Multi-channel stream meanders in the carved valley,
concert of murmur cascades melody on sculpted rock.
I place my ears on the flow of the whistling air,
but the sound of music flies past me unheard.
Summer rains fall in torrent on parched tree,
the rhythm of aria ripples on dancing leaves.
I keep my subtle senses alert in the scene,
but the symphony fades away unperceived.
Out of sync sounds I can’t relate to, dissipate
in the depth of silence.

From the cacophony of unnerving distraught clamor
voices return unlistened to where they came from,
for the stark reality remains hidden unsaid
in unreachable abyss of marooned minds.
On the winter path tracing infinite distance
feelings freeze like sleet on trail unwalked.
Buds of emotion withers away unbloomed
in the forlorn frigid shore of arctic hearts.
I want to reach out to all these cold people,
but their faces drift away like formless cloud
beyond the sea of silence.

On the tranquil shore of life waves of tempest break,
the palace of fantasy I build with the sands of time,
no one comes in, collapses in water grave,
for people disappear in engulfing noise
of wind-swept trees and surging waves.
Detached, I hear the primordial tune within
where slice of universal soul in me resonates
with the sound of silence.

Nothing Remains

My fingers grasp at the void, empty-handed...
My heart lingers at hollowness, emptied out...
reminiscent when time got wrinkled, worn
when night and day left,
and only nothing remained.

The embers of my burning words
wither into the palest of ashes,
it makes me think of dead skin cells—
they are nothing but dust
sloughed off, then piled up into dusty corners, forgotten.
Minuteness discarded, a lover’s crumbling skeleton.

A noise barrage invades my soul’s silence,
an onslaught of thought and reason—
A wailing, pounding, desert squall that drowns me,
shattering the dam of tranquility.

I plunge back into this abyss of loneliness.
Of course nobody’s there.
They have all been long gone.
And here I am, with only this vast void as my company.
It whispers, it screams
and echoes into my mind,
what they’ve all been saying all along,
that I brought this upon myself.

Maybe I did. Of course I did.
Of course I did. Maybe I did.

Back and forth, back forth it goes...

I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that my sea of loneliness
becomes a sea of ecstatic happiness...
I seek sanctuary in dreams,
for it is only there that I am welcome.

Touch me Not! Noli me tangere.
Wake me not...

Silence has blocked your ears.

The shattering of my heart was unperceived,
so I am left alone to take extreme care of these countless shards.
I can’t afford to hurt anymore, as I have done to the others.
With my words. With my long-winding, droning and ever-boring words.
The death-inducing kind of boring.
And only nothing cared to remain.

I am left with no choice but to be one with this nothingness,
flow along its waves, imbibe it and become it. Nix.
Let me evaporate, let me join that cycle of seeming nothingness.
That nothing, that stark quiet before the storm.

Breathe deep into that void.
Inhale nothing.
Hear nothing. See nothing. Say nothing.

Then wait...

Can you feel me now?

As nothing touches you.

*** This was inspired from Catie’s “Nothing Remains”. In choosing this, in no
way am I saying that her poem needs improvement. It is brilliant as it is. I chose this poem of hers because it moved me and spoke to me. Thank you, Catie.

Premium Member Beauty So Rare

A blue so blue appeared in the sky
purer than the blue of a maiden's eye
Poking a hole through puff-clouds billowy white
its majesty moving those who prize sight

I wonder if it knows, as I marvel in awe
at its beauty so rare, no unperceived flaw
Or is its struggle to emerge so all-consuming
naivete yet untarnished ~ pristine, unassuming

Premium Member A Little Kindness Never Hurts

In the parched life of desiccated emotions desolate
I didn’t know there was nestled a calm niche of bliss
in the recess of my petrified heart I couldn’t locate
where lay unperceived a beautiful concealed oasis.

The dried tears of a hungry child begging on road,
the stilled eyes of a stupefied mother of a lost child,
the silent sigh of a sick destitute resigned to God….
All these unveiled the obscure oasis for me to find.

From the depth of cool shade of my heart I collect
soulful of serene solace in full measure I can gather,
from the colored horizon of the new dawn I reflect
mindful of hues of rising hope as life’s live treasure.

These I give to those from humane feelings’ reservoir
whosoever need under the fallen sky in times helpless.
In my ears serenading breeze of the oasis whispers….
Rejoice kindling in dim hearts little candles of kindness.

