Premium Member Science In Flatland

You, a scientist
with a poet's heart,
and I a poet,
with a love of science,
approach the unknown
like blind men to
an elephant.
We both know it is there.
We've each touched it
briefly.
It teases and tantalizes,
as it did today,
when each called the other,
with the same insights,
and finished each others
thoughts.
Can we track it down
like dark matter?
This has no universal
boundaries from which
to gain a sum.
Can we analyze it's symptoms?
Rise above it
like Flatland.
Map it? Chart it's moves?
Explore it's topography
with insensitive hands?
Where's it's trunk?
Where's it's tale?
Are we idiots going over
old ground?
Are we touched?
We know it's out there
because we both rode
the beast when
we least expected it,
and backed away,
when it began to show
it's face.

Premium Member Finally Alive

I met him when I was a young girl
Heart racing the first time we kissed
In me, he touched upon some wellspring
Of hope for a deep and passionate grace
Flowing through me like the promise of an ache

I was with him for a time, not so long
But his kiss stayed with me, beckoning my heart
Touching my thoughts with tenderness and hope
Caressing my feelings with a gentleness
That tingles and tantalizes my spirit

I left him for some time, thinking of him often
We touched each other’s souls, yet never
Found the opportunity to share our lives
With more than a passing of moments and weeks
We were often left with a lingering affection

Finally, as time will do – we were left older
Wiser and filled with the truth that we had gone
Through this life without ever living out the dream
We shared – a dream of the love we had
And ultimately, we decided to marry and beget laughter

We shared one perfect year – there were no tears or fears
Only happiness and joy, inspiration that comes from knowing
You’ve found the one God intended for you, the miracle
That whispers across the heart like a intimate thought
Welcoming you home, to the only home you could know

It was one perfect year – and death touched down
With it’s dark and heavy hand, leaving only the print
Of lasting grief – from which there was no relief
Sorrow that would last through every tomorrow
And leave only the loss that left the other longing for

Death

Yarrow and Lavender

Yarrow spun like golden threads stitched upon the field
A patchwork of lavender highlights, tender they sway
Above exploits of brilliant lime stems they pledge to shield

The wind ruffles natures bedspread of a delicate crochet
Blossoms sashay along rows in a flower show runway
My eyes feast, entranced, at the brilliance of the palette
To uncover a Monet in a brushed purple and yellow duet

Perfume tantalizes the air into a hushed spray of reverence
With bees humming through a chorus in a magical vignette
I sit in awe as I feel the earth touch the sky in effervescence

Premium Member My Mid Winter Orange Travels

The blooming luster of citrus oil
upon my pine cabinets, tantalizes my senses
and I am transported to the tropics,
escaping midwinter’s clutches.

The sun-kissed, sterling baubles
adorning each rolling wave’s crest,
are pearlesque raindrops dancing upon the
eternal sands; tiny cantaloupe balls for a
sand-crab’s weekend party.

A golden-orange sky-orb hangs above the
crystalline waters of the Atlantic;
a tangerine, popcorn ball for the angels to share.
I watch the cloud-angels gather overhead;
Raphaelite puffs swarm the carrot-colored skies;
a gathering of sacred rites,
that I am privileged to witness.

My skin drinks in the sweet, apricot nectar
from Heaven’s light-spray and I take another sip of
chilled Orange-Julius...ahh...

Premium Member A Kiss

What is it about a kiss
that tantalizes the heart,
while filling the soul with bliss?

The pleasure of it is such
that it begs intimacy;
a feeling beyond mere touch.

It's how humans convey love,
augmenting reality
with passion poets speak of.

It's a smoldering embrace
that ignites flames of desire;
melting the fabric of space.

Healing hurts with its magic;
it makes small pains go away,
and bigger ones, less tragic.

It's a sensual caress,
physically imbuing
feelings; souls need to express.

It is like a promise made;
a symbol of your love and
an emotional band-aid.

Haiku Trilogy

Haiku Trilogy

Fox poises mid-step

Rabbit scent tantalizes

Mouth waters wildly

Eyes peer intently

Haunches crouched, slung low to ground

Biding time to spring

Mountain lion growls

Padded feet part tall grasses

Hunter now hunted

A Mixture of Tea

I Like The 'Black Tea, The White Tea
and The English Breakfast & Earl Grey'
and I Serve 'Rooibos' and 'Ginger' Teas
In My Silver Pot, Cups & Tray

I Like The 'Rose Tea and Herbal Teas
& The Honey-Vanilla-Chamomile'
& 'Apple-Cinnamon' & 'Orange-Pekoe'
Topped With Sliced Lemon Wedge Frills
(& Balancing Cup & Saucer & Carrot Cake's A Skill)

