Premium Member Nuts In the Soup
"Nuts are in the soup!"
That's what I've heard: not so absurd
Some add a pinch of spice now and then,
from wit and the sharpened nib of a pen.
Nutty little writers who like to fill
the soup with limericks about 'poop.'
But have other poetic skills.

An almond releases...

Premium Member Nuts in the Soup
I wrote these lines 7 years ago, slightly edited today.
Perhaps they have more meaning now than they did then.

"There are so many nuts in the soup!"
That's what I hear and see and it's not absurd.
Some poets add a pinch of spice now and...

Salute the Sweet Tooth Eh
Nutritionist, diabetes or
dietician
All to be unheeded in my
sweet tooth's opinion.

For how can I abandon
That chocolate canyon?

And same goes for yummy
chocolate fudge
Eh to a trifle could I bear
any grudge?

Ah treacle or caramel pudding
And apple crumble needs no
bidding

The craving wishes to devour...

Premium Member A Great Wedding
The bride looked so lovely
All dressed up in lace,
The groom by her side
In His rightful place.

Food in abundance,
 A mountain at least,
Guests by the hundreds
 Flock to the feast.

French bread and garlic
Prawns in clay pots,
Sweetmeats and jellies
And ice cream for tots.

Chopsticks provided
For eating the...

Conniving Tongue of a Liar
Words blended with honey, dripping,
completely gullible, I continued sipping,
drinking in all those little deceptive lies.
and never once questioning the alibis.

Conniving sweetmeats slipped from a tongue
became fetid droppings, as offensive as dung.
Crafty candy-coated lies were only a fallacy.
Liars should be exposed for cunning chicanery.

Premium Member Mid-Summer Night Dream
Once upon a time in the land of the Hobbits,
Fili was annoyed. He wanted excitement.
He was the youngest of the twelve dwarves,
Dressed in a blue cloak and sporting a yellow beard,
He entered into his tree house in an angry mood.
Up in the attic...

The Diet
My wife is on a diet, so am I,
her will prevails in setting what we do;
no more to breakfast on a tasty fry
nor lunch of prime Scotch mince or Irish stew.
She loves her cherry cake, but it’s now gone
and with it all the sweetmeats from...

Monet's Garden
On jade stems iris blooms gently swayed
in hues of lavender, dusty pink and mauve
until pollen seekers were lured to the banquet
of sweetmeats. Within velvet petals they feasted.

In Monet's garden the buddings grew
in variegated colors brushed on a canvas.
Pastel beauties that no fingers dared to cut,
for...

The Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny

Easter Eggs, in the shops galore,
Buy just one and you’ll want lots more.
One for Mum and one for Dad
And all the children, that’s not bad.

Easter eggs are just such fun
They herald Spring which...

A Winters Tale
The bones of winter cracked the ice black, coal black night.
A hoary wind spits frost crystals that dazzle and blur the sight.
Boney fingers of bare deciduous wood, scratch against the eaves
as the stranger's tread crackles the bracken and long dead leaves.

The villagers sleep or keep...

Second Indian Wedding
Colors of life, fertility, sanctity fly
Aromas include sweetmeats, coconut, fire
There's flowers galore, honey, spices
Not for meals only, but especially decoration
Focus now on the bride: Vermillion path
From the Center of her head, to her top height
A sign of vows of fidelity in blood (SINDOOR)
As with...
