[Verse 1]

I grew my farm roots beneath your starry-eyed loam
In soils of silence where dreams slip by, lost and unknown
But you were the willowing wind pulling you far away
Took to the stars as if you never meant to stay.

[Pre-Chorus]

I’m buried deep in the earth’s embrace
But you’ve spread your wings into the endless space
We were worlds apart from the very first start
One foot in the soil, one foot breaking my heart.

[Verse 2]

I watched you chase the meteor storm in your eyes
Like a red comet lost in the blackened velvet skies
I was the snow-capped mountain forever standing still
And you were the restless west wind chasing every thrill.

[Pre-Chorus]

I’m stone and soil, you’re wind and air
I reach for your touch but you’re never there
I’m anchored to the earth where the wild things doth roam
But you’re out there flying, with no place to call your home.

[Chorus]

You were my earth, I was your sky
I held you close, but you wanted to fly
I buried my soul, you touched the light
We danced in the dusk, but never in the dark of night.

(Repeat Chorus)

(2nd ending)

We’re just earth and sky

Two separate worlds that’ll never collide

Live or die.

[Bridge]

I let go of the stones beneath my hands
Tried to rise like you to understand
But the stars you sought burned much too bright
Leaving me cold and shivering, in shadows of the night.

Maybe I’ll grow or maybe I’ll fall
But we’re two halves of a broken call
Earth and sky, never quite whole
Two songs unsung, forever lost…

two restless souls.

[Chorus]

You were my earth, I was your sky
I held you close, but you wanted to fly
I buried my soul, you touched the light
We danced in the dusk but never in the dark of night.

(Repeat Chorus)

(2nd ending)

We’re just earth and sky

Two separate worlds that’ll never collide

Live or die.

[Outro]

You’ll be the stars, I’ll be the ground
We’ll spin through the night

(1st and 3rd Time)

going round and round

Earth and sky

Earth and sky

(Repeat)

(2nd and 4th Time)

but never be found

Earth and sky

Earth and sky

(Repeat)

“Together, ever and ever alone... in the cold dark of night.”

Premium Member 'separation' - the Art of Edvard Munch

When love is torn asunder and there is nothing left but dissent,
a lover's heart will be shattered, mortally wounded and rent.
In a relationship that was once held as sacred and eternal,
sorrow takes a heavy toll on the one left behind, and infernal
flames of grief scorch the lonely heart so that it must dwell,
suffering in what seems like the fiery abyss of emotional hell.

Forlorn the man when his once-upon-a-time love went astray,
and became a wraith without a face. She refused to stay.
Dressed in bridal gown, perhaps she seeks a new marriage mate,
a man who will please her instead of treating her like a roommate.
She looks forward to a brighter future than one she's left behind,
wondering why she married him. How could she have been so blind?

Could it be there's another side to the separation of two lovers?
In death she was buried in a white shroud. Sorrowfully, he hovers.
A bouquet of crimson flowers he's brought to leave at her grave
but he cannot bear to look at the tomb. Today, he's not that brave.
Ghostlike she appears to him, a wispy figure, floating in the mist.
He's haunted by memories of the lips he'd passionately kissed.

It is important we know this eternal truth,
that our earthly lives may be linked but not our deaths!
you may have special memories from early youth,
but one has to watch the other take the last breath!

you will for sure shed tears of separation, grief,
fear future prospect of life without the other,
but thank God for the lovely life however brief!
pray after life you still wish to be together!

we do not choose to be born nor do we choose death,
in the garden of creation we bloom and rest,
relish every moment of fortune and good health,
but when the end comes, please trust him for He knows best!!

let not this despondency rob your faith in Him,
as you are precious to others as was to you,
life must still be lived and cherished however grim,
destiny has plans for you till you bid adieu!

Premium Member Lines of Separation

During the Civil War, the Mason Dixon Line
Divided North from South, separating families
In 1961 guard towers were erected
On the Berlin Wall, separation strategies

Although the Berlin Wall was finally torn down
The Great Wall of China remains a monument
Created to protect the Chinese Empire
Keep out nomad invaders with a firm armament

Now a line spans the aisle of the US Congress
They’re seated to the right or left, never centered
And if a brave independent tries to speak out
Be assured this courageous soul will be censored

Lines are used to separate wholes into sections
What mankind needs is more unification now
Segregation is wrong, regardless of intent
To those who seek to eradicate “lines,” I bow

Premium Member Bird of Paradise

The day you brought me a Bird of Paradise,
a rare flower which imbibed sun’s blushing orange glow,
and aquamarine blue from ocean’s bosom,
erased the excruciating pains of our separation
                    unfolding a symphony of colours,
stayed and comforted me since then
                                   with satiny softness.

