Entering the doorway through my heart
Following the nuance of space
Allowing expansion ~ mystery ~ and curiosity
To guide me into realms of spiritual awakening
Journeying through moments in time

Filled with opportunities
To appreciate and cherish
To express gratitude
To be connected to the forces
Of nature and humanity

Together we take flight
Guided by white hawks
Silently lifting off
Into darkened skies
Kissed by gray hues

Alighting on silken clouds
Transporting us higher
A deep inhale as gentle breezes
Tickle my earlobes and caress my soul

My heart is open ~ expanding ~ gaining insight
Exposed
My tears flow freely
I allow the pain and suffering to become me
As I focus on illumination and helping others
With embracing arms and heart alive
Calling out to our elders and animal spirits
To join in our collective dance

The soft wind carries us
We float and fly and glide
Entering the realm of light
Sunbeams vibrating at the edges of perception

A fuzzy twinkling as our eyes excite
Riding magic cloud carpets
Above ocean’s breast
Gazing down
The beauty becomes us
Gold light rays skate on undulating waves
Illuminating tide’s glimmering foam
A waltz of light and sound
Briny majesty

Luminous shafts dance and sway
In a lovers embrace
Across veridian waves
Passionately singing out
Becoming one

Our voices ~ melodies
Songs of our ancestors
Ballads from distant shores
Past and present
Reveal themselves in
Tender haunting notes
Arriving on mist’s fingertips

Hoovering close to Mother Ocean’s surface
We hear her heartbeat
Lap lap lap ... bubbles ... breath
Surface foam breaking
She appears in nature’s coat of shiny black
A regal humpback
A tranquil Goddess welcoming us

We ride upon this graceful giant
As she whispers her secrets
Feeling her slow movement
Through watery depths
Turning gently ~ moving up and down
We welcome her strength as
Turquoise tides caress us

Guided by celestial navigation .... we ride
Gazing up at the sparkling stars
We listen to the collective heartbeat of eternity

One breath
One exhale
Together

Premium Member Take Me To Nirvana

Free me from servitude of constraining boundaries
Guiding life’s journey, questing meadows pristine,
Beyond void of nothingness, afar hills of misery,
Rescuing from oblivion, from doorways of abyss,
From pathos of mortality, from realm so ordinary,
Take me, sweet fairy, beyond world of drudgery.

Thrusting spirit of vitality, show me where to exit,
For verdant prairies burbling streams of serenity
Buoying ambrosial instincts of ethereal themes,
Seeking supernatural intrigue of esoteric dreams
Vying ecstatic feelings blossoming dawns of bliss;
Take me, sweet fairy, to the frontiers of tranquility.

Navigate me away from emptiness roiling destiny,
Away from the distraught flaunting pride egoistic,
Away from ambitions yearning things materialistic
On the wings of enlightenment leading to harmony,
Transporting to transcendence~ heavenly, idyllic;
Take me, sweet fairy, to peacefulness of sanctity.

Lift me above darkness of life’s tenebrous clouds,
Enlighten visage of impercipient, ignorant shrouds,
Attaining equilibrium within purpose and meaning
Discarding grievances that steal virtuous equities;
Take me to nirvana ~ to paradise of utopian peace,
Take me, sweet fairy, to domain of blissful ecstasy.

In Forbearance

Where was I
when repo men invaded,
possessed,
boxed me up within his cool heart
fragrant in its distaste of warmer climates?
You know,
climates governed by love.
(Daydreaming of knights, that's where.)

Now I have only so much patience remaining
for this slapstick brain-
a nasty reminder, the heckler of my heart,
what spews sensibility
when I simply yearn to err.

And I scarcely have time to mourn
his devil's smile
leaving southward in moving vans
transporting my pieces
(all the valid ones)
with him
as I sit numbed,
next to climbing ivy poisoned by my disbelief,
broken
unpaid for.

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

Since First I Saw You

Since first I saw you, it was your eyes,
mesmerizing, your gaze transporting
me to a realm, not of fantasy, real,
where young men go when cupid’s
arrow takes root.

