I Am But a Grain of Sand

"Happiness and sorrow ebb and flow like waves upon a beach,
and I am but a grain of sand."
                                        by poet

I think of myself as nothing more than a sunflower
who, at the hint of first light, turns to face due East
Respectful of dawn, through God's glorious power,
morning stirs my spiritual need, and upon it I feast.

It's not a shortcoming to be generous and humble,
nor a weakness in my character, a burden to bear.
I'm never too proud to ask for help when I stumble
for if I humbly ask for His hand, it will be there.

Defiantly, pride seems to take control before a fall
Arrogance is a foolish trait that becomes a liability
ending in dishonor when the foolhardy hit a wall.
Humility can be a saving grace; but not a disability.

I am just a tiny grain of sand, washed upon a beach,
a speck of dust on Earth, the size of a mustard seed.
I believe by being modest, happiness is in my reach
Content with what little I have, not tempted by greed.

Integrity is an admirable quality in an altruistic mind
Benevolence and compassion are gifts to be lauded
By living an unassuming life, my worth will be defined
without need to be rewarded, praised, or applauded.

The Great Teacher

He was a man whose tongue held no lies,
For he was the direct descendant of our father in the heavenly skies.
Born to a body of fleshy sin,
Though what laid beneath was unlike the rest of his kin.

Jesus had the utmost grace,
Never being wavered by evils face.
He was wise beyond any years,
Performing miracles that would bring crowds to tears.

A beacon of light on top of a starless mountain,
Where words of wisdom poured out of him as if there ran a cosmic fountain.
His eyes pierced through you with a single glance,
Leaving even the most hardened individuals in quite the trance.

The holy spirit so ever majestically flowed inside this man,
Naturally people caught notice and became a fan.
Students began showing up from every mold,
When they heard his words their hearts were sold.

Wicked men put a price on Jesus's head,
He was wanted alive or dead.
Despite this he and his disciples continued their teachings,
Where on occasion they endured terrible beatings.

One of the twelve apostles turned to black,
No longer having Jesus's back.
Judas Iscariot had done Satan's bidding,
And it is in hell where he now is sitting.

Jesus died on the cross to pay for our shortcoming,
However don't be saddened for if you believe in him you will see him at your homecoming.
There he sits at the right hand of God's throne,
Being the voice of truth and love that we all have known.

I Am a Whisper

I am a whisper
I am a warning
I am the Man in the Moon

I am a secret
I am a sinner
I am an ominous tune

I am a flicker
I am a failure
I am an unrealized dream

I am a poet
I am a patient
I am a suppressed scream

I am a burden
I am a bystander
I am a felonious battle

I am quiver
I am quandary
I am a curt death rattle

I am a mirage
I am a mantis
I am a silent imposition

I am a shadow
I am a shortcoming
I am a glaring omission

Know Him

look at a person
know his sobriety or aggression
look into his eyes
know of what deep down lies

you can know his passion
you can know if there's disdain or compassion
know if with you he wants to maintain a relation
or if there's rejection or hesitation

you can know his personality traits
whether loves something or someone or hates
lets think of those who are blind
in relations they may not be able to bind

They can't fully emote
if you donate yours on you they will dote
they have a big shortcoming
for them time is stable although its running

they cant enjoy or see blessings of nature
none bothers about their stature
they are always dependent
lets make them independent

lets pledge our eyes for them
let them see through this gem
lets make them see the world with our eye
think you can put to use eyes even after you die

some part of us will live
to the unprivileged a life we will give.

The Committee To Re-Elect the President

The Committee To Re-Elect the President

By Elton Camp

On political matters I take no position
But it’s fun to watch those with ambition

This Committee is now composed of two
And they seem to know just what to do

To ensure the president’s election again,
They expose his opponents’ list of sin

A battle between adulterer and millionaire
All their dirty linen in public they do air

And available resources they expend
In a primary it seems will never end

But when a candidate is finally selected
His shortcoming will have been detected

Imagine the clips that will appear on TV
That the entire country will then get to see

To them, the president, his hat must doff
All while he merrily “laughs his ass off”

2 Terms of Political Office

2 Terms Of Political Office

A political leader of a country successfully managed to extend his term of office...
Brings up the question of the wisdom of the previous curb imposed to 2 terms in office....
Bolehland has on record the incredible long tenure of 22 years by Premier Dr Mahathir...
And plans are afoot to restrict succeeding premiers to only 2 terms is service....

2 term may be too short for long term overall development.....
Besides the problem from the surplus of such pensioners ...
And atypical of Bolehland mentality, ad hoc programs will proliferate...
A merry go round of contractors, hangers on for part of the economic pie....
Hohoho...
Too frequent a changing of the guard....
Brings on too many a zealous new broom to sweep the room clean....
Hohoho....

On the other hand, a misguided head at the top....
Even a single term can have dire consequences....
Democratically there should be preventive measures...
To checkmate the slide into mediocrity...

Dr M helmed Bolehland for 22years....
Despite the many shortcomings, those were exemplary years....
Of prosperity, stability and high paced development....
Though with the benefit of hindsight...
Bolehland was tethering towards a gaping abyss...
Created by many policies and practices that have outgrown their noble objectives..
What was once a visionary and innovative initiative to correct a shortcoming....
Becomes a yoke of suffering and abuse once it's objectives are achieved....
Question of the day is when to review and to improve an initiative....
Before misrepresentations and abuses set in to abuse the system....
Then the need for change has to happen, a step back in order to move forwards 2 steps...

The Europeans were pioneers in coming up with parliamentary checks and balances...
But history too bears witness to the many atrocities and disasters they created...
The world wars, the religious crusades, the bullying politics of apartheid and slavery...
All faulted and wreaked by the overwhelming influence of supremacy of race and religion ...
What Bolehland is undergoing, it is nothing new nor revolutionary...
The only positive, we could be on the path to maturity...
All the existing abuses and clamour for better governance....
Could just be manifestations of growing pains of a young democracy...