The ebullient orange and blue petals
with a tint of olive-green from the depth of the sea,
where a dreamy mermaid weaves her crimson love...
remind me of our tender days together
with unrestrained laughter and pure joy.
the blue elegant boat-like bract brings
the memory of our doting parrot -
                         lingering lilac memory she left...

As if she left the glistening colours of her wings
                                on the slender petals....
for me to gaze at the graceful beauty,
so all the sorrows, all the sadnesses
                           magically heal and evaporate.

Premium Member Separation of a Seasoned Love

What, if any, shall my love be; if tho is not there in the meadow of our season? Will our love wilt as flowers do in the burning sun without thy water to sip into its roots? Shall we not meet by the tree in the meadow of our love? But, if it is not ordained, how so may it go forth, in the bloom of the day of our meadowed love seasoned? I do miss thee, when we are parted from us, in our meadows; seasoned love.

Separation of a Seasoned Love

Our love is, but, just a separation,
For just a bit longer from one another.
For our souls still,
Danced in the moonlight of our season of love.

Oh, how I've missed our time
Spent physically with one another.
The anticipation of us again in the heavens,
Exciting the taste of our beauty we had the chance to live.

My love, until we are reunited;
I shall count the seconds till our harmony;
And, is together, and once again regained.
My love for Him is forever eternal,
Faithful, as the love that once lived here.

Rest my love,
May our Lord shine on our beauty,
And again, by mornings dew;
Shall we be together again?

Separation

I stare through the rear window as
the car begins to move away
With tears running the gamut of my
Face my body trembling and wet with
Sweat
I choke with anger as the contempt
For this separation grows deep
I wail and I wail
It is then that the memory of her tear
Filled puffy red eyes as she is cloaked
In a moment of sadness
Is imprinted on me
And I became a broken child
On a journey to a world that seemed
To be without conscience
For no longer could I be her
Protector and me the center of her
Attention
As the weeks turn to years the years
To decades
A bitter emptiness haunts me
For when I search my memory
Nowhere do I find ever saying
The goodbye word
To my little sister
And I cry

Tyke Voices

She grabbed at the quarter full pop bottle neck,
cream soda from Marsh’s,
and held like a truncheon, in the harshest
of voices
produced an otherworldly sound, GETOUT!!
“Give me a chance” and he stepped forward.
Stood aside her I moved towards
“****ing try it”
I’d never seen those eyes.
GETOUT!!
He turned and left.
He never normally got angry,
or swore.
I’d only heard him twice before.
Once as a just unwrapped Dunlop 65, badly hooked, hit the Irish Sea and brought blasphemy and profanity,
“Jesus ****ing Christ”
and as he handed me his driver an inappropriate hidden smirk from me,
his Sunday morning caddy,
for a couple of shots and 20p

The second at Elland road,
stood on the Gelderd End Kop,
Clarke swivelling before side footing in from twelve yards with me sat atop
a stanchion,
him stood behind,
“Get the f*** in” and he shook me as I cheered,
right arm aloft,
scarf tied on the wrist,
mimicking Sniffers celebration.
Sharing in the mass elation.
The best birthday treat.

It wasn’t our fight.
The adults crumbled.
We were let down on all sides.
Pre safeguarding times.
No support, no care.
Only the adults got choices,
not the era to listen
to five scared tyke voices.

We played
Scrabble until the word Bali came up-
and you were gone.

That night
your pillow
smelled of ocean breezes, coconut and
heliconia.
When you came back-
I want to be free.

I built a body balloon
around you
and filled it with helium.
I let out the tether
and you went up and up
and up
to the jet stream.
I released the tether.

A man in a 747,
business class,
saw you float by.
I want her-
he wrote in his day planner.

Soon, you fell and fell
towards the African forest
and into a tree.
A leopard started to climb
up to you
but you dropped onto the back
of an elephant
who carried you
into a brightly lit
camp
with a table, tablecloth, candles, wine
and gold silverware-
Ah, there you are, my dear.

You ate and drank
and awoke
covered with golden shackles.
The leopard slept beneath you
snuffing as though in a dream.

Above you
a taunting helicline made of gold keys
lead back
to
our little room
under the eaves,
and the rain
and days filled
with nothing.

