Everyone had a unique reason for playing the Game
as we find different means for surviving Life
until the proper seconds of Death come stomping by with insistence,

some want intellectual respect shown with agitation in the opponent's eyes,
others crave the anxiety of prognostication
like gladiators uncertain of how to strike,
people commence the battle because they have something to prove
as Bobby boldly reproved the Soviets
on their asinine assumptions of superiority,

regardless, all who touch the Board want desperately
to understand the Game,
it's rituals, it's spirits,
the possibilities alive & haunting the 64 squares,
to honestly provide a homage of mind to History and to invention,
as if the nature of Chess is a dream of God's,
a subconscious engineering of grappling wants & needs,
of fears & hopes, of bravado & caution,
32 weapons arranged handsomely for the express channeling
of the Divine creative compulsion of Providence itself,

geometry made grand & gallant,
a homicide for Honor performed in the pressure of an hour,
all skilled players realise at some point
that quality brinksmanship ascends over the voice of victory
and can be reduced to the amazing beauty
of integrating logical processes with artistic allure,
misdirection a linchpin of the Master's ancient algebra,
momentum the indispensible monarch of strategy,
without It One is dictated,
mating nets, positional play, tactical moves,
a temple devoted to timeing -

I had been studying to make Sergeant,
And was scheduled for the afternoon promotion board.
To get some practice and test the waters,
I volunteered for the morning's Soldier Of The Month Board.

The Battalion recently had been given
A ticket for the well-known Berlin Orientation Tour.
During the in-brief, the Battalion Commander
Said the ticket would go to the soldier with the highest score.

As luck would have it, I won;
Beating out by a quarter of a point a Staff Sergeant.
Not only was I going to Berlin for a week,
I was recommended to be promoted to E-5 Sergeant.

The Berlin Orientation Tour didn't count as leave;
As it was considered Permissive Temporary Duty (PTDY).
Riding the duty train to West Berlin
We had to keep all the windows shaded through East German territory.

The Wall had already come down by then,
But the Soviets were still occupying East Germany.
As a group we toured a modern museum
Documenting how some East Germans had escaped to be free.

One day we passed through Checkpoint Charlie,
And saw the Soviet monuments and troops in East Berlin.
I collected pieces just chipped off the Berlin Wall
Instead of drinking coffee in the cafés of Berlin.

Premium Member In Times Like These

In times like these, "are the times which try men's souls."
We desperately need to pray for peace during this twenty-first century.
Talks and actions of hostile nations are igniting into flames of death and destruction. Do not the nations realize, nuclear weapons are capable of destroying humanity? Those who preach tyranny and terror do not really care!

When President Harry S. Truman unleased the forces of hell, when
he bombed Japan with the atomic bomb. He was hoping the nations
of the world would be completely horrified. Maybe mankind would
finally learn its lesson? We are now capable of creating and
using weapons of massive destruction. Mankind, of course, did
not learn its lesson. Creating even more destructive weapons!

When the United States signed a nuclear arms reduction treaty with
the Soviet Union, the Soviets never intended to honor those treaties.
But the two nuclear giants had several things in common, the value
of human life. They wanted to take over the world, not destroy it. They took over so much territory, they could not financially afford to provide for it. One of the reasons it collapsed was financial.

They really did not want to destroy their umbrella Communist nations.
Of course, they did not care about the basic human rights of their citizens. What about the Russians of the twenty-first century? They do not want to really die either? I am speaking about the people, not their leaders.

What about nations such as Iran, and North Korea? They do not care about the survival of their people. They deprive them of their basic human rights! They do not care if they perish from the face of the earth. They do not care if they plunge the entire world into a nuclear destructive world war!

They feel they have everything to gain and nothing to lose. According to God, the meek will inherit the earth. Those are words to live by regardless of faith, religion or politicals. Trusting God is the only really feasible solution to the forces of warfare today!

Love as always!