The Roadside Eatery

It was a pretty long drive but not tedious
Thanks to smooth arterial roads; well laid
The shortcoming was absence of eateries
And we were looking for a decent eatery.

All efforts to find out one came to naught
That forced us to settle with a roadside inn
The place not clean; which was predictable
But the tummies refused any extra journey.

Once seated, the waiter appeared smilingly
A smile at once genuine and pleasing one
That was totally devoid of any artificiality
That helped us relax despite the location.

He brought trays and glasses but not water
Instead of tissue paper he offered his scarf
And tore a newspaper to wipe them clean
All the time offered help with a big smile.

He brought water bottle moderately chilled
And then oven fresh rotis with vegetables
After some pause, gave butter and sweet
With feeling, that we should eat a bit more.

As we ate he offered his services to others
His actions fast, served the customers alone
Humming a tune with that radiant smile and
We left the place with a heavy heart n tummy.

Love Is Not Perfect

LOVE IS NOT PERFECT
Love your heart and your soul would be at rest
Do you preach love when love doesn't exist in their eyes?
Get the foul words out from your mouth
For in us lies the christmas joy that preaches
My mother was born on christmas and
My father was also born on christmas day
That does not make them the perfect couple
They also have their shortcomings in their union

You know what I will do right here
I will hold a newspaper in on hand
To search for the problems of love
And then on the other hand I will hold
The Bible to search for the solution there off
Love has its own problem and pains too
She is not better neither is she perfect
Love sin, love lie, love cheat also
Love has its own shortcoming and flaws

Can you search your heart and tell me
If love has not offended you on the long run?
Love is not perfect, she is the mother of all evil
Just like money is the father of all evil
Though she makes the heart joyful,
She is two side of a coin, black or white
But you choose where your belong to

The Leavening of the Soul

Character, as then a word
gathers or depletes ~ what is heard
times nuance, profiting as heard
the truth ~ or consequence' does readily invert!

Character ~ becoming known
the self to God, by His alone
no shortcoming, can meter less
the trial, becoming moment's press!

Character ~ for and against
a daily diary, no nonsense
as good and bad, the real invest
is in our spiritual hope's oneness!

Character ~ my mind's duress
does write it out, column's address
to keep the Faith, I must confess
my weakness, in this bonding's bless!

Character ~ the dough of time's redress
The Spirit of God . . . and Mans' mind's sense!

Shadow

Hugs from the old oak tree so big
Caressing my shortcoming
Letting me understand the beauty of it bring
So close to mine is now to part.

Shadows buried so deep
Is now on top of everything
Embracing every light of your presence
To where I can’t do anything in return.

Tears touched the ground
Melancholic atmosphere embraced everyone
As they saw the shadow take hold of your last breathe in time.

With my two eyes I saw
The time you exhale your last air
I want to give you more
But the shadows hold me from behind

I cant do anything but to see you stretched yourself
Under the light of the shadow embracing you wide
Caressing your body until your last air pop in the air.

Will never be the same
The morning without you dear
Not even coffee and breaking dawn could wake you up
Or even mine.

Tell me how to
Coz really I cant do
Teach me how to accept it
Rather than showing pain under my sight.

Oh old oak tree
You let me see
The beauty of thee
Can you also let me know
The true identity of this melancholic shadow you bring.

Metamorphosis

Mared and stigmatised
even rejected and cast away
though for some reasons
all now past-see a new being
memories of the past now a scar
on her path ne'er to be forgotten
resulting into blatant discrimination
paradoxical to this view,she's an
haven,a paradise with beauties of nature
oil,wildlives and mineral resources
sought for all over the world even by critics
inspite trheir shortcoming,she still cares
she is a mother indeed,mother of all-Nigeria

Premium Member America's God

It must be clear that God's involvement with a nation or people does not exempt them from their insistent practice of human frailties and evil deeds. Moreover, as one of his many mortal creatures, you and I would agree that we fall so short of His Divine Standard for our lives. In spite of my shortcoming and occasional misdeeds, God is not 'finished' with me yet. It must be equally clear that God is a most loving and patient God, but there is a point of final judgment for individuals as well as nations. At this writing, it does not appear that we have reached that point.

There is no denying that historically, America as a nation has indeed done some atrocious things of which I am ashamed. I will not address those matters here. My point here is limited to the fact that historically, America has always acknowledged the Judeo-Christian God in its major documents.
Also, this nation and the Christian church has held a Biblical worldview for centuries.

God our Maker has always invited us to call His attention to the words He has spoken and written. May we do no less in calling upon our nation to be accountable to the words it has written. In reality, my faith in America is Faith in America's God.

And I say in closing, if for any reason there is a notion that God is finished with America, think again. Indeed, both our nation and the church in America have much to be desired. But no! I do not believe that God has allowed us to lose our 'God Positioning System'. Oh, yes indeed; there is great cause for concern. But make no mistake my friend; God is alive and well in the church and in America as a nation. Again, God is not finished with us yet. God does indeed bless the nation whose God is the Lord. May The Lord ever be our God, and may He continue to bless our nation.

Vulnerable

For the first time
I need help
for the first time
my pride took a hike

always rose to top
now I’m not fresh anymore
I seem to flop

my vulnerability
is exposing my inability
to cope with my shortcoming
the truth is
I am going through a power dip

it seems I was brought
down from my high hoarse
in every game
there was a dip
in my scores

there is a loud back fire
in my exhaust
the impact knocked me off coarse
I cannot believe
how many times for help
I have to ask
even the verses
that I write seems lacking…
