Arguments are won

Cold Fire
Bach over reaches
Arguments are won in dusk
Time brings to the brink
when you discover
tomorrow's sun
was blazoned in her shadow
legends crumbling
we succumb
to the languid legend

Premium MemberOh My Sweet Lord

Orange fire-blazoned indigo sky
crackling the night’s desperate cry,
leaving the hot wind’s breath pursy.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy.

Rising flames painted the dawn’s light,
no oasis, no ease in sight,
leaving the barren earth thirsty.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy

Night fell with enflamed full moon.
Both flora and fauna fell swoon,
corporeal controversy.
Oh my sweet Lord, please have mercy.

Abundant water covered the night
granting reprieve from parching blight,
reviving life; bear gramercy.
Thank the sweet Lord for His mercy.

Premium MemberCenturion

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, gathered in awe
to watch The Master and his name exhort,
and at the crease blazoned a century score
by the Lion slayer in fierce onslaught.
Cut, hook, pull, and drive - each ball thunderstruck
as I took my guard at the city end,
cover and square leg would scurry and duck
   when Excalibur blade threatened…Amen!
“Bravo centurion!” they’d shout, “more! more!”
dapper in his zinc and red bandana -
into Wisden and new Leopard folklore
“run-out” on that great urban savannah.
I should have stayed my crease - instead I ran -
but cometh the legend, cometh the man!

            Written: December 1996

Note: A centurion is a batsman who scores
a hundred runs in an innings. Alas I
was run-out for 111 that fateful day.

*The Leopards were my cricket team.
*The Lions were one of our fiercest rivals.
*Cover & square leg are fielding positions.
*Cut, hook, pull, drive, are cricket shots.
*Taking guard is marking your crease in
line with your stumps to protect them.
*Excalibur is a brand of cricket bat.
*Wisden is a prestigious cricket almanac.

Brother

Brother

Riparian observers watch waters pass
left behind, huddled in loss
our tears added to the flow
memories blazoned in our mind
with each tenuous gasp
we pound the bare earth
love and loss mingle with shock
remember
how could I forget
he’s my brother

Purple Sunset

I'm stunned by purple when I see

the gifts of sky's vast majesty,

mixed with warm orange and pink streaks,

aglow neath clouds as evening peaks.

A blushing sunset paints this scene

as shadows dim the sun's gold sheen,

and purple mutes the fiery ray

that blazoned sunshine thru the day.

Stephanus Marcus 21

Stephanus Marcus Book 1
Canto 4
Verses 8 and 9

The liege of grandiose brick manor stay
did question Sinefred plain about retreat.
"A temporary brief reversal day
but know this right, the Leopard I'll mistreat.
At day's new light when dreams are most replete
with fancies sweet as honeycomb delight,
then we'll renew attack and make complete
this stringent battle we've began to fight.
All Morley's knights will be then scattered into flight."

" Whose shield did I afore then see with thee?
All blazoned azure seen with golden sign?
Methinks that golden sign was Leopard free.
What name to knight is so in Morley's line?"
" His name's Stephanus Marcus, he is mine.
Yet stronger knights than he have seen defeat,
and sitting by his armor I will dine.
This vanquished knight is name I will delete,
then I'll drink nectar sweet, for me a special treat."

she cries in pain
tears blot her face

Seven Lakes Drive

Skies vibrate with strange  cloud formations,
To the calamitous thunder of the v-twins powered best.
The trees give up their last held golden jewels,
As they awaIt their oncoming, slow winters rest.

The motors wind, and so does the road
Twisting past stones as the placid pools run.
They shimmer with light, their blinding reflection,
of the soon to be setting, blazoned, autumn sun.

Through pockets of cool fall shards of leaves,
We cut through the wind and power through day.
The blue skies above in this tunnel of color,
We rise and we fall, as the road has her way.

The gentle curves and noble hills,
await and greet ushere, as we arrive.
They open their arms and cradle us dear,
Just a small reminder, to know were alive.

The palate is vast and rich with light,
An unbridled beauty, so deep and so clear.
If any new color, did ever exist...
Theres no doubt, indeed, you would find it right here.

So Fear not the destination which someday awaits,
The importance and purpose of these things Ive showed.
The journey's what matters, those twists and the turns,
Believe it or not, God lives on the road.

Come To Me

I hold you sensate in my soul
But your refusal ruins my longing
Queen of the mild -dewed morn
In the apparel of a descending snow
My steps I miss to clutch your shadow
I am tickled to see your lush lips blazoned in sweetness

I hold you sensate in my soul
But you willow my wits
Bud of the King, the bluey bloom
Storm my wishful stream of thoughts
And disappear like a moon on a brief bow
I miss my breath to take in the fragrance of your silhouette

I hold you sensate in my soul

But your song fast-paced serrate my stringing skill
Daughter of the bridery moon veiled
In the diadem of regal rose, the rhythm of my lines

I hold you sensate
Come to me in flesh and flow into my arms
Long spread for your maiden embrace
On this lawn where life never limps but spreads green fronds,
Come to me, my love-bud, my sensation, my may some day.

The Night Before the Eclipse

Look at this poppy-seed bread:
Black stars in a white sky,
Outside, an aloe plant rustles in the wind,
As out of place as dead people whispering.
I am not planning to die, however
Will they write my autobiography,
Listening to Fall Out Boy's 'Centuries'
Remember me...
For small recollections
Of a day-time moon,
This hot-cross bun blazoned across a handful
Of wayward seasons.
And I am not making any promises,
But this side of having a cold, far out stars
Are inextinguishable.
