Notes About The Poem

President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

The voting was done,
     and Donald Trump won.
So many are glad,
     yet quite a few mad.
Voters have spoken...
     fix what is broken,
and wipe the slate clean
     though hard it may seem.

Democracy rules
     to give us new tools
find creative ways
     to better our days.
Oft old status quo
     is no way to go.
Outsiders at times
     can shape new designs
to better the plight,
     and shed brighter light.

Think...Ronald Reagan...
     values mistaken...
an outsider too,
     despised by a few.
This Hollywood star
     met President's bar
at last to become
     a great number one.

Yet, Trump, right or wrong
     is mocked by the throng;
no credit he wins
     by those fake-news spins...
on what he's achieved,
     they shape unperceived.

Okay, there are things
     that agita brings,
and some just can stand
     his tweets out of hand.
He is what he is...
     perhaps too much fizz,
but gets the job done
     and tells you he won.

Our nation at heart...
     and zeal off the chart,
let's give him a break...
     in backing, partake.
Unity's needed
     peacefulness pleaded.
Let's give him a chance
     with a cheerful stance.

Congratulations Sandra: Very uplifting to read all the Trump poems. There is a great need for people to be united behind their President. That is what has always made America great. SuZ

Well said and hear, hear!!! by the way, this may interest you: a study revealed that 80-90% of high school students can't tell real news from false. I say that because immediately following the election I got on Face Bk and wondered about that very thing (in adults.) Such discernment skills must be taught to catch up to the internet. Again, a mighty fine job ... CayCay

I wish I could agree with the words of this finely crafted poem. But REagan was a good man and his wife was a lady. We are starting with a horrid man and a woman not much of a lady. I feel ill just thinking about them. Nicely done for the contest though! (by the way, democrats have absolutely no power now, so for me it's a very unbalanced government which spells trouble in River City)

Oh ye of little faith! This is a great country, we will prevail. It will happen a lot quicker when everyone gets on board. I have faith in this great country.

The decision has been made and it is the will of the people. I especially like these lines "Outsiders at times can shape new designs To better the plight and shed brand new light" We have to wait and see what transpires - aw we do for Brexit in the Uk. Good luck in the contest:-) hugs Jan xx
