Exquisite Pain and Joy

There is exquisite pain
In being offered a beautiful gift
Fine the wrapping
The bows beautifully beguiling
The attached card:
Love’s testament in writing

Everything indicates
The contents are perfect
What lies inside
Can satisfy, electrify, gratify….
BEAUTIFY, yes, beautify your life
Wrapped up in pretty paper
The outside tantalizes
Alluring me to open
Open…Open…OPEN!

Yet….
I sit and stare
At the beauty before me
Thinking...rationalizing...
Nothing lasts forever
NOTHING
Were the gift to be handled and fondled
It might lose its newness
Its mystic
Its beauty
It might get...old
And so 
The gift sits there
Unopened
But there is exquisite joy in knowing
In there beats a heart for you
Strong and true
Experiences fresh and new

When you are stronger
You will pull that pretty blue bow
Yet for now...
it’s good to know
the gift remains waiting...

The gift is for you

Delightful poem Eileen.the gift brings anticipation and excitement to the recipient but these feelings don't last. The spell is broken when the gift is opened but the thought, the care and the heart that comes with the gift lasts. Enjoy the gifts wrap or unwrap

This is very beautiful Eileen, I was gonna put a bow on and wrap myself up in a box, but if you dont open me, I might suffocate!!!!!

I myself am a lover of anticipation...and even more I believe in it. But one does not stop there; it is a build up that leads to full satisfaction ... the gift is there to be enjoyed. Avail yourself of it....some gifts do have the power of renewal! hugs // paul

Thank you, Paul...I adore pretty gifts...simple things that carry the heart of the giver touch me deeply. Words...my favorite types of gifts. A person can gift himself. SO much to think and ponder on. There are many considerations to accepting a gift....strings attached, perhaps? Thanks for your comment. Good to be in touch again.

Enjoy the paper the bow, the anticipation and mostly the love that would cause the person to take the time to express their love in such a special way. Store the memory and feeling away in your heart so that you can reopen that gift over and over again. By saving it you rob the person of their anticipation, they wish for your joy.