President Donald Trump

The voting was done,
     and Donald Trump won.
So many are glad,
     yet quite a few mad.
Voters have spoken...
     fix what is broken,
and wipe the slate clean
     though hard it may seem.

Democracy rules
     to give us new tools
find creative ways
     to better our days.
Oft old status quo
     is no way to go.
Outsiders at times
     can shape new designs
to better the plight,
     and shed brighter light.

Think...Ronald Reagan...
     values mistaken...
an outsider too,
     despised by a few.
This Hollywood star
     met President's bar
at last to become
     a great number one.

Yet, Trump, right or wrong
     is mocked by the throng;
no credit he wins
     by those fake-news spins...
on what he's achieved,
     they shape unperceived.

Okay, there are things
     that agita brings,
and some just can stand
     his tweets out of hand.
He is what he is...
     perhaps too much fizz,
but gets the job done
     and tells you he won.

Our nation at heart...
     and zeal off the chart,
let's give him a break...
     in backing, partake.
Unity's needed
     peacefulness pleaded.
Let's give him a chance
     with a cheerful stance.

An Agreement of Love

An act of kindness unperceived
Love freely offered not received
A thoughtful deed offered to ease
Pain of words from those who tease
A kindly gesture from a friend
Advice and help from those who’ll lend
A means and chance to help me mend
And lift me up least I descend
when all was said I’d hoped you’d sway
And not dismiss these words away
At last we finally both agree
That I love you
And you don’t love me

Premium Member The Agency

Our beloved armed forces
In the US - of - A,
Are resigned in full measure
To the prices they pay.

When they fall, most are given
Due honor and fame,
But a few get NO laurels,
No prestige or acclaim.

They not only pay
The ultimate price,
But honor is silent
For their brave sacrifice.

These choice few contend
With a war unperceived,
With no hills to be taken,
No objectives achieved.

The battles they fight
Are hard to define,
Without demarcation,
With no thin red line.

They do what is asked
With inappreciable thanks,
Despite all the heroes
That make up their ranks.

Their work can be risky,
And quite often dire,
Yet they willingly jump
Straight into the fire.

And when their assignments
Are all said-and-done,
They bring home no glory
Or grandeur, not one.

Not they or their loved ones
Can discuss all they gave,
For the land of the free,
And the home of the brave.

And those that are taken
By Grim's mortal call,
Are thereafter naught ...
But a STAR on the wall.

Yet for them that's enough,
That wall and that star,
For it represents all
That they honor and are.

And if serving their homeland
Means that their life is lost,
Then our freedom and safety,
Is to them, worth the cost.

They answered their country's
Preeminent call,
Now they're stars up in Heaven,
Watching over us all.

Divorce: a Bitter Course

Where does he go and what can he do, this wife he married is not the same
words of love have been replaced by abusive words, bent on giving him shame
the sun has turned into rain; you’re trapped, with nowhere to avoid getting wet
now caught in the web of her discontent, and holding your head down with regret

You look toward compromise, hoping to work things out and make it right
only to encounter resistance, she wants nothing less than you out of her sight
as words fall on deaf ears reality sets in, you are full of contrition and remorse
no it gets worse, she's on the warpath and solely focused on threatening divorce

Looking at your young children, with tears in their eyes, what they must now see
a crushed father, withdrawn from the world, only wanting to take them and flee
while wisdom falters and silence overcomes, still dumbstruck on what you can do
remembering a love that once was, but no longer, realizing your marriage is through

Surviving the pains and turmoil of divorce, a challenge sought by many before
only too often leading some to those bitter waters, transfixed on evening the score
but children become the true victims suffering the most, unperceived by those in pain
only in adulthood will those scars surface, on future relationships they leave their stain

Trying to mitigate emotional scars in any divorce requires sheltering children from your hurt
their emotional well-being is of paramount importance, their exposure to anger you must avert
while difficult to accept, divorce can sometimes be for the better, perhaps you will yet come to see
your door to emotional stability was never locked, search deep within for only there lies its key

Ode To Summer's End

A hint of blush
‘pon the tips
Of leaves still lush
As lover’s lips

A breeze that sighs
As if t’was tired
Of mid-Summer highs
In doldrums mired

A crisped dry smell
Perfumes the air
Clings tight as well
To clothes and hair

A dusk that darkles
With unseemly haste
Midst Fireflies sparkle
Midst daylight chased

A trace of wood smoke
Scents the breeze
And woolen cloaks
Appear ‘pon knobby knees

Ol’ Apple trees…
Scarlet blushed in fruit
Seem piously to proffer pleas
For their scions to take root