Stalag 42

"dedicated to Robert a Owen...a soldier who served"

bombing the monster and his minions to
on the side of the right, the just, and the true
bullets hit the bird called B-17...falling fast to earth with a shrieking savage scream

end of the dream for super heroes of the sky...pull the rip cord or surely i'll die
hit the ground with a thud but safe in the mud
devils army closes in like snarling twisted thugs
still alive but taken prisoner to a POW camp

freezing cold in dead of winter the commandant laughs...as he bakes the bombadeers the whole camp just gasps

their thoughts can't grip the horror and their minds can't grasp the madness
soldiers think of simple times before this storm of sadness
the bright and the shiny is now charred black and blue
leaving pieces of our souls in stalag 42

one year of darkness days...cold confusion...frozen hearts
like insanity intrusions bad beasts they bite and bark
but hark...we hear the distant rumble of planes, trains and tanks
soon the tables will be turned
soon the wicked walk the plank
most to their ultimate demise and ugly doom because nobody escapes from
stalag 42

liberation comes in red...soviets with sadistic smiles...the slaughter soon begins
cause they've walked a monsters mile

no bullets, bats,or boots...no the leader shows his sickle
now swastikas they scream cause they know their time has trickled
one hundred heads chopped off like pickles...blood saturates the stump
brutal nazis meet their maker in that human garbage dump

a lie would be better but it has to be the truth...evil thoughts can't be erased from
stalag 42

years they pass and days go by just like they always do
at the bottom of a bottle is where i live cause i can't trade the bad for the good
like slices of sadism in bloody drowning pools
can i rest in peace forever?far away from stalag 42

The Caricature

The Caricature
You like to label it as a nefarious empire
brought to power by an unpropitious circumstance
paint a picture of evil and malfeasance
blood soaked canvas is the final image
mass murderers, the greatest genocide
no good they have done, just vile and hate
inspired by the dynamism of the leader

black and white, no shades of gray
just a rancorous order
the caricature, of evil
the caricature, of misery
black or white, no shades of gray
don't ask, just swallow what they say
the caricature, cartoon villain
black and white, no shades of gray

from what I have seen, not as heinous as they say
from elimination of unemployment
to the strength through joy program
workers rights protected by a benevolent union
clean streets and nonexistent crime
pride in Fatherland at an all time high
health and prosperity never before seen
a million strong salute at the Nuremberg rallies

black and white, no shades of gray
tyrannical order
the caricature, of evil
the caricature, of the maleficent
black and white, no shades of gray
don't ask, just swallow what they say
the caricature, what Hollywood portrays
black and white, no shades of gray

You talk of atrocities and monstrous acts
but for once lets exam the facts
ever question if the victor lacked on an ethical standpoint?
ever committed presumptuous acts that are odious?
Examining rudiment facts, they had death camps
where the Soviets murdered 28 million in Gulags
innocents witnessed terror raids night after night
where The Royal Air Force murdered 300,000 in Dresden
so I ask who is really the hero and who is the Villain?

Black and white, no shades of gray
the caricature, portrait of infamy
the caricature, video game mad men,
black and white, no shades of gray
don't ask, swallow what they say
the caricature, almighty evil
black and white, no shades of gray

they say don't question the official history
yet I want to know why they ensconce the truth
why do they fear us finding out what really happened?
It seems we have a dichotomy between fact and fiction

suppression of truth
history written by the victors
villainize the losers
gain their sympathy
money for your industry
spread the big lie

Records of Past History

RECORDS OF PAST HISTORY

The past wasn’t all that great and the so-called “achievements” - say -
Of the past pale when we compare them to our capabilities today.

Egyptians built  the fearsome Great  Pyramid weighing 6 million tons in 20 years;
We dump 7 million tons of rubbish every year in the Atlantic without fears.

Moses   parted the Red Sea  for a while to allow escape;
But the Soviets made the Aral Sea disappear entirely from the landscape.

Moses also made the Egyptian Nile turn red for hours -
The English chemical industry constantly turns the River Tees red, and sours.

History’s important Punic Wars sadly killed 160 000 people in twenty years,
But US road accidents kill the same number in only 4 years - no tears.

More EU harvested grain is burnt weekly, to combat low-price fear,
Than a whole year of growing in the mighty Roman Empire economic sphere.

5000 people ate fish and bread with Christ : there were left 12 baskets of good food.
5000 can eat with McDonalds with no good food at all, just business shrewd.

Great  Wall of China used to be most important cultural object seen from spaceflight;
Now that’s nonsense, it is in fact Las Vegas at night.

We have been capable of eroding the Acropolis much in forty years.
How much erosion from two millennia of great civilizations? Nowhere near!

Every fifteen years or so, one  meteor  impact can destroy 80 million trees;
We remove that from the world’s forests every week with ease.

Yes our civilization is a world beater
Not just a record-from-the-past repeater

Yes Motherland!

