Best Use Your Head Poems

Literacy

"Just one alphabet,
an imprint on the brain,
and you'll never forget
or be puzzled again.

If you use your head,
you can save your feet;
the mind must be fed
and a book is a treat.

Reading and writing
are private activities,
but mingling's the thing
in your towns and your cities.

The retail and wholesale
of popular cultures:
peacock and nightingale
enjoyed by vultures.

One day in the evening,
you'll want to impart
the frustrated meaning
that's hurting your heart.

Misunderstanding's
the product of fear,
but all happy endings
are perfectly clear.

And something is learned
when professors are fooled
and the children are turned
into the over-schooled -

Don't study too long,
after you're literate,
go totally wrong
and still be an idiot."

Poor Orphan

Orphan you poor thing
Orphan you poor thing,
So you are all alone now, no mom, no dad, just you
I know dear, I know that in this point in time life seems meaningless
I know you feel rejected, unwanted,
Could it be because of the people around you?

Orphan you poor thing,
There you are sitting in a dark room all by yourself,
Swimming in a pool of salty water from your eyes
Wishing mommy and daddy were there with you.
You sit there alone, you fear the dark, and you fear the night,
Each night brings you a new terrible reality of nightmares.
Out to hurt you? Out to rip you off you who know? They just might.
Child, you know by now that all that glitters is not gold,
People you thought loved you, will live you out in the cold,
The love they had for you when your parents were still alive,
That love has suddenly grown old,
And like all the old things, the love will vanish into thin air without a trace.

And in no time, they will even forget about you child,
Worry not my dear, weeping only last through the night,
Happiness will come in the morning
Soon you will forget that you too were mourning.

Poor Orphan
When the sun rises, go out there,
See what can do, deal with your fears,
Wipe away those tears,
And see what lies ahead
Use your head
Think, use your brain, use your intelligence,
That my dear is something they will never take away from you.

Poor orphan
You will work hard and build you old legacy
Stop feeling sorry for yourself, hard work surely pays.
When they see fruits of your hard work, they will be in pain,
They will remember all the bad things they said to you, all your hard work wont b in vain
Beyond their expectation, you will be successfully rich,
Then they will call you names, among others, they will say you are a witch.
But worry not child more insults will come, so will more accusations.
They will call you a thief and say you steal,
But worry not child for you will heal.
You will heal from the low self-esteem, low confidence.

Soon you will forgive them because a great future lies ahead
Don’t stop working hard in every possible way
And you will see poor orphan things will go your way.
Remember Poor Orphan, you are not going through this alone
There are millions others going through the same worldwide,
Self-pity won’t help.
Get up and work hard.

Don'T Use Your Head Without a Helmet

Going down the slopes
be sure to wear your helmet
watch out for that tree!

Soul of a Woman

In every woman lies a soul..and in the soul of every woman lies the secret of love
Sometimes a man does'nt treat a woman right..but the way back to her heart lies
in that same soul
Your heart cries ..it bleeds
Pain comes and goes but most of all it heals...forgives..and accepts new
beginnings
You hear promises and pleeding
Amazingly you surprise yourself..you can feel again
Caution....
Your life goes on and just when you feel and think you can't give yourself to
another you can
Love is something different each and everytime
There's so much your eyes don't see...love is blind
You may cry..you may feel the one you love slip away between your fingers
It all hurts but than again we all been there
Letting go of your dreams..hopes and visions is never easy..but than again who
said love was easy
Love can be pure and soft and untouchable only until the poison releases in the
mind
I've loved like I thought I could never love again..
At this point I realize it's you alone who chooses what is love and what is
fictional..
Seperate the right from the wrong and use your head and not your heart..in a
decision
Remember in every woman lies a soul...

