Best Waltz Around Poems

Premium Member Building a Rill

I filled a small trench that yielded fresh water.
Built as a serpentine and with a sharp corner.
A small waterfall sang a melodious sound,
A lulled sleepiness induced when it hit the ground.

On each side of the rill, fair, watery plants grew,
A great choice of Algae. Ferns, a lobelia blue.
Fitful arrowheads and water lilies adorn.
Cardinals and others begin their flight in the morn.

Already prepared was a slightly large pond,
Well covered with cement mixed with soil beyond,
I planted some hyacinths and water lilies.
Soon, dragonflies waltz around like sillies.

My final job was planting a dwarf willow.
Don't be surprised, robins made it their pillow.

Premium Member Precious Moments

“I don’t have to ponder my precious moments that always give me heart to carry on.
So firmly implanted in my heart, I will never let them go, never will they be gone.” The Poet

Memories of : As a child my Dad’s beautiful voice filled our home with song, and Mum so often beckoned me to get up and dance and we would waltz around the house.
It was time to paint the house and I was given the choice of colour for my room. I chose a deep dark rose pink.
When Dad finished it and it dried, is was quite a light pastel pink. Although I smiled, he saw the look in my eyes. He told me he was going to give it a much darker coat. He painted the whole room again in just the colour I hoped for. I was ten and Dad was sixty, and I will never forget the trouble he went to that day just to please me.

My dear Lord heard our prayers one night as our adult son lay on an operating table with 19 fractures in his skull with pressure and splinters pushing into his brain. God gave two surgeons miraculous hands, taking nearly five hours to free his brain and reform his skull with metal plates and screws as best they could to save him. Our son came through all this with no permanent brain damage and eventually recovered.

My wonderful Granddaughter gave me a card 14 years ago, that when it is opened, has The Platters singing ONLY YOU, and quite incredibly the battery in it hasn’t worn out yet. She told me that she chose that card because the words reminded her exactly of me. To read this certainly created another precious moment.

When I am feeling blue, I just think of my wonderful family, that I am so very lucky to have, and I open that card, which always brings tears of joy to me. I think of the young boy who I pray for every day. He saw me drop a fifty dollar note in the street and ran after me (a complete stranger) to give it back.
To cheer me up I go to his pages and read some of Rico’s Limericks.

It wont mean much to the readers of this, but to me, I have just filled this page with more love and wonderful memories than I need to make me feel like the most lucky and loved person in the world.

Premium Member Potluck Dinner

(Echo Sonnet)

Come waltz around the diner's hall with me
where scents of ginger pie can spice your lust
when you behold my sister's flaky crust
and slather pie with ample hunks of brie.

A dinner fraught with traps we can't foresee;
the pie you crave turns bitter as you chew,
its texture coats your tongue until you spew
and slather pie with ample hunks of brie.

The hostess, quick with cups of ginger tea
will pound your back and push you out the door
while I pretend you're one we must ignore
and slather pie with ample hunks of brie.

Come waltz around the diner's hall with me
and slather pie with ample hunks of brie.

Premium Member Alyssa's Dance

Alyssa danced in the center of the
empty historical ballroom.
Imagining suitors standing in line
for one more waltz around the artistic
ceramic tiled flooring.
Her dress, ivory full, swept the floor
as she turned and sauntered on
winged slippers.
Elegantly breathtaking… enchantress form;
mesmerized an onlooker athwart
the chamber.
His eyes fixed as she pirouetted to
a silent melody.
Observers gathering in amazement
as she tip-toed gingerly in a dance
with butterflies of her fancy.
Swaying her gracefully thin, delicate
arms above her head; back and forth,
hypnotized in herself.

Oblivious to tenacious eyes concealed
only in cracks of walls, Alyssa dances
ever so genial.
The onlooker from across the chamber
floor, hesitates to accompany her.
He walks towards her and slips his
wieldy arm about her torso.
Her eyes open and smile as her hand
falls leisurely into his cupped palm.
Simultaneously sliding, gliding,
Alyssa closes her eyes feeling his
heart pulse; radiating as one.
Tenderly, he pulls her close, wedging
their unfamiliarity.
Their eyes touch in an upheaving
embrace as if known forever.
Reticently they speak
-through Alyssa’s dance-
shared only in brevity of the moment
while an aristocratic minuet
stills the hush…

I'Ll Rise Again

Here lies this weary body of mine,
My trip through life was brief;
The youth I had is long since passed,
For age is but a thief.
The hand that takes is swift and strong,
The hand that takes is cruel;
The battle is over but who has won,
Is there another rule?
We waltz around our numbered days,
With steps of measured beat;
But often the steps tend to fall,
If they cannot take the heat.
But in the nether parts of time,
I’ll rise again to sing my rhyme.