Many years together:
Workers, collective farmers,
Live in the anti-fascist countries,
You can find us in the history as the heroes
Of International Anti-nazist Soviet Society, but
All that we had - concentratio camps for us -
Andrey Dmitrievich Saharov and all inelligent
People and freedom for our friends: yes, we
And American people decide now and forever
Who is who -
We are free citizens...
And now we can make us a gift -
All power to Soviets, no Petlura,
No Hitler, Hebels, NKVD, gestapo
And their dictataura!
Soviet - that is democratic,
Elected by all people
And very effective,
Parties and regional,
Common and origional,
Popular and progressive,
Individual and very massive -
Parliment of peoples and nations,
Societies also: congratulations!
No getto, yes Motherland!

In April of '57 the US got quite the shock
   The Soviets launched Sputnik
   The space satellite rock
We fell behind in the race from that very day,
That is, until we elected a President named
            J F K...

Only three months into his term
1961, April, back then
   Yuri Gagarin orbited Earth
Those Russians were at it again
JFK circled the wagons with the White House clan
Told 'em ~ America's got to win this race in the end...

Alan Shephard went up in the month of May
But as fast as he shot up, just that fast he came down
Compared to Gagarin, he was a monkey, a clown
Strapped tight to a board--rigid, upright
He did nothing but endure the vertical flight
     ~Unlike Gagarin, who manually controlled
his takeoff and landing, the ultimate goal

Then Grissom went up in the month of July
He seemed to fly nicely and pretty high
But at the end of the day
   His near-disastrous landing
   Clearly was NOT 'A-OK."

And by February '62
When Glenn orbited the Earth
Those Soviets led us by quite a wide berth.

Kennedy grimaced, fuming inside
He reckoned it was time for us to take pride
in our space program, to date a big bust
~ In the race 'gainst the Soviets, a win was a must

So he gathered his courage and adjusted his vision
Set out for Rice University, appeared on television
Challenging us, coaxing us, squeezing us, urging us
   with this daring question--
so the Soviets wouldn't be 'purging' us:

          Some people ask, 'Why?'
               To them I reply
            with all that I've got
               ~ Why not?

Then he set this agenda for NASA,
America's fledgling space agency:
Put a man on the moon before 1970!
    ~ JFK's proudest legacy

Postscript: On July 20, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong,
took man's first step on the lunar surface
~"One small for man; one giant leap for mankind."

George Washington chopped down a tree as a lad
Then told his dad that he'd been bad

With the stroke of a pen, Thomas Jefferson kick-started a nation
Touting revolution every so often with his Declaration

Andrew Jackson had a penchant for whiskey
Native Americans found him way too frisky

Abraham Lincoln was thin but brave
Reunited the nation and freed the slaves

As a child Teddy Roosevelt was always ill
But as President he led the charge up San Juan Hill

His cousin Franklin took over in the Great Depression
And then three times won reelection.

JFK and Jackie ushered in 'Camelot'
'Til in a Dallas motorcade he was shot

Ronald Reagan demanded the Soviets end their stall,
"Mr. Gorbachev, please, tear down that wall!"

Bill Clinton said, "It's the economy, Stupid!"
Before he was cut down by Monica and Cupid

And now Mr. Trump draw lines in the sand
Saying, "Let's make America great again!"

And did you know that Yankee Doodle preferred apple strudel
To a leftover dish of cold, wet noodles?

Hope you've enjoyed this reprise of Presidential history
Which to the majority of Americans is an absolute mystery

P.S. Rumors have it that Yankee Doodle is considering a
comeback run for POTUS in the 2020 election.
His slogan reportedly will be, "Make America
        handy with Yankee Doodle Dandy."
        The "Me-too" movement has already
        dialed in death threats ...

The Fly Who Was a Spy

Now I've landed some crappy jobs in the past,
but finally landed a job I'd hope would last,
working as a spy for the C.I.A.,
my first important job
on the wall of the Soviets that day...
Flying around with a little camera,
wearing my little hat,
I saw Putin come towards me with something behind his back,
meeting my demise with a Soviet "SPLAT!"

