If You Weren'T Such a Nut Meg

She had so many chances
Yet she kept muffin it up
Butter intentions were good
Just not much coffee in her cup

Couldn’t make a good decision
Too much waffling back and forth
Always peppered with doubt
Should she head south, no maybe north

Still, she was fun at a party
I would say, hummus a tune
She’d say, "Icing because I’m happy"
As the words began to croon

Maybe that’s what’s most important
Omelet let her off the hook
So she’s always in a pickle
Doesn’t do things by the book

Once again, I’m gonna help her
Since she is such a good egg
I said, girl, you’d go much farther
If you weren’t such a nut Meg

Such a Sweet Sorrow

(WITH APOLOGIES TO SHAKESPEARE)

Oh farting is such a sweet sorrow
“I’m sorry but that’s not my barrow!”
My seatmate’s nose in the air,
I act dumb and even glare~
but just then I give another blow.

Premium Member The Eye Is Such a Braggart

The eye is such a braggart with its emerald this and hazel that.
Does no one dream about an ear or a nose?
(personally ... I find the shin and pinkie toe quite fascinating)
But it is a place the Poet seldom goes,
still hot on cornea fever ... stanza after stanza after

stanza.

It's like I'm part of a Dickens' novel: A Tale of Two Spheres (oh dear)
Velvet pupils coming at you ... (attention spans beware ... we're discussing EYES)

... but what about the palms and the cowlick?
(do you have the gumption to make it poetic?)

Or is it back to the drawing board - sleepless nights
excavating further facets of the dead-lights.

I know its "infinite depths" make you sigh with Shakespearean fervor,
but really, enough is enough,
when there's so much more of me to love.

Have you so quickly forgotten the beauty of a rose?
(plug your nose and see how it goes)
I want so bad to see that lovely weirdness
chilling out beneath your temples.

I pray it's not too much to ask for a little ink spilled
to the one who showed you piano,
the sound of rain, your mother's voice.

(that curious curvature holding up your glasses
deserves a rhyme or two
... not another verse
about my baby blues!)

Just once I wanna hear someone say,
Your nose makes my heart run ...
Your chewed off fingernail brings to mind the crescent moon ... !

For your next Magnum Opus could you spare some room
for the underdog anatomy.

Did you know I have a crooked ear that's more endearing
than a heart carved into a tree?

Didn't think so! (iris hog)

Beholding In Awe and Gratitude Such a Bliss

As I amble along, a trance me shakes

an immense silence, I fear, my tread wakes

A respite from angst in an oasis of rarity

my stroll in timelessness and spirituality

A joy of mind dancing in thrill and ecstasy

lulling my soul into a winsome reverie

Forget me nots calling for vernal breeze

heartseases blooming, poundering throbs I seize

Love in a Mist promising a golden summer

a stunning pallet! a peerless paintbrush to colour

Morning glories, beauty and forbearance

flowering souls, no void and time for abhorrence

Marguerite Daisies dropping a curtsy to shiny sun

a night retreat, then paths of charm to run

One rare of gems from The Master of the Universe

poets ever carving its ineffable beauty in verse

Artists blend their appealing hues and rising perceptions

a work of Art of emotional power and pure impressions

Beholding in awe and gratitude such a bliss

many of God's grace and blessings I miss.

Premium Member Such a Beautiful Feeling

Such a beautiful feeling

I see the sunrise,
and it's no surprise
that,
I see the love light,
that shines in your eyes

I feel like I'm dreaming...
and it's,
such a beautiful feeling!

I greet the new day,
sending kisses your way
so happy just knowing
that you'll always stay

Now,
our sad hearts are healing...
and it's,
such a beautiful feeling!

Chorus
I've never had this feeling before
but it feels so wonderful,
every day I love you,
more and more
and it feels so beautiful!

Now, I see you there,
and I stop and stare
It's a wonder just knowing,
that you really care.

Our shuffled hearts,
we're now dealing...
and it's,
such a beautiful feeling!

You know it's true,
I'm crazy for you,
and I'm pretty sure,
you're feeling it too.

