Lovesick Ollie Octopus
was feeling so terribly sad
He burst into floods of tears
and sobbed to his grandad
Grandad said now Ollie
will you please stop crying
The ocean is salty enough
that fact there’s no denying
Ollie begged grandad’s advice
he said Ollie just listen to me
You’ve got more than one heart
in fact you’re blessed with three
You’ve got eight long tentacles
which can act as loving arms
But all the female octopuses
are still oblivious to your charms
Grandad scratched his head
and said now listen sonny
You need to charm the ladies
with jokes - so make them funny
And if you get them laughing
as sure as sure can be
One's bound to fall in love with you
buy a joke book and just see
So Ollie purchased a joke book
and learned lots of fishy puns
But when he tried to use this line
about the ‘Codfather’, his date runs!
So Ollie joined an inter-net dating site
one called ‘plenty more fish in the sea’
He met a lonely octopus called Olivia
they’re now engaged and are truly happy
Thanks to Harlequin for the inspiration xx

Imagine the sun is shining hot
Over a wet sandy beach
And the wind is blowing cool
As the sea rushes to your feet
Do your best to be kind
And look on the bright side
Try to love somebody
And make them happy today
When you open your eyes, will you see me?
Can we understand, this was meant to be?
I know that we both could use some love,
My heart flutters, likes wings on a dove.
When you close your eyes will you remember,
Sitting by the fire on that cold December.
Realize the flame that burns in my heart,
Take my hand, I’ll show you the part.
When you are frustrated and feel alone,
Take my hand, I’ll walk you home.
We can star gaze and make a wish,
As time flies by, we hear this swish.
When you’re alone and going to sleep,
Do you pray to God, for your soul to keep?
Will you receive that gift from above?
All you may need is somebody to love…
Tell Somebody
We walk through life from day to day,
Sun up to sun down; and then hours into the night.
We try to find a path that will meet our feet,
with challenge, and not regret.
Regardless it is a hard road.
Yet…
Miracles are real.
Have you ever seen angels dance?
Have you heard a child laugh,
after being sick for a long time?
Have you ever seen a mother,
hold her infant close? Safe.
Have you ever listened to rain drops on leaves?
Wind rushing through trees?
Bird songs that echo like memories,
we… long to repeat.
I have walked in dark places.
I have a need, to speak.
All that I must say…
I have no words!
I would sing you a song, but I am bad at that.
I would cook you food that might help with the shakes.
Yet, it is never “I”, but “Him.”
A small bird can do nothing else,
but spread seeds as they do the very thing,
they are meant to do.
Amen.
I am the sunset's radiant smile
I am rain's melody with songs sublime
I am the energy it takes every day to
Play life's game!
I am that sound in pounding heartbeat
in rhymic caress.
I am the colors prompted by a rainbow
That awes the eye and touches the soul.
I am the sigh a mother prays
Listening to a sick baby's cry.
I am passion delivered in a kiss
I am starlight, said by some...
A song rendering love's melody
I am somebody, uniquely, a butterfly
Growing wings.
I was told once, "God had given me Sparkle Magic!"
Children know it's true!

I have no roof to shelter under
When the sky begins to rain
For an umbrella through the thunder
I will always hope in vain.
Wherever you are
i'll find you
Wherever i am
You'll find me
If everyone leave
You'd stay....
You are my lifetime friend..
You are my soul mate....
You loved me before
i was even born...
before anyone ever
knew my name...........
Yes You loved me........
You love me still............
(Yes you are "My God")

