Standing on a mountain peak
I find myself surrounded
by a breezy cerulean sky.
How peaceful and restful
is heaven’s hue.
Nature has breathed her essence on me.

Later I bathe in deep aqua blue
and again I am amazed.
How soothing and serene
is nature’s watery embrace.
How warm the caress
of this tropical sea.

Midnight’s blue has found me now.
My soul is imbued with tranquility
as I stand again on the mountain peak
gazing up at an indigo immensity
where myriads of diamonds
glitter unbearable beauty to me.
How wonderful all of it is.

Premium Member Unbearable This Longing

Closing the lamp as another year shuts off
I am between solitude and scream --
when dusk’s music aches like a groan
as brother's demise wraps veiled nights
in a requiem knighted by heaven.

It is so… I mean,

How unbearable the rake of longing
while the agony from riding this carriage
stalls to meet the unknown...
a finality abrupt, robbed by the coma
of time when his laughter suddenly breaks:

I offer my tears to a dimming moon
and hum myself to sleep.

This poem expresses something terribly real
without being mundane. The subtlety of its tone
dramatizes the pain of death, hence, the reader
totally connects with the artist's deep emotions
in a gentle yet aching way.

Bells summoned as they tolled the sad departure
Of my poor mother’s sudden demise.
I led the short funeral procession
Towards her eternal resting sepulchre.

Before her black ebony casket was closed,
I looked intently down at her, still beautiful.
Her dress, her favourite, all lace in black.
That was her last and final wish.

They laid her in a damp black tomb
Surrounded by tall dark cypress trees,
A breeze sighed and soughed softly in sorrow
While I stood head bowed down in grief.

Lifeless leaves fell in yellow-red bunches
And covered up her ghostly grave
No tears streamed down my face, heartbroken,
Strewed instead black roses, fragrant and sweet.

The Unbearable Call

She calls and calls to me she cries
I hear her I hear her and for that am daring
For a friend and an enemy she has become
That soft kiss on my forehead
The phantom curse of our passion

How is it I and her have these conversations
The late night chats of our sorrows
The innocent depths of our dawn
By midday we play tug of war
I trying to chase her away
And she holding tight to me

We love and we cry
Sobbing on each other's shoulders
The ink undying
Fresh with each stroke
The poetry in me
The poem and the poet

Premium Member Unbearable Paul

There once was a snowman named Paul
Quite sadly he had a great fall
When he landed on his head
They thought for sure he was dead
Paul Bearers they started to call

Rich the Ball Bearer

There once was a snow man named Rich
He wore no clothing not a stitch
His snow balls were big and round
yet they were not easily found
Can you help poor rich scratch his itch?

Note: No snow men or women were harmed in the writing of these poems.
Mind you it is possible that balls might have been scratched.

Premium Member Unbearable Thirst

At sunrise newlyweds wandered from camp
hiking into unfamiliar terrain.
And now they have to spend the night in the
desert despite their unbearable thirst.

The sweltering heat of the day lingers
as the sun sets just behind the mountains.
And darkness merges with inky shadows
pooling deep within the cooler crevices.

They dosed off to the mumbled whisperings
of windblown sands rippling across the dunes.
And though their canteen was nearly empty
there had to be water somewhere out there.

Her husband asleep she filled his canteen
and took the empty one to find water.
And although she swore no tears, they still came
not for her but for the man left behind.

Wakened by the searing kiss of the sun
he realized the selfless thing she’d done.
And though he looked for her she was long gone
so he followed her tenuous footsteps.

He found her collapsed, exhausted and near death
and they shared the few drops of water left.
Yet in the midst of death's dusty embrace
angels in helicopters rescued them.

Unbearable

I hear you in your room
The words he shouts are unclear
But I hear every tear that escapes your eyes
I feel every tear that is replaced inside

Unbearable

I hear you calling out
Begging for him to stop
I'm frozen with fear
Picture clear what he's doing to you
What he's done to me

Unbearable

The sound of every time he hits you
Bruises deeper than the skin
I hear a smash and know
He's vindictively broken something you love
Stinging more than his punch

Unbearable

Children no longer allowed to talk
Fearing a beating for simply looking at each other
Now it seems clear why he kept us separate
Suffering in our solitude
Though for me yours will always be..

Unbearable

When you said to me
Recently
Your childhood ended
When you were ten
When Dad died and we moved in with him
Where you summed up our childhood
In words so powerful in their few

Unbearable

Knowing that your sad
Knowing that your crying
Knowing you can't forget
Knowing you feel what I feel
Knowing so much of what he did to you
The guilt for not being able to help you
Then, now, always.

Premium Member Unbearable Beauty In Scarlett

I look at her picture ... she'll never grow old.
A feathered headband on her small, downy head.
The pain will lessen, that's what we've been told
but we've so few memories of a babe , now dead.