Premium Member Separation

to be so far apart
in so many different ways
brings a hunger to my heart
a sorrow to my soul.
'twas fate dictated our destinies
that we were to be starcrossed
in love.

bittersweet is our portion,
though we did fleetingly taste
of intimacy's pleasures.
that is the one memory we can cling to
like the shipwrecked Odysseus
clutching at a spar.

you have lived locked
in a loveless union too long.
we were drawn together too late
by a force momentarily
too strong to resist.
thus did nature play
its cruel,insensitive trick.

Separation Ends

Family gathers
                               Apart too long, Covid struck
                               Praise! Alleluia

                                 03/29/2021

The last time our full family gathered was Christmas 2019. Covid struck before our traditional Mother's Day gathering. We are finally able to gather on Easter. What joy to celebrate the Resurrection together! In a sense we are also celebrating the resurrection of our family. Alleluia

Peter Perkins loved tasty pumpkin, in pies, in puddings and etcetera;
Which filled their house with tempting smells, so said his wife, Elena.

Beloved Elena was a splendid cook, to which fond Peter could attest,
With hand over his crimson heart, like rouge sun dyeing in the west.

The Perkins had a bouncy pet rabbit; and they called him 'Scamper,'
Like pretty, fall leaves forever flying, in hues red, purple and amber.

Frigid days had turned fragrant, and the friendly friends came calling,
And flirtatious, warm breezes flitted, over emerald fields, sprawling.

Finite, foggy dawn had vanished, when flattering rays flooded noon;
And fave, forever family came for visits, at the onset of mellow June.

They lived in the house of sweetness, and of delicious desserts, daily,
In the times of sun glazed windows, looking out on pretty, pink daisy.

Twilight, sapphire skies glorified stars, on their scenic, sunset street;
And they took daily scent strolls, to smile at fine people they'd meet.

Nonnegligent nature was naturally beautiful, when neighbors visited,
In noiseless, green hours of dulcet notes, and pink robin, uninhibited.

'Slime' lily's long tresses were curling, awaiting silvery drops of rain;
As 'true blood' roses lay wounded, and 'spiral' aloe soothed their pain.

Peter and Elena were planning a trip abroad, their fare already paid;
When Peter suddenly reinjured his kinee, ruining the plans they made!

As the doctor advised only limited walking, a trip was unwise for him;
But, he couldn't keep Elena from her dream, based on a fateful whim!

Their tickets were nonrefundable, and he would miss his wife dearly;
But Elena would have a wonderful time, as pretty, fall leaves do, yearly.

Elena bought a curio pumpkin house. Its rosy panes seemed to smile;
And placed inside her small photo, to stay close, across distant miles.

Whenever Peter gazed at his gift, it brought smiles, rather than sighs;
Like the last gasp of vermilion sunset, afore the silver, moonlight prize!

'Peter, Peter pumpkin eater,
Had a wife but couldn't keep her;
He put her in a pumpkin shell
And there he kept her very well.'

Just a Moment of Your Time

I'll let you go,
In the morning daylight;
I do have pain
Yet I don't want to regret.

Time is too greedy
Minute passes as a flip,
You will depart
When I wish to hold you.

I don't want to be apart,
Yet I don't pester you;
I'll leave you alone
For a little while.

My heart is too frightened
To feel the pain of separation,
I'll not tell you to stay,
I respect your dreams.

Eyes stares at beautiful times
I controlled my rolling tears,
I wish to fill you in my eyes
Stay with me for just a moment.

Just a moment of your time
Can fill our days of separation,
I just need to fill you in my dreams,
Spare me Just a moment.

Person of my past
Has come back to me
But with a cost
Memories flooded
And dissolving me
I am in pain
But she still talks
Seemingly unnoticed
To my emotions
I stand in fear
Of her steady words
Where will they lead
To the reason
Of our eventual
Separation…
The pain still hurts
I must tell her
Goodbye

Resonance of Separation

Dying on the inside,
withered tears falling on fallow hope
Bittersweet memories
rooted in moist pain of barren joy

Too many loving words left unsaid,
drowning silence
suffocates every wet pillow thought
Echoes of emptiness
from a weak heartbeat half-dead

Lonely fetal prone vibration
is the womb resonance of separation
Premature parting
births an untimely mute scream
Not enough loving words heard,
forgiveness buried
under a flatline document signed

Waning pulse vibration
accompanies the sunset stroke
of stillborn liberation
Ill-fated past sorrow
is the weeping willow delivery repose
of a dead tomorrow

Bereaved eyes misty blind
search for the halo light of balm divination
Revived resonant prism of being,
trying to find a new life meaning,
now emerging from the womb of separation