Since first I saw you, it was your lips,
captivating, holding me frozen
in anticipation of our lips brushing
for the first time.

Since first I saw you, it was your voice,
a crescendo, light, invigorating,
each word you speak intensifies
my hearing, enveloping each
note, time ceases as I hang motionless
savoring, memorizing.

Since first I saw you, it was your hair,
long, flowing, gently rising above
your shoulders as a slight breeze
passes through sending waves
of your essence my way.
The sun magnifying each strand,
highlighting the minute
variances of invigorating color,
creating a halo effect, a portrait of
your beauty forever imprinted.

Since first I saw you, It was you,
my love forever more for you,
only you.

Premium Member Snowcapped Graves

Snowcapped graves marking frozen lives once shared
Reminding me of the winter graveyard walk, unable to let go
Frozen in shock, in a day that no words could show
My being shattered, alone again, with no answers to anything
I remember what it’s like to feel like I cannot go on,
With this life dealt to me, like a bad hand of cards
I remember the lack of opportunity to say goodbye
So instead, I stood at our grave, talking to the dirt
Oh how much can return, by a sight seen in this way
Snowcapped graves transporting thoughts to that day

The Stillness All Around

How beautiful the snow sparkles tonight like tiny little gems.
As the moonlight shines down so peacefully on them.
The stars how they twinkle so softly..what a sight.
Such a wondrous beauty I behold in the Heavens tonight.

I sit in awe of the stillness that encompasses all around.
Whilst downy snow falls like feathers floating to the ground.
God has given my life such a quiet peace to behold.
Such treasures a many my heart finds in the cold.

So many gifts tonight these brown eyes hold so dear.
Quiet befalls this wonderland that only my soul can hear.
Transporting my thoughts to where angels fly so high.
As I imagine what heaven is like and I breathe a soft sigh.
Sweet dreams will invade my sleep where I lay me down to rest.
Enveloped in Gods arms of love knowing He gives me his very best.

old familiar songs
on wings of time
tug at my heart strings

transporting me through

Winsome Wisteria

Eden open your arms to grace
Wisteria's soft petaled blooms
Draped stunningly about Spring’s face
In shades of lavender like plumes.

Your scent wafts heady in the breeze
When racemes descend from above.
Divine as the flowering trees
Your sight captures my heart with love.

Goddess Venus must be aware
Of the glory that you bestow.
Like dangling ringlets in Spring’s hair
Wind sprinkles your petals below.

When over the arbor you vine
I'm deeply moved by your presence
You loom aesthetically divine…
Transporting me with your pleasance.

Tropical Splendour

Tropical sunshine
streaming down
from a clear blue and white sky
with fleecy white clouds
edged with wisps of mist
like giant grains of popcorn
drifting slowly by
way up in the sky

The sunshine
bathing the sugar cane fields below
with golden sunbeams
saturating the texture
of its long grass-like leaves
with its radiance
enlivening them and
transforming the fields into
an emerald sea
of brilliant green

Tropical breeze
swaying the sugar cane leaves
gently caressing them
making them dance in unison
like the waves of the ocean

The dancing leaves
vibrating in harmony
with each other
create a murmuring sound
that builds in intensity
and reaches a crescendo
like the roar
of the waves of the ocean
setting the leaves
in a wild dance of ecstasy
and then gently subsiding
to the soothing sound
of a gentle breeze
inducing a state
of peacefulness
and tranquillity

At such moments
alone with nature
one can feel a strange unity
with everything around
Unity that is so strong
and overpowering
that one loses consciousness
of one's individual self
one has no consciousness
of time and space
but only of that moment
- the infinite eternal NOW

One's consciousness seems to merge
with a deeper consciousness
of the unity of all things
in nature and the cosmos
One experiences an awareness
of a deeper reality
that is impossible
to describe in words

One makes contact
with one's cosmic roots
in a dimension where
time and space
are irrelevant
It is the synchronisation
of one's consciousness
with the absolute
and ultimate reality
of the cosmos

As a young boy, around nine or ten, I used to love to be in the sugar-cane fields in my native tropical island, Trinidad. I got a natural high, being dazzled by the brilliant sunshine and listening to the sighing of the sugar cane leaves as they swayed in the breeze like the waves of the ocean. I felt that Nature was speaking to me, transporting me to another world where I connected with my cosmic roots, becoming part of the unity of all things.

