HER

               the chains —
roses tied ‘round hands and feet,
apple-scented la forza del destino.

the buds claw down her back,
send shivers down her spine,
       her head climaxed —
delicate, her perfumed breath.

the thorns gently nibble at her neck,
   the wine it draws,
      the tongue collects.

HIM

         his waist, she grips
      with everlasting rose-hips,
   the crystal chalice overflows
with deliciousness.

full blossoms, of golden pressed
like a prisoner’s garb unto his chest.

      he heaves so hard, suffocating
beneath this veneer of tremulous beauty.

Together

   they beg to be released,
their vines intertwined
     and fate interjects
  with wounds of perspiring lips
       solicited to one another
in a kiss of bon chance.

liberated to master their winded flutes
      of cherry parfait served with
whipped cream.

Created to belong to the one soul
For whom my heart would beat
Rhythmic beats of thirsting desires
I have,
Since times immemorial
Enjoyed this state of being
A slave to Love!

Why, loving requires patience,
Submission, abandoning my throne
And even accepting to disrobe my soul
Among gaping crowds,
Made of souls who understand not
That I am the whirlpool, raging forth
And Love, remains
The river bed, calm and soothing
To allow me to simply keep on being!

Why, being the slave of love
Allows me to imbibe in gloomy souls
The musical tunes of love, tuned correctly
Of course, meaning solely
To give their hearts wings
As to wish to experience its magic too!

Pray, being the slave of love
Requires of me to be virtuous
Made of morals, of principles, of tears,
Of blood, of forgiveness, of acceptance,
Of blinded will, why, of passion,
So deep and so fragile, that it can be
Mistaken to be a natural calamity at times
And a fragranced flower at others!

Of love have I made my master,
As such was willed to me by the skies
I have accepted it and am ready to die for it
If need be,
Though the lover in me yearns to be held in
Between warm palms and to be asked
Of why is it that I still hold on
Even if doing so implies swimming against the current!

A slave of love am I
Enjoying it as long as I have enough strength to
Dancing on its tunes
Meditating on its peace
Writing of its hidden meanings
Waiting for it, waiting
As the drowning do,
For a hand to pull them up!

What Am I If Not a Slave

What am I if not a slave?
I cook, clean and mourn;
I wash, sweep and weep
from dawn to fall of night.

I do nothing but cooking;
I cook all day,
three times a day,
from dawn to fall of night.

What are you if not a master?
You eat, teach and cheat;
you write, drink and sleep
from dawn to fall of night.

For three long decades,
I’ve cleaned your dishes:
empty, dirty dishes
from dawn to fall of night.

What’s marriage if not serfdom?
You are my master;
I am merely a slave.
You do your part; I mine.

From dawn to fall of night
and back to break of day.

She wrapped herself in a beautiful lie
Bound so tight she was unable to fly
Slave to some pictues in a magazine
The essence of her could barely be seen

Bound so tight she was unable to fly
Choices she had made but didn't know why
The essence of her could barely be seen
The face of a woman who's only a teen

Choices she had made but didn't know why
Taking her love from a much older guy
The face of a woman who's only a teen
Absorbing sad from the places she's been

Taking her love from a much older guy
Minutes became years as her youth went by
Absorbing sad from the places she's been
Wanted happy but became sad and mean

Minutes became years as her youth went by
Life of desperation and getting high
Wanted happy but became sad and mean
Pain began early when she was fourteen

Life of desperation and getting high
She wrapped herself in a beautiful lie
Pain began early when she was fourteen
Slave to some pictures in a magazine

Work Slave

Driving home in the dark
telegraph poles like a thousand crucifix's line my road.
Winding lanes leading home, but my life going nowhere.
Just a number on a plc payroll.
I'm just waiting to find out what will kill me.
There's no escape victim or violator we all die
slave to commerce. Can you live without it !.
My two up two down world
My body clock ticking down
Was I born or manufactured for some company's gain
A florescent light replaces my sun
and I talk, at the sound of call centre bleep
I'm no free man, a paid slave
not even human to the management crew
just another victim of corporate greed
to be tossed aside as my child takes my seat
on this cruel roller coaster ride

Stunning turquoise eyes
     Clear, bright and captivating
          Couldn’t look away

A slave to your gaze
I needed to see your soul
          Peered through the windows

Deep warmth camouflaged
Eyes locked as two became one
          Our joyful hearts soared

As I work hard in the hot cotton fields all day
I dreadfully think about the long night to come
Since you lost your wife you tell me you're lonely
and sneak me out from my shack to your huge mansion
Into your bed, where you use me and pretend to love me
I must pretend to like being with you, to stay safe and alive
My family has no idea I am with you almost every night
The lottery day is coming soon and I am fearful of being sold
My babies are here at this plantation, alive and thriving
I hope to be able escape soon before they are put to work
Their Father was recently beaten to death for misbehaving
He was fighting for us to try to escape to the north to be freed
Lincoln is doing what he can to make changes, I have hope
In the meantime, I continue to plan ways to escape or kill you
I continue to endure the long work days and poor living conditions
And at night I will continue to be with you as your slave to love
As I will continue to fight for my family and for our freedom

A Slave

Slowly, one's self control ebbs,
as appetites begin to take hold.
The body's defenses crumble,
while temptation grows more bold.
The mind tastes the sweetness
of pleasure's tightening noose.
A chain of craving is formed
to set the drug of addiction loose.
The body becomes the eager slave
to an appetite's endless desire.
Self control dies within the light
of the soul's own forest fire.
As the mind surrenders to want,
the addict's life spins faster.
A slave is born into this world
when the appetite becomes the master.