Voice For the People

Lay me down so fast asleep.
Without a sound not even a peep.
Drifting deep into my dreams.
Leaving the world as it seems.
Maybe one day ill wake up to a better place.
A place that could wipe this frown from my face.
I dream of a world where we can all get along.
Stop all this b.s. fighting and just move on.
Yeah you and me may not be the same.
But acting out on your ways just puts a stereotype on our name.
Black, white, brown or yellow.
Our coffins are all the same size so its time to stay mellow.
If one puts his guns down others will follow,
Its time to stop packin all this heat.
Time to stop leaving people dead in the street.
Streets are hard enough without all them guns.
Kids getting shot while outside having fun.
Parents reminiscing about the good old days.
Where it was safe to send your kids outside to play.
Kids killing kids not caring about their age.
We need to stop the violence.
We need to stop the rage.
Just trying to be a voice for us all.
If we don't learn to stand together then we're bound to fall,
I say this all as one persons voice,
But in order to make a change you have to make a choice,
People out here dyin each and everyday,
Don't you think it's time to put them guns away,
Because maybe tomorrow won't be on your side,
Maybe one of your brothers or sisters didnt have the time to hide,
Now blast there gone in a drive by,
Now your standing there crying with your hand over your eyes,
You wanna get even but please use your head,
Because using them guns will just keep leaving another one dead.

Music Lover

Music is cool,
music is loud,
music is sweet,
it rocks me to the beat.

I love how they sound
music is awsome
when its played to the crowd
Everyone gather to hear
a sweet symphony so clear

Take drums, guitars, or any music instrament
Take your heart and soul, use your head
make music come out to hear

Music inspires you to write,
to sing, dance, or take flight.
Music is for everyone,
but music is for me.

A Heart Divided

A HEART DIVIDED

A heart divided,
Loving two,
Can't decide what to do.
Go with one and leave the other,
Or go with the other and leave the one.
Use your head and lose your heart
Or use your heart and lose your head.
My heart says, "Let it be."
My head says, "Listen to me."
Holding back.
Letting go.
How will I ever know?

As You Go Through Life

As you go through life,
Remember a golden rule;
To be loving and caring,
But be nobody’s fool.
Give as you live,receive too
For that is the way
To mature and be
Your own person some day.....

Remember your heart,
But don’t wear it on your sleeve;
Use your head,be wise
Above all have hope and believe.
Accept what must be accepted,
Change what is in your power to do.
Yet be grateful for the little things,
Let life be a friend to you.
Grow in love,be loveable
Let others draw near
Without being a doormat,
Love cannot stem from fear.

Honour truth with all its’ beauty,
Never brutal or unkind.
So be sure to handle it carefully
When sharing with others what’s on your mind.
Treat everyone as you want to be treated,
With respect and with care,
Remembering we all have feelings
Though some may pretend
They’re not there......

Yet don’t take life too seriously
While you learn and strive.
Laugh,have fun,be happy
Know it’s good to be alive.
Take pride in your appearance.
Look after your health
And body too,
Aware of inner beauty-
Remember to always be you.
Especially follow your inner voice
For your path through life to see,
Then you will shine as a child of God,
And be the beautiful person
You’re destined to be.

I wrote this for my god-daughter when she was 13 at the request of her mum to give her a bit of guidance.

O My Human Being,

O my human being,

Move, O my human being,
Remove the enmity
Enmity has spoiled the humanity-

Use your head O human being,
And behead the atrocity
Atrocity has ruined the humanity-

Have will O my human being
Please kill the immorality
Immorality has ruined the humanity-

Enmity, atrocity, immorality
As they have audacity

Among us exists
Existential crisis
Along with us subsists
Substantial chaos

Enough
Wait not
Get rough

Nothing more
To think and sink

O my human being,
You must dwell as a being
In future too

Slow Time

It was a Thursday afternoon,
and Katie was in school.
The teacher droned and droned and droned
about a number rule.

But math was not on Katie's mind.
She yawned and checked the time:
the minute hand showed half past two
and still had quite a climb.

"I wish," she thought, "the bell would ring:
this pace is far too slow.
If only I could speed things up,
if time would let me go!"

No sooner said, than it was done:
she heard the school bell's song.
The class released its prisoners
in one impatient throng.

As soon as Katie left the school,
she was at home — how strange!
It felt as if no time had passed,
which was a welcome change.

There was some action on T.V.
She settled in her chair.
The show was over in a flash:
Now, that seemed hardly fair!

At supper Katie licked her chops,
and loaded up her plate
but didn’t even get a taste:
too bad — she was too late!

And then she had no chance to play,
for it was half past ten.
She went to bed but barely slept
and had to rise again.