Gotta hate somebody;
someone's always wrong.
Gotta hate somebody;
we just can't get along.
If it ain't for the color,
it'll be for the creed.
We judge the deed by the doer
and not the man by the deed.
Well, draw the line and pick a side:
There's only black and white.
We both stand for peace and love;
but we can't both be right!
You gotta hate somebody.
Gotta hate somebody;
it's so much easier to do---
to put the blame on another
than put the blame on you.
Ain't no conversation
if it's just one side.
Can't be no education
with a heart of pride.
So draw the line and pick a side:
There's only black and white.
We both stand for justice;
but we can't both be right!
You gotta hate somebody.
Gotta hate somebody;
you can't reason with hate.
But if we don't come together
it'll be too late.
If we both want freedom,
it seems simple to me:
We'll have to find some middle ground
and agree to disagree.
Well, tolerance is harder
to practice than to preach;
but you can't have true diversity
if you control the speech.
You can't have equality
if one side has to kneel;
and you can't have compassion
if you don't know how they feel.
So if you hate somebody,
take some time to reflect:
Liberty is a two-way street;
and so are peace and respect.
What you hate in your neighbor
you oughta hate in yourself;
what you want from another
you gotta give someone else.
Well, you may want division,
and you're bristling for a fight---
but we can't have the USA
without both left and right.
Gotta hate somebody?
We best decide what to do;
'cause whether this nation stands or falls
is up to me and you.
Somebody
I don’t know why I’m writing this poem to you,
When you’re not even the one I’m drawn to.
But why, when I think of him
You’re the one who comes to mind.
Now, I doubt myself
For liking someone,
But thinking about somebody.
I often ponder if I cross your mind,
If my presence lingers, even in kind.
Please, don't look at me like Romeo to Juliet,
I don't want to fall for someone I'll regret.
Do I truly like him, or is it you?
As I write this poem, the answer comes into view.
I know deep down, you're not meant for me,
Just another passing soul, not meant to be.
So I'll cherish the moments we've shared,
But I won't let my heart be ensnared.
You're just one of the men who crossed my path,
But our destinies, they'll never align, alas.
"Inside a world that changes every day,
Inside a world that nobody remembers the day after,
Mr. "Somebody" tries to learn the values and principles of life
in reading mythologies and fairytales.
I am so sorry Mr. "Somebody"
You will find no happily ever after."

Who are you, I was asked today
I started to be smart and say only my name
Again they asked who are you
But this time with a little attitude
I am a black young lady
Soon to be graduating with my Paralegal degree
I may not be graduating to be a lawyer
But I am somebody
I may not be
The perfect liitle girl my dad wants me to be
But we both seem to agree
That I am somebody
Yes, I may not have your money
And I may not be wealthy
But my mom and dad taught me that I don't have to have big money
Just know that I am somebody
To you I may be ugly
To you I may be pretty
But watch what you call me
Because I am somebody
You may see things in my past that wasn't done perfectly
It may now even affect me
But don't be so quick to judge me
Because I am somebody
You may laugh at me
Because I don't see myself the way you see me
I may not be better than you
But I am somebody
I don't want to be the President of the United States
Or the Ambassador of an overseas country
I don't know what my future awaits
But there's one thing I do know, that I am somebody
There are days when people belittles me
Life with them must be going terribly cause they appear to have low self-esteem
And feel like a nobody
Don't try to get me on that same page 'cause I know that I am somebody
I AM SOMEBODY!!!!
A lush
A hot tomato
Full of bourbon
Holding up a bar stool
Cigarette between her fingers
Manicured nails meant to kill
And I’m on a bender
And hell bent
Smoky crushed velvet
James Bond would be so proud
A jazz quartet is swinging
To a heroin crowd
Sunglasses in the night
The brother is so cool
A nicotine queen
Is filing in between
Bartender named Lloyd
Says my money’s no good
Drinks are on the house
They know I’ll pay in cocaine
When we slide on out the back
“What was that?” she says
“A double Jack straight up?”
No mixers for me
I’m drinking for the buzz
It takes a lot of booze to kill
The memories of you
And pretend I’m someone else.
Everybody needs somebody
Some one to talk to
Some one to love
Some one to hold you
To share your dreams
And to make it come true
To say how awesome you are
Because you are just you
A shoulder to cry on
When you are have a bad day
To bring back your smile
And never let it go away
We all need some one
It’s just what humans do
So please forgive me
When I say I need you
Every body needs
Some one to miss
Needs some one
To hold, to hug, to kiss
Some one to hear our story
Some one to share a recipe
Some one to cling on to
When we see a scary movie
When the simple things we do
Means the world to them
Who will understand us?
And never quick to condemn
We don’t get to choose
Our looks or color of our skin
So to see the real person
We have to look deep with in
Because we all need some one
It’s just what humans do
So please forgive me
When I say I love you
Every body needs some one
No matter whom you are
Some needs some one near
And some true loves are very far
Even the unfortunate homeless
Or a famous movie star
Even an ER surgeon
Or a patron drinking in a bar
Yes we all need some one
It’s just our human nature
The only girl I need
Is near but still so very far