I've Teas of 'Lavender & Hibiscus
& of Jasmine' Flavored Hints
I Pour These Liquid Petals
To Be My Pretty Porcelain's Contents

and That Brand of 'Ancient Tea Trees'
& of Ceylon's '1001 Nights'
Tantalizes My Tastebuds
With Their Dark Teabags Delights

And Exotic Ginseng Teas Blend Into
A Warm & Soothing, Brewed Bond
As A Free Tea Leaf Floats Like
A Lotus In A Cup Pond

Swirling A Cream or Sugar? Concoction
In A Teaspoon's Pool
Gently Lifted To Our Lips Breath
To Savor & Cool

Wafting Aromatic Scents
Thru My Parlor Among My Guests
Or Just Me In My Kitchen
As Day Begins Afresh

But The Tea Mixture Taste
of A Preference Best For Me
Is The Oolong, Added With Peppermint
and Pure Green Tea

aaaah ... slurp
Join me for a sip ... slurp

Premium Member Exquisite Pain and Joy

There is exquisite pain
In being offered a beautiful gift
Fine the wrapping
The bows beautifully beguiling
The attached card:
Love’s testament in writing

Everything indicates
The contents are perfect
What lies inside
Can satisfy, electrify, gratify….
BEAUTIFY, yes, beautify your life
Wrapped up in pretty paper
The outside tantalizes
Alluring me to open
Open…Open…OPEN!

Yet….
I sit and stare
At the beauty before me
Thinking...rationalizing...
Nothing lasts forever
NOTHING
Were the gift to be handled and fondled
It might lose its newness
Its mystic
Its beauty
It might get...old
And so
The gift sits there
Unopened
But there is exquisite joy in knowing
In there beats a heart for you
Strong and true
Experiences fresh and new

When you are stronger
You will pull that pretty blue bow
Yet for now...
it’s good to know
the gift remains waiting...

The gift is for you

Said My Wondering Eyes

Said my wondering eyes.
Your image tantalizes me.
mischievousness pierces
through lascivious eyes
sinking into mines,
waiting to touch.
A sugary kiss
on soft lips
lusciously pasted.
My palpitating heart
like a butterfly revel to nectar,
with magic slowing its wings,
and gloating it's colors.
Never will we part.
Oh ecstasy Indeed I am indebted,
This tingling excitement of a day dreamer
and a sweetness to savor.

Jocelyn

JOCELYN
( Acrostic )

Jocelyn, tthe most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard
Sound of music that tickles a man’s heart and soul
Like a star that twinkles in the sky at night
A sweet name that makes one to smile.

Oh! how amiable and adorable you are
a fragrant red rose in the garden of one's heart
Your eyes are so bright that tantalizes one's mind
Your smile makes the world go-round.

Charming replica of Venus, the goddess of beauty
In the heart of the man who loves you truly
Poet's inspiration that moves his imagination to play
And ask the birds how to tweet and fly away.

Erudite, lovely and honest woman
An ideal and sublime lady of wisdom
Making plans and blue prints for a dwelling place
Where her kids will someday run and play.

Loyalty and sincerity are good virtues to possess
These, let it reign in your heart
 Disseminate to the younger ones
Embed in their mind the Solomonic wisdom.

Yes, love is a many splendored thing
But your heart to only one man
The sanctity of love never to blaspheme
  Respect, cherish and never disdain.

Natty, and humility, are your qualities to treasure
A glory and crown to be kept forevermore
You’re a woman of dignity, integrity and decency
A woman of rectitude and probity.

Clematis Cirrosha (French Sonnet)

Great grin, glow, O glow, ‘til grizzled I grow, humming
Brightly bring bliss back before boredom burns me black
My morn muse minding merry mountains’ moulded rock
Tantalizes thoughtless thought that taunts thoughtless thing
Lulling, longing, life with you, my love lives each day
Whispering wind warmly wheeze words o’ awe, I feel
Forever, firm beauty you own, as always will
Be beauteous blossom, bed o’ boredom stays at bay

Dearest darling, don’t dare dry honeyed aroma
Tempest thorns o’ thunders though sure to us they throw
Yet, you-- yodelled youth o’ yore to death not to sow
And, Angels adore you-- Clematis Cirrosha
Let love o’ mine, for you, flow in the darkest night
Heart diamond o’ thine, how precious is your light

Bacon, Morning and Camping

The smell permeated tents and campers
A mixture of smoke from the camp fire
And the smell of bacon cooking
Was like an unmistakable beacon
Like a loud speaker telling all in the area
That breakfast was cooking
Enhancing an insatiable appetite
That hit the pit of your stomach like a freight train
Slowly one by one people were awakening
Coming out of their shelters of the night
The weather is sweet with morning dew
And the smell that lingers
Tantalizes the taste buds of all around
The one doing the cooking sincerely regrets
That not enough bacon was purchased
To feed the whole camp.