Premium Member Awaking a Thirst

awaking a thirst, filling me from above
     with whispers of unforgotten love;

the pounding of drums as your name lingers
on mine own lips displacing rainbow sweet hues.
most wonders touch swirl round mine own fingers
yearning the music, I choose not to lose.

how many times did I gaze on thy face?
     in mine own daydreams? When spent sun was fiercer;
awaking a thirst, filling me from above
               with whispers of unforgotten love.

before then night lapse in dank vesture of lace
mine wane smile died, with memories dear sir.
brush flitter, round musical full score.
               ivory fingers purposeless upon

awaking a thirst, filling me from above
     with whispers of unforgotten love.
my ebony frame, asking for much more,
sweet release, mine demise, a distant yawn.

now I still steal, moments taking pleasure,
devouring the air that waltz around me,
awaking a thirst, filling me from above
               with whispers of unforgotten love.

wisp of earth fragrant charm I treasure,
staring at the heaven it uses to be
awaking a thirst, filling me from above
               with whispers of unforgotten love.

Premium Member The Air I Inhale My Lullaby Tale

As a child, under the infinite sunless night;
I used to lie on a bed of thick grass
in the front yard just to stare up at night
and its uncountable flickering stars.
The cool breeze tendrils would caress
me with tender love and a lullaby it would sing.
It would gift me so much comfort.
I would dream up all sorts of stories.
I just loved the starry night.

Now I still steal moments taking pleasure
inhaling the air allowing it to waltz around me
with a wisp of earth fragrant magic
staring at that same heaven.
Awaking a thirst filling me
with whispers of tales
and a palette of imagination
from nature's quandary.

Premium Member A Season's Dance

Stretching long, without goodbye
Weary from the summer's play
The rolling hills are losing green
But laughing to a cloud flecked sky

while catching autumn's leaves

~

Autumn days show quiet grace
A fading trace of yesterday...
We watch a sky yield a change of hue
Turning gray from shades of blue
But there is now a harvest moon
Dancing to a different tune

For, winter's coming soon

~

After trees have lost their hue
Let the wind bring seasons new
I'll smile upon the pillowed earth
that brings a sense of peace instead....
A winter spread of snowy mounds
A softer sound upon the ground

as snowflakes waltz around
~

Until the birds return again,
I'll watch the dance of green begin
I'll brush the blossoms off my head

then,... dance because it's spring !

Anticipating Cerebral Peace

Small steps toward a brighter future
My legs bound by your tongue
Rub together
Like we used to

A large leap to the safe ground below
My eyes shut by your breath
Cry violently
Like they used to

Trembling hands
On the throat of a lion
Always pause

The last to leave
A building burned
Fulfills only the relieved few
While others wait for their happiness
Unrewarded

Why must we waltz around the flames?
Why must I congratulate my failure?
I must move on
But my legs are bound together

I Am Your Wave

I am Your Wave!

There you were all peaceful in "trance",
here I came with a frolicking dance!
Down you brought, the stars of night,
I just Flickered their light!
That magnificent smile, with dimples,
I just conspired with droplets, to make ripples!
Dressed in colors from sun and sky,
you wait patiently as different shades I try!
Day and Night we waltz around,
Together forever, we are bound!
Encouraging me to reach new heights,
In my low you hold me tight!
Riding along, touching new shores,
I am your shadow, You my core!
Let the shells tell the story far and wide,
You, the sea, I am your tide!

Crowded Rooftops

Keep it to yourself and keep looking around
Do you need to be there?
Can you see the light under the neon?
Can you read the lips of the gaudy?
Change is sitting there somewhere
With a glass, weary-eyed
Wondering what has become of it.

With every segue, the faces waltz around,
The lightness of being is perforated
Like an unnoticed sidereal sky,
Crowded rooftops all around the neighborhood
Engage in meaningless banter
Whining about the unwanted weight
Of people stomping in, strolling out
With a newfound darkness in their minds,
Not that of the night.

But amongst the intervening glances
And the random remembrances
Memories are woven,
Like a disheveled tapestry in the making
Soon to be hung on walls
Built to make way for
More crowded rooftops.

Turn It Up

When my bipolar gets me down,
I do not take a med.
Crank up a disc of Johann Strauss;
that gets inside my head.

I have been known to dance and hum
and waltz around the room.
That gay and happy music helps
me push away the gloom.
