Best Snapshot Poems
A sunset walk past a garden
midday frolic in the meadow
Early morning glide through a forest
sunrise snapshot of a glistening lake
How we take our eyes, our ears
our five senses for granted
With all of them implanted
this earth is enchanted
A badly framed picture
by someone
who didn't understand
just how important
this moment was.
A very young woman
standing in front of
the Eiffel Tower.
Framed by the half curve
of the base,
the line of her body,
a little self conscious,
extends to the line of the tower,
which leads up to
a wintry Parisian sky,
high clouds and cold blue,
that you sometimes see
in old French paintings.
I look at her familiar face,
with its sort of quizzical pride.
"Look, it's me!
I'm in Paris, can you believe
that I could ever do this?
"Yes", I think, "Yes!",
remembering all those sad, low,
and confused past times, when
I told you over and over,
that I knew you could.
Just a snapshot.
I wake up to clear blue skies
I stretch, I'm feeling fine
Got this carefree attitude
Nothin' on my mind
my friends are coming over
Everything is right
Its gonna be a perfect day
A piece of paradise
I don't know how, You talked me onto
A coaster, goin' upside-down
As I let the breeze blow across my face
It turns around my frown
The rhythm of a drummers beat
Makes me want to take a chance
Make me want to move my feet
Forget my cares and dance
As carnival lights flash into the sky
And the stars shine up above
I look into the glowing eyes
Of all the people I love
This is the moment of paradise
Cotton candy clouds
And perfect blue skies
I let myself float away
On the summer breeze
And catch a spun sugar second
Of pure happiness
As the world swirls around us
I let this moment freeze
Painting the perfect picture
Of paradise
She could not reach out to touch him
But they were as one, through space and time
United as one soul together, understanding all
She gazed down on him in sheer wonder
This Adonis this truly beautiful embodiment of man
She could hear his breathing, feel his breath
As she silently observed him in sheer wonder and awe
And praised the heavens for this, her one true love
She gently then, like a soft breeze, placed a kiss on his lips
Sleep well my darling, dream sweet dreams she whispered
And then with a flicker he was suddenly gone
The moment stayed in her memory, like a snapshot in time.
We've been entwined for hours,
Wrapped together in careless sheets..
You look deep into my eyes and smile
"What's your favourite colour?"
"Red" I answer your smile.
You kiss my nose..
And I feel so grateful.
After such confusion, loss, remorse and loneliness,
I think there's a chance
That I have possibly,
Maybe,
Fallen in happy with your.....
Everything.

Decoupage of Fate
Could not erase our love
Eternal oneness
inspired by: Carolyn Devonshire's picture
Like snapshots our memories are
Fleeting only in seconds passing
Rewind to double expose and overlap
Attempts to organize and remember
Flashes by at the end
I think my best years are clearly already behind me
That everyone persists in reminding me, it is glee.
I don’t think my traumatic childhood years were elective
That’s certainly true from my adulthood perspective.
I won't consider sharing those god-awful teenage years
They were replete with so much trauma, agony, and tears.
I remember best my first year in college, Berea
They, most of my buddies, went to Korea!
I loved being stationed in our newest state, Hawaii
The U.S.A.F. took me; I soon became a beach flea.
I returned to wild and wonderful West Virginia
The rest of my story there, some day, I shall continue.
I think life began when I met sweet Deborah, my wife,
That should suffice, I think, for a quickie look at my life!

A lake cradled in the Himalayan foothills’ verdant cleft
Its acclaimed beauty on the azure water sun did reflect.
Not for long though, a sprawling hamlet’s arms spread
Toxic pollutant stream in the lake it drained and shed.
Crystal clear water soon became algal and eutrophic
Decimated shortly all the thriving life forms aquatic.
The lake invaded by water hyacinth and wild weed
Turned over time to boggy waste landscape indeed.
The sparkling ripples were stilled at dark depth alone
The serene shadows of slope-lined pines were gone.
In unsightly wetland amidst the Himalayan splendor
Saw one dawn hyacinth clusters bloom purple flower.
Glossy jade leaves glistened under the golden sun
On wings of butterflies the dance of joy had begun.
So enthralling was the display of nature’s bounty
I still cherish the snapshot of overlooked beauty.

As I took a mental snapshot of the moon lit night
I thought of my father, as the stars shined bright