Slave To Love

I never thought I’d keep a record of my pain
or happiness
like candles lighting the entire soft lace
of the air
around the full length of your hair/a shower
organized by God
in brown and auburn
undulations luminous like particles
of flame

But now I do
retrieve an afternoon of apricots
and water interspersed with cigarettes
and sand and rocks
we walked across:
                        How easily you held
my hand
beside the low tide
of the world

Now I do
relive an evening of retreat
a bridge I left behind
where all the solid heat
of lust and tender trembling
lay as cruel and as kind
as passion spins its infinite
tergiversations in between the bitter
and the sweet

Alone and longing for you
now I do

Slave and Can'T Help It

Hidden for so long,
Because of Society.
Someone, no one knows!

Love Slave

Love slave

Vs 1
I know now I'm her prisoner...
Don't want- or need- a deliverer...
I don't care people say- that I should make my escape
There's a strange allure- being shackled.... to the pain

Bridge 1
She's the only love-only love-only love...I've known
She's held me bound-held me bound-held me bound... til now

Chorus
Every move of mine- depends on gravity,
her moon controls my tides...
I rave like a lunatic when she's gone,
I break all the hands of time
As night slays the day....
I'M HER....LOVE SLAVE....
YEAH YEAH, I'M HER... LOVE SLAVE

Bridge 2
It may be cold and dank in this prison...
When she comes 'round light breaks in her prism

Bridge 1
She's the only love-only love-only love...I've known
She's held me bound-held me bound-held me bound... til now

Bridge 3
Ooh, Ooh, she makes me come...alive
Ooh, Ooh, she gives hope...that we'll survive

Bridge 1
She's the only love-only love-only love...I've known
She's held me bound-held me bound-held me bound... til now

Chorus
Every move of mine- depends on gravity,
her moon controls my tides
I rave like a lunatic when she's gone,
I break all the hands of time...

As night slays the day....
I'M HER....LOVE SLAVE....
YEAH YEAH, I'M HER... LOVE SLAVE

As night slays the day....
I'M HER....LOVE SLAVE....
YEAH - YEAH, I'M HER... LOVE SLAVE

Who did you leave under the sea?
Was it a black engineer building dreams?
And a brown baby with shackled hands little feet
An angel in disguise floating in the deep

Who did you throw in the ocean that day?
Was it a famed priest known to pray
To African ancestors whose hearts await
Arrival of those you stole away

Who did you drown in the big blue water?
Grandma grandpa son daughter
Artist singer soldier doctor lawyer
Because your soul is rotten out of order

Who was the wicked one that day?
Who inherited the curse of the slave?
You threw them away in the blue green sea
They were not stowaways they were holy seeds.

Lost Identity: View Point of a Slave

Why is my skin color different?
Did God make me this way?
When he made me, did he have
intentions on me being a slave?

And I thought we were all brothers,
including all the ones of different colors.

But why are they beating and hurting the others.
Someone save me, I didn't choose this life.
These scars, they've carved me with the sharpest
knives.

All I have is my faith.
Because if I'd held on to anything else
it'd be theres to take.

What is it that I ask for?
Equality, I preach.
Something small to you,
but makes a difference
for me.

Whipping, spitting, hitting on me.
Raping our women in your wife's sheets.
Taking our children and turning them into workers.
No sense of empathy, grief or composer.

For the brotha' on my left and my sista' on the right,
with the courage that I hold I will continue to fight.
You have taken away my freedom, and most of my life.
But what you have failed to obtain is my state of mind.

Go ahead work my body, and do all that you please.
This is just a shell anyway, it's not coming with me.
You spit, you laugh, thinking you gained the world.
You think you have power because you've raped a young girl.

Stand tall sir with all of that pride.
And go ahead and hold it until the day that you die.
But your day will come when you'll fall to your knees.
Feeling the burn on your body from the whips you've given me.

"The LORD is my sheppard,"
I continue to say.
While my soul goes up as God takes me away.
I wish you peace with smile on my face,
knowing that God teaches the fullness of grace.

I Am a Slave

My message lies not in the sentence
If you learn to read between the lines
You will hear stories in my silence
My life is not about roses and wines

I look strong on the exterior
But I am weak on the interior
I may be smiling on the outside
But I am hurting on the inside

A Slave

Please sir don’t sell me to that man
I beg you sir, I’ll behave as I can
I heard that he whips his slaves with lashes
And burn them with cigarettes and…..
Make them eat their ashes

Please sir please I beg your kind heart
Please sir, please let us leave this mart
I beseech you sir not to sell me to that ogre
My dear lord! He’s starting to look at me and ogle!

Please sir don’t be deceived by his money and pomp
Because he keeps girls whether in his bed or tomb!
Please sir, keep me and I’ll be your obedient slave
Please sir don’t send straight to hell and grave

I heard that he makes his slaves work till they fall
And when one does, he tortures him till goes out his soul
But if some of them survived on and got old
He shoots them! Indeed sir! That’s what I’ve been told

(After yoking them and exploiting their toil and plod
He drinks sweet wine, and they taste their own blood)
Then he throws their bodies into the river
He’s the devil himself, I heard like such doings never

Please sir, keep me as your possession
And save me from his cruelty and aggression
Please sir don’t be affected by his amount of gold
And whatever happens please don’t say to him: Sold!