Degree by degree…
Doth the Earth slowly tilt
Unperceived by you and me
But blossoms notice…begin to wilt

A change incremental
So slow as to be imperceptible
So cosmically elemental
So basically inevitable

A Summer that begins to show…
Its age in ways
With longer nights
And shortened days

Prepares perhaps
To soon take leave
It’s time’s elapsed
No time to grieve

Fall awaits it’s turn to shine
Upon Mother Nature’s stage
Summer sips water melon wine
And savors scent of sage

Premium Member The Child Who Once Was

* A day after my triumphant battle against Covid19 which lasted for
about six weeks, I wrote this verse. I am thankful and have realized,
never to take life for granted ever again*

                                        The Child Who Once Was

Gazing across imaginary bridge sensing the stark reality of his

              unforeseen last breath of day

Silent vertical steps ascending took a glimpse of the other side

              mottled shades of indistinct gray

Memory of a dire scene skillfully contrived noticed weakness in

              human naivete so furtively deceived

Faint voices while flesh hovers in what seemed like an eternity

              reverberate sound of rapture unperceived

Death a new beginning devoid of pain elevates sadness to bliss

              ending preconceived upheld notions

When dreams enfold every ounce of being then tenderly caress

              acceptance banish prehistoric illusions

Receding waves of enduring torments yielded healing moments

allowing the soul to discover inner space

Amidst the cradle of darkness flow tears of contentment for the

child who once was received celestial grace

Premium Member Depth of Silence

The life stream swerves in undulating landscape,
the concert of murmur cascades melody
that ripples in the whispering air,
the sound of music flies past me unheard
in the depth of silence.

Rains fall in torrent on parched psychic tree,
the rhythm of aria pulsates on dancing leaves,
I keep my succinct senses alert in the scene,
but the symphony fades away unperceived

From the cacophony of unnerving clamor
voices go back to where they come from,
for the stark reality remains hidden shrouded
within the unreachable abyss of my mind
in the depth of silence.

As I walk on the squally path of distraught
the shards of awareness scatter on the trail,
the buds of emotion wither away unbloomed,
the wilted petals lie in the discarded debris
in the depth of silence.

The consciousness layers I cross going inward,
and discover the divine lotus blossom inside,
I hear beguiled the primordial music within
where a speck of universal soul in me resonates
in the depth of silence.

Connected

The deep unfathomed solitude
of peaceful still tranquility
abounds within the sounds
of unperceived connectivity.

Calm beneath the waves
in a bliss of total ecstasy
and lost within the joy
of a moment in eternity.

Here any simple thought
creates a world of reality
which fades beneath the surface
of the lake we call insanity.

Swirling with our hopes and dreams
a maelstrom that's illusory
within the still enchanted figure
of a lone and single entity.

The Tragedy of Dementia

The Tragedy of Dementia

By Elton Camp

What was Lora has faded away
Slowly, inexorably, irreversibly

Competence, intelligence, caring
Lost in a morass of tangled neurons

Unperceived by her in the early stages
Though all-too-evident to her family

“They say I can’t drive anymore
I can, but they just won’t let me”

Parents she wants to pay a visit
Though dead for decades now

Frustrating confusion interspersed
With a day or so of relative clarity

More and more, growing uncertainty
“Now just who did you say you are?”

Adults claiming to be her children
It can’t be true, but they still insist

She stares at one, uncomprehending
“I have a daughter with that name”

To her husband of sixty years duration
“I don’t know you, we aren’t married”

Finally the end, unmercifully slow
Death enveloped Lora like a fog

Premium Member Absolute Truth

The absolute one,
the primordial light of the universe
lights perennially the essence of the living.
The ultimate one,
the primeval energy of the universe
drives perpetually the destiny of the existent.
The invisible rays of enlightening
travel across the infinite space,
the profound energy is manifest in the eternal soul.
All contained in the only one, the absolute truth.
The omnipresent is ingrained in everything that exists
and shares the light of the absolute truth.
Yet each one is like a tree in the forest of diversity,
each one is like a flower in the garden of plurality.

The truth unsensed and the oneness unrealized
generate conflicts of intolerance,
debase the blessed existence,
cause bloods to flow in strife,
grow distances in collapsed relationships.
In the restive blind mind in futile pursuit of peace
the bliss of the divine soul remains unperceived.
Let the tormented life get the supreme solace,
let it feel in the soul the touch of the absolute truth.