Now,
your love's got me reeling...
and it's,
such a beautiful feeling!

So I wrote down this song,
so glad I belong,
to someone so special,
who won't do me wrong.

Now,
true love is revealing...
and it's,
such a beautiful feeling!

Chorus
I've never had this feeling before
but it feels so wonderful,
every day I love you,
more and more
and it feels so beautiful!

Now, your love's got me reeling
and it's, such a beautiful feeling!

Yes, it's such a beautiful feeling!
Repeat two times
fade to zero

Premium Member Such a Magical Place To Be

I know the land where the lemon trees flower
where buttercups swoon and sunflowers tower
such a magical place to be, you see
such a magical place to be.

Where gumdrops in and pansies grin
and the fruit is never sour
where lilies guild with whip-poor-wills,
to sing but never cower
such a magical place to be, you see,
such a magical place to be.

Come run, let's see, just you and me,
if moonbeams ever shower
to the land where love is grand
and the beautiful lemon trees flower
such a magical place to be, you see
such a magical place indeed.

Is Death Such a Bad Thing?

Is death such a bad thing?
Its the end of all the pain and suffering,
If you could see the end of all your tears,
Death is not so bad, But I cant think clear.
Is death such a bad thing?
It would stop all the pain of a broken heart,
It would be an end of all the bad things,
Of not knowing what to do, or where to start.
Is death such a bad thing?
I'm not quite sure,
I think I would just stop breathing,
For all my sadness to end death is a cure.
Is death such a bad thing?
When it keeps your best friend,
When all they had left,
Was endless suffering.
Is death such a bad thing?
Where loneliness would be at bay,
Death is not so bad you see,
It took all the bad things away.

Poetry Soup - Such a Great Recipe From All of You

It’s very cold outside but not in here
Where I am relaxing and sipping beer
Reading all the latest poems
That everyone else has been composing

They really warm up my toes
As well as my big red nose

Just don’t stop what you are doing
As this new recipe from you and who
Means that I might just add a parsnip or two

For my own Best Winter Soup
But don’t let that ever stop you
To refine your own recipe too

Because there is so much talent and friendship here

I wish you all a Happy New Year

Premium Member Such a Pretty Bow

broad shoulders, six foot three
Rolex, Stacey Adams
suit by Armani
and she said yes

soft spoken, warm hands
piercing eyes, a Harvard degree
business law
and she said yes, yes

a dance
to Smoke Gets In Your Eyes
witty, charming, a nightcap
and she said yes, yes, yes

Mercedes Benz, Pacific Ocean
gated community, ten thousand square feet
pool, sauna, jacuzzi
and she said yes, yes, yes, yes

John Coltrane caressed the ears
Dom Perignon the bloodstream
kissed with the eyes, then the lips
and she said yes, yes, yes, yes, yes

wait, wait

grabbed her, cursed her, rippped her dress
slapped her, groped her, pinned her
mounted her, took her
and she cried no, no, no, no, no–no

Such a Light Thing

An impossible crisis intervene
is a heavy nothing to God
It’s such a light thing,
a very light thing
When we're facing a certain death trap,
it only takes a light tap
from the Hand of God
to turn a dire situation around
Completely flip it upside down,
crook the devil emissaries' smiles into frowns
This is such a very light task ...
 a vapor helium ask
A vacuum void of empty
devil indemnity,
sending attack demon dog beasts
with sharp teeth
Stressful prayers of saints
under siege ...
crushing soul gravity
Heavy hearts
dealing with weighty,
mountainous odds
Ain’t nothing but a light thing
for Almighty God,
it’s such a light thing ...
Faith given wings like a dove,
feathery joy fluttering up
to the heavens above
Prayer amen hands
given double-blessed love
Showing us that ain’t nothing too heavy,
too hard for God
Signs of a needed miracle ... something impossible,
is a nothing deed that nod
yawns Him
to barely lift His Messiah rod
With ease,
the shadow returned backward
ten degrees
This was such a light thing
Raising the dead from the grave
was such a light save
For Almighty God,
a very light thing
These be such light requests,
requiring only a slight touch
from the Finger of Power
It’s such a holy light thing —
in the eyes of God, we’re not asking much
Miracles performed
are such a very light thing ... but not to us!

