Fave Poets Meet

Meeting my homegirls Wilma Neels
and Kim Van Breda with shrieks and squeals
hasty introductions and we're on our way
for a night of reading at Poetry Café

We've Yasmin to thank for arranging the meet
with fellow Soupers, a veritable treat
Yasmin the sneak had their names withheld
we're apprehensive yet still by curiosity propelled

My fingers are crossed to meet Eileen
fave poetess mine, the Passionate Queen
dare I wish to meet hamsome Ryerson
not to mention Anne-Lise Andresen?

On first glance the café seems somewhat rowdy
from one of the corners a chorus of "Howdy!!!"
heaven help!! I'm rooted to the spot
all my fave poets from the Souper pot

The Queen of Passion, my special friend
Eileen Ghali, an angel heaven-sent
with open arms and that beguiling smile
that's touched us all over thousands of miles

I spot our Father Christmas, Jackie Ellison
Oh my, mercy me, the hamsome Tim Ryerson
then the beautiful being, Anne-Lise Andresen
and our pretty young doll, Anne Poetess Currin

Andrea, crack writer and popcorn freak
and Nette Onclaud, Madame Linguistics
the talented and sweet Leonora Galinta
oh, for a long time I've longed to meet her

There's the much-loved Reach-Out Lamoureux
a stylish gentleman, delighted to meet you
our very own Linda who happiness spreads
memorable the day as Brown Licia meets Red

He who writes poetry with a golden pen
bestest, fantasticest, hamsomest friend
Rich-Heart Seal-ed Door, my bruv from abroad
by his smile I'm bowled over; by his charm I am awed

I'm jumping with joy at my fave poets meet
befuddled, bewildered; who first to greet?
midst the mountain of talent I'm on a positive high
overwhelmed, I simply break down and cry

This one needs a whole lot of polishing and smoothing
out, but I was too excited to submit it. I'll iron out the
crinkles soon. LOVE TO YOU ALL, LICIA

“Real love brings about calm—not inner torment. True love allows you to be at peace with yourself and with God." Yasmin Mogahed

When you hide behind silence,
despite the crying violins of
irritating sinister symphonies,
I'll search for you in the midst of
the meadows of your mind,
lighting lanterns in your darkness.

I was born to soothe the tips
of pearlescent sorrowful tears,
which float upon satin textures
of your rare Adonis blue soul.
I'll be the honeydew to nourish
your fragile wings to float
freely from dahlia to sunflower

and if the winds are cruel,
my hands will become a cocoon,
so when the season offers no comfort,
you can rest within the warmth
of my protective palms.
I'll silently listen to the gentle sound
of your butterfly breaths,
until you once again take flight.

I hope you always return.

Amidst the clamour and chaos
of porcelain paths with feathered fate,
I'll be the 'still water' which washes
away the thick clouds draped
around your heart.

    "Pinball Wizard"

strange sounds hypnotize from an ARCADE
challenging me to a dual escapade
silver balls wait in line
for fingers to opine
female transforms to pinball wizard on parade.

STAR TREK is my machine of choice
listening to CAPTAIN KIRK'S commanding voice
ENTERPRISE flies at warp speed
as numbers calculate point feed
as a TREKKIE I win a la Royce.*

MORTAL COMBAT is a game of great skill
super bonus points mount as empty holes fill
deadly fatalities
video catastrophies
in the end my name is on top of the hill.

STREET FIGHTER is quick, sharp and rough
knocking down opponents is so tough
when the flipper sinks the ball in
the bad dude shouts "a vul kin"*
aggravated, I cry out "had enough".

time to hang up my "wizard fingers" for another day
flashing lights show my name on display
leaving fantasy behind
know I'm "one of a kind"
pinball prima donna loves to play.

Premium Member Someone Listen

“Zoloft.” was someone’s loud, quick answer.
“Yasmin.” I heard, spoke by another. Huh?
“Xanax.” Was then offered.

While these people shouted, I stared, perplexed.

“Valium, is inside my pocketbook,
Unisom, too. It’s up to you.” said some voice.

”Thank you,” I began, “you are all dear,
Seems though, I have not been clear.
Really, all I want and need ….”

“Quick dissolving antacid is here, amid
Percocet in the drawer, in my desk,
Oxycotin, too. What bothers you?” again, someone interrupted me.

”Now that you ask,” I started to reply, “my only request,
	Made just moments ago …”

“Lexapro, is in my bag.” Another spoke,
“Keep it with you all day, see if you’re okay.
Just know at work you can’t rest – it’s no joke.
It will tire a person in no time flat.” She went on,
“Happens fast, you will feel sleepy once you digest.”

”Gosh guys,” I felt mad, “this is like combat.
For goodness sake, do stop speaking out.
Everyone, hear my question, don’t make me shout,
Did any of you in this office
Consider that all I wish to
	Borrow is a simple, genuine
	Aspirin? Well, maybe two.”

A Souper Friend Encounter

A warm smile of hello in the sanctuary of poets
The name is Arden G.; here to express not to impress
If I coud do an eye-contact and a firm handshake in the virtual land of PoetrySoup
Would be a dream come true to meet great poets called, "Souper".

If I could move heaven and earth; I'd love to meet Linda or PoetDestroyer, SKAT and Julie Rasley
The first few who commented on my featured poem, "LOVE" and welcomed me as a family
Anne Lise Andresen who always drop by and Sheri Harper that ranked my first poem entry, "A Shot of HIV"
I'll tell them a simple, "THANKS" and encouragement of "MORE POWER".
For no words could capture the emotions of knowing wonderful artists in this world.

Of course I'd like to meet and learn something 'bout Yasmin Khan
Who advocates to bind each poets; pure intentions to make us one
I'll tap her shoulder and tell her, "IT'S A JOB WELL DONE".
Now everybody's sharing their depths and self one by one.

Is there a way to meet the founder of Poetrysoup?
To tell HIM, "BRAVISSIMO" and my new "SOUPER-FRIEND" too.

Premium Member In Grateful Appreciation

Yesterday before I went up to bed
I noticed an email that I hadn't read
It was from Soup thanking me
For sending them the PM fee
It must be a mistake or so I thought
They sent me something that I haven’t bought
I thought about what I would say
And email them the very next day
I told a friend what the email said
And read her response before going to bed
She said that she was happy for me
You've had a gift; someone’s paid your fee
Whoever you are you've made my day
I’m lost for words don’t know what to say
Your very kind and generous act
Will stay with me and that’s a fact.

Thank you.