Scarlett of name, a moniker bold,
for such a wee thing, fragile and young.
She won't grow into the name, will never grow old.
Won't learn to walk or talk or ever have fun.

I look at her picture, tears brimming my eyes.
She sleeps so peacefully in repose.
They say time will heal but I believe it's all lies.
The grief that we feel, no one really knows.

Her unbearable beauty left scars on our hearts.
On the day God reclaimed her ... we all fell apart.

Unbearable Beauty In Red

The first time I saw her playfully dancing in the breeze
to the soft rustling music played by the bright autumn leaves.
Under the dusky rose sky bursting in shades of red flame,
she looked like a quaint portrait came to life from an art frame.

While I gazed at her with my frozen eyes without a shame,
my heart was pounding like an acrobat on a trapeze.
She was in the park where I was playing a football game.
The first time I saw her playfully dancing in the breeze.

A gust of wind blew her red scarf like a flamboyant tease
and she sprang to catch it with soft wheezing voices of claim.
It all happened when she was tip-twirling close to the trees,
to the soft rustling music played by the bright autumn leaves.

As she was running, her scarlet chiffon dress swirled aflame,
reflecting the bright hue on her flushing skin like red cheese.
She was a feisty soul with an elegance of a dame.
Under the dusky rose sky bursting in shades of red flame.

Her scarf flew in a flurry straight to me like autumn leaves
and veiled my face. I thanked the wind gratefully for its aim.
I quickly removed it and she was in front of me ceased.
she looked like a quaint portrait came to life from an art frame.

Her blushing radiance made her look like a ruby gem.
I humbly handed her the scarf and gently asked her name.
Indeed her name was Ruby, she told me and next, I seized
the chance to ask her out. She coyly said yes with an ease.
The very first time I saw her...

Unbearable Beauty In Crimson

There’s unbearable beauty in crimson…

There are many crimson colored things in this world. How about blades of leaflets during Autumn or the beauty of a McIntosh apple? The most unbearable beauty I know is the color of crimson that poured from your lilies. When you were alive they flourished in your garden by your gazebo. Every year bulbs were planted and nourished by your tender loving hands. Fresh-cut flowers bring the most soothing scent into a home. Now that you are gone, no one is there to tend to them, and they have withered and decayed into the heated summer breeze.

shades of crimson lives
deep inside your memory-
your Tiger Lily

There are many shades of crimson colored things in this world. How about the beginning of a rainbow or the Merlot wine you used to drink? But the most unbearable beauty I know is the crimson colored lipstick you used to wear. To me lipstick represents the want to look beautiful and feel like a true woman. But to you, wearing lipstick meant you were trying to hide the effects of your chemotherapy and radiation treatments. It took a toll physically on your body, especially your face. Your need to cover up your dry cracked lips was necessary in your head. I still have that Revlon lipstick tucked gently away in my purse and I carry it wherever I go.

crimson colored lips
trying to hide your disease-
beauty comes within

There are many crimson colored things in this world. How about the cupid’s arrow on Valentine’s Day or the sweet little lady bug that crawls up your arm in the summer? The most unbearable beauty I know is the deep shades of crimson we carry in our blood. The blood that pumped through your veins, also pumps through mine. I know giving birth to me wasn’t easy but you were strong back then. Maybe too strong making it that much harder for you to try to survive lymphoma. The blood surrounding your marrow was full of disease and your ailment became your enemy. Blood is supposed to keep us alive, but the blood flowing through your lymph nodes took you away from me.

mother and daughter
sharing the same ancestry-
your crimson cancer

My dear precious child….
But, for the life of me
I do not know how anything could be more beautiful
than the sight of you asleep
With your chubby, cherub cheeks
in shades of rose and pink
You've been bundled in a flannel gown
in tiny roses I have found
A soft cocoon will keep you warm
Your tiny fingers wrap around
……. my own

I hold you tight against my breast
Your breath will catch my heart

I have given it thought,
and have decided that nothing of beauty could compare,...
No sunrise, no sunset,
no flowering garden, or forest of trees,
no sonnet or melody, no fragrant spring breeze,

I would,… if I could, ….paint this precious moment,
and frame it,....
to hang in the confines of my heart,....
to keep you from ever
                           growing older

Unbearable Pain

Another day comes to be
like a a warm summer breeze
but my heart aches.
Why do I suffer with aches
in this body?

As I walk I feel faint
my knees are weak
my tummy like a creek.
Doctors every week
but yet so weak.

Some day to dance
and go place
to place
free of aches.
I want to fly
like an eagle
on the warm breeze.
Yet I feel like a tree
in the wind swaying
side to side.