This was the worst ship disaster, with the greatest loss of life at sea
A German ship that was overloaded, with over 10,600 war refugees

Sank on the 30 January 1945 by a Soviet submarine in the Baltic sea
By Soviet Naval Officer, Captain Alexander Marinesko, who died 1963

Stranger than be; he was actually facing a court martial due to drink
So did this up his rankings, when as the Wilhelm Gustloff he did sink

Not so, by Oct 1945 the same year he was dishonourably discharged
After being lower from a Captain to a Lieutenant so was not life hard

No message gave that it carried refugees as it crossed the Baltic Sea
No war crime committed, carrying soldiers from the German military

The first torpedo hit the bow, as putting crew members out of action
Next hit a drained swim pool that held 373 ladies with a bad reaction

Third hit the engine rooms for Wilhelm Gustloff there is now no hope
With all of this the ship starting to portside, as began to rapidly slope

The ship carried on it four Captains, it was Friedrich Petersen's choice
To sail the ship with its navigation lights on, as the others gave voice

it was to miss a German mine sweeper convoy, coming head on in fog
This grubby weather made the rescue work of the survivors, hard flog

Though; it should be mentioned all four Captains survived the sinking
No information was found as to why, that is left, to your own thinking

Be 44 minutes after, the Wilhelm Gustloff ship was dangerously listing
Another six minutes, the ship sank bow up, her metal soul unresisting

Out of all the unlucky 10.600 passengers only 1,252 of them survived
Most lost to the very icy cold waters of the Baltic Sea, none as revived

Alas, of the 9,400 victims who died, 5,000 of them were, but, children
All those refugees wishing for a new life, they were hoping on building

After the war was over, the Soviets, returned to strip her, as in looted
Signs of hand-made damage, and detonators scarring her undisputed

Not one bit of evidence of human life on that ship was found to remain
Hiding the evidence of their blame, did though, not lessen their shame

Armageddon's End

Ballistic nukes departed Sayda Bay,
A CIA sitrep affirms French Intel,
A fleet of Russian ships was under way,
Their course at flank arrival point Mariel.

Kennedy and Khrushchev both have calloused skin,
The weeks at DEFCON2, really clipped our wings,
Aboard the sub our nerves were frazzled thin,
A war of nukes was chess without the kings.

The Captain's voice is Armageddon’s end,
ComSubPac orders are to stand us down,
The Cuban blockade ends amidst amen’s,
The Soviets have turned their fleet around.

A year of shaky peace; deceptions bed;
To arms again, our hero JFK is dead.

Turn.

You!have turned a CROSS of simple hope into some kind of SWASTIKA joke!
you spurned sandals of protection into jackboots for vandals of destruction.
you were blessed by your pope!and the patriarch of jewish dope!
with those arabs you made emperors, using loose change from the templars!
you turned towards the latest threat and burnt the hordes of soviets!
like Jericho!you turn to Berlins walls!now you strike inwards for the final fall!
now all states!towns!and home!plows the devastated rounds on tv,s or phones!
You sit upon the throne of a pharaohs dream!to choose a BUTTON?HALO?..a scream?

Go Be Offensive

I was skimming the internet
and found a man who preached,
can’t ever say that I’d agree
with any of his speech.
He hated nuclear power,
said that it should be banned,
that is was just a folly and
would be the end of man.
So I asked this man if he thought
that we faced climate change?
He said he did, so I said next,
“Then your stance is insane.
Nuclear is the only way
to meet our power needs
if you are truly serious
on being carbon free.”
I expected a fierce debate,
in which both sides might learn,
instead he cried,”I’m offended!:
and I got banned in turn.

The same thing happened when I dared
to challenge abortion,
they cried to social media
and my account was done.
No marketplace for our ideas,
no room for other views,
if we cannot challenge our thoughts,
how will we find the truth?
This haunted me for a long time,
our minds are limited,
mankind just cannot long survive
without hearing what’s said.
Our lives and futures will stagnate
without the constant church,
sometimes we need to go offend,
and be offended in turn.

What good is an echo chamber?
How will you deal with harm,
If all you do is run away
from words that may alarm?
And since some can misinterpret
even the nicest words,
to silence people for ‘offense’
is utterly absurd!
That would mean that no single soul
would every get to speak,
since someone [always takes offense,
somebody always freaks.
It’s wrong to silence the people,
even if inside you burn,
to speak is to be offensive,
and be offended in turn.

Even murderous soviets
could not stop what folks say,
truth and opinion will get out,
they always find a way.
Hiding from it makes the mind weak,
untested, unprepared,
dealing with it strengthens the soul
and teaches the unaware.
Difference always brings conflict,
but is that a bad thing?
If offense brings a new idea
that means you’re still changing.
Our minds aren’t meant to be static,
for challenges they will yearn,
to grow we must be offensive,
and be offended in turn.