Premium Member Such a Man He Was

What a lovely, lovely boy he was,
And such pretty manners-oh!
And a charming boy he was because-
He knew what to say, where to go.

Such a fine man he became, became;
And such courtly airs and flair!
As scents crowd summer, none the same,
And leave a memory everywhere.

A gallant man, so smart and all!
And honest and seemly strong.
His portrait graces palace wall;
And the days of glory are long.

Such a noble, nobleman was he,
All subtle in face and grace;
A finer man could never be,
He had admirers in every place.

As fresh a breath of air he was,
As in nature's own vast room.
And so much loved he was because
He somehow cast off all gloom.

Such a fiery knight and true!
And what a passion he gave, he gave.
Turned pale skies so to blue,
And he never, never knew a knave.

Premium Member Such a Great Surprise

Oh this will be such a great surprise!
The lovely teen girl said, showing off her big eyes.
My boyfriend’s birthday is Saturday this week.
I get to meet his parents. Shall I show him a peek?

Her best girlfriend who had talked her into shaving her head.
Was hoping the girl’s boyfriend would dump her instead.
She was smitten with him and wanted to meet….
His parents, so talking her into a shaved head was her treat.

Premium Member Don'T Be Such a Snob

Don't be such a snob, my friend,
Looking down on others who,
Haven't done single thing,
To cause such pain to you.

Because perhaps they're new in town,
Not part of the social scene,
Or mayhap they're not with it, smart,
Not beautiful, fit and lean.

Perhaps they're just the quiet type,
Mayhap they're just shy.
Maybe they just don't fit in,
No matter how they try.

Maybe they're quite friendly,
The thoughtful type and kind;
But you just won't accept them,
If so you're out of line.

Don't cause problems for someone,
Who hasn't done a thing,
To harm a single living soul,
Or to some life might bring,

Any kind of happiness,
Or any kind of joy,
Just because they don't do things,
The way you might employ.

Put yourself in their shoes,
For once think how they feel.
You'll find they're really not so bad.
It's really no big deal.

Premium Member She Such a Ravishing Sweet Georgia Peach

She Such A Ravishing Sweet Georgia Peach

I at naked horror of truth laid bare
loved her, beauty with long raven hair,
that magnificent grace of her sweet soul
those long, curly tresses blacker than coal
yet such a goddess was beyond my reach,
she such a ravishing sweet Georgia peach!

I once found the courage to ask her out
to taker her to the fair, show her about
sadly she was that day flying abroad
twas' Fate or else a timing most flawed
kissing me soft as she walked away
saying, for thy soul I shall this day pray!

I at naked horror of truth laid bare.
Loved her, beauty with long raven hair.

R.J. Lindley, Sept 9th. 1979
Sonnet, ( She of majestic beauty, kindness and grace )

Old Note:
(Fate continues its war upon this struggling soul)

New Note:
Fate and I have fiercely battled for well over 50 years
All through those years, I've suffered heartaches and tears
Yet a blessed and deserved recompense finally at last came
Now aged and a bit wiser, this declawed lion 'tis truly tame.

Is There Such a Thing As Love?

There is no such thing as love
I've decided this is true
And I've come to this conclusion
All because of you

There is no such thing as love
Though I wish this wasn't so
You proved this truth to me
When you decided to go

I wish there were such a thing as love
And that you wouldn't cheat and lie
Because every time you break my heart
I feel I'm going to die

I wish there were such a thing as love
Wouldn't that be comforting
To know that this illusion
Doesn't have to be a dream

Maybe there is such a thing as love
Because you called the other day to say
You miss me and though I want you back
Something inside's saying, Stay away.

Now I know there's such a thing as love
Only I found it in other arms
I know this is true love
Because his intentions involve no harm

Now I know there's such a thing as love
Because he would never hurt me or lie
I'm so happy that I've found true love
This time with a faithful guy!

I love him with all my heart
and I know he returns it, too
Because he doesn't lie or cheat on me
In fact he's nothing like you.