Premium Member A Response To Your First Poem

New Year, Past Years

Dawn, looking as blush as twilight,
Where the silhouette of trees still lingers
And envelopes me—
Transporting me to my world of yesterday.
I can still hear my children’s laughter;
Watch them play and dance
To their sweet singing tunes.
How quiet the morning is now
That they are grown and gone.
As I look out toward the grey sea
And Diamond Head
I can see their faces in the rising sun.

Response Poem:

As More Years Pass

There is more beauty in my life now
Than I could have ever imagined.
When our last child left home
And our voices seemed to echo
Through our silent empty rooms
I felt the sadness of a mother's
Longing to be loved and needed.
As my son blessed me with his son
And my daughter with her daughter,
Our home was once again filled
With children's happy laughter and
With my contented laughter too.
I help my daughter raise her daughter
Who reminds me every blessed day
As more and more years have passed
That I have saved the best for last!

Note:
I didn't know what to expect when I posted this first poem at Poetry Soup. I certainly did not expect the warm welcome I received. I immediately felt accepted as a fellow poet by the members through their comments. I was encouraged to join by Andrea Dietrich who assured me I would like it here. She was right and I am grateful that she introduced me to this magical place where the expression of poetry is so honored. This poem became featured that same month, to my delight, and I met many new friends through their comments because of that. I also entered this poem in a contest and was given an honorable mention. It took me a while to learn to navigate this site and learn the rules of entering contests and how everything works, but soon I was comfortable here and welcoming others. What a blessing it is to share poetry with other poets who appreciate poetry as much as I do.

True Motives

Moonbeams kiss on
luscious curves of love
To reach and Stretch
from skies above
Crystal snow flakes
begin to dance
On frigid winters breeze
as if by chance
Joining together before
this winters eve
Harmonizing making
ones heart believe
Twirling shinning bright
as stars appear
Reflecting love as the
eve draws near
Whispering flurries
speak to my soul
To tell of beauty that
makes one lose control
Where shimmering lights
sparkle within space
Flowing gently transporting
to another place
All while caressing
thoughts so transparent
Allowing ones true motives
to become apparent

Premium Member Nature's Elixir

Silky smooth with taste sublime,
a creamy dream, you’ll lose your mind.
As twilight comes, her beauty shines...
This brew is sure to satisfy.

It quenches all of man’s desires,
fierce thirst induced by inner fires,
spent bodies aching to conspire
with all that leads them ever higher.

A dream, yet such a simple notion;
one sip, gears primed are set in motion
transporting bliss, fervent emotion;
nature’s elixir ~ love’s finest potion.

Premium Member Dreamland

The thought of life supreme
in a land of my dreams
in a place where beauty dwells
among the flowing water streams

Switzerland would be that dream
among the mountains so majestic
there the Alps are the tops
this indeed is simply fantastic

Watching the cows ring their bells
walking in the green pastureland
where the air is so fresh so cool
feeling thinking this is grand

Walking in the snow during winter
skiing down many a whitened slope
with the sun baking on your back
this was what you used to hope

Life is made of visions and dreams
catching a glimpse of what could be
transporting oneself to another world
there wonders are all to see!

Premium Member The Road

I walk down a road
on my way home
it gets dirty at times
many bumps to oversee
with pebbles in the way
I have to watch
out for the holes
not to fall upon
to be stumbled and weak
Look now there is the creek
Providing all around with water
and transporting nutrients
I come upon the bridge
That continues to show me
across the road I am walking
Giving a way to overpass
My feet once would hurt
on this road home
But now I have the best shoes
as if I am gliding
I come across many signs
some say turn left
some say turn right
some forsee a dead end
But I will continue to go straight
to follow the one way in route
avoiding all uturns
For I am being guided
and pulled toward my home