At school she was amazed to learn
that this day was the last
before the summer holidays.
The year was over fast!

So Katie thought of all she'd do
under the lazy sun
when winter came and put an end
to Katie's summer fun.

She got her skis and put them on,
but how far could she go
when sudden spring snuck up on her
and melted all the snow!

She never noticed when and how
she managed to grow tall.
She went to work and drove a car
but had no fun at all.

She hated calendars and clocks:
her carefree days had flown.
Poor Katie had no time to rest
with children' of her own.

She'd only changed their diapers once
before the wee ones walked,
and ran and read and went to school
and even rolled and rocked.

She knew that soon she would become
a grandma — old and grey,
so Katie screamed: "I'm still a kid!
I want to seize the day!"

But then she heard the teacher's voice:
"Your desk is not a bed.
Stop snoring, Kate, and listen up.
It's time to use your head.

I have a problem of a sort
that's tailor-made for you.
How much is left till three o'clock
if now it's half past two?"

American Dread

re-write of American Pie:

A long, long time ago,
I can still remember when,
The presidency meant so much.

I was sure that when they got to vote,
They wouldn't choose that pompous goat,
And now I'm just astounded that they did.

Each speech I heard had made me shrivel,
To hear his racist, fascist drivel,
It can't be coincidental, his fans all seem quite mental!

I didn't know just what to say,
When I saw the vote had gone his way,
Nothing left but curse or pray,
The day Trump bought their pride...

So, Hi there! to American dread,
Was disorder at the border as the Mexicans fled,
The prices soared on petrol, water and bread,
It's hard to see a brighter day ahead,
Cause democracy and decency are dead…

Did you vote and if you did,
Did you think of all those homeless kids?
Or just about your own dough?

Did you vote with head or heart?
Well remember that when trouble starts,
Did you toss away your future in one throw?

Well, I guess that if you voted Trump,
It wasn't for that wiggy chump,
The cash that you have spare,
You don't think you should share!

So you voted for the man you guessed,
Could improve your fortune for the best,
And hell could come and take the rest,
The day Trump bought their pride…

I started singin' Hi there! to American dread,
Mass disorder at the border as the Mexicans fled,
The prices soared on petrol, water and bread,
It's hard to see a brighter day ahead,
When democracy and decency are dead.

Now, for four years you're stuck with this ass,
And God only knows what will come to pass,
But it was what we voted for?

When you cast your vote its a one dice roll,
So use your head and protect your soul,
you never know what fate will have in store.

So now you're stuck with Donald Trump,
While the markets tank and the dollar slumps,
It's open day for cut throats,
The immigrants all scapegoats.

And while Clinton sues the FBI,
And the poorest all begin to cry,
And the maggots taint the pumpkin pie,
The day Trump bought our pride…

I started singin' Hi there! to American dread,
Theres disorder at the border as the Mexicans fled,
The prices soared on petrol, water and bread,
It's hard to see a brighter day ahead,
Cause democracy and decency are dead.

Surprise Package

It was early in the morning when the postman came to call
I was standing in my undies as I shivered in the hall
He said he had a parcel as I peered around the door
“There isn’t any name and so I don’t know who it’s for
Its this address that’s on it, and that is pretty plain
But, I’m afraid, I cannot find, a clue as to the name
If you sign here I’ll leave it, and then I’ll be on my way
I’ve ever such a lot of things I need to do today”
So, I signed the postmans’ docket, placed the package on the floor
Thanked him for his trouble as I slowly closed the door
Standing there and wondering in the middle of the hall
I removed the outer layers to reveal a soccer ball
A note attached with sticky tape explained the senders thoughts
I’d smashed his bedroom window and been well and truly caught
“I have you here on video, the ball, found on my bed
You’ve been exposed, the bill’s enclosed, so next time use your head”

My Way

Find you a role model they said
I was young and finding my way
Find a leader then use your head
Follow that leader come what may

You cannot listen to your heart
You must learn logic and reason
Dreams will likely tear you apart
So they said with every season

Along came a thin little man
Telling me what he had to say
He could sing if anyone can
And he said he did it his way

I found he was right - dreams do pay
I am proud I did it my way
