Lines of Separation

During the Civil War, the Mason Dixon Line Divided North from South, separating families In 1961 guard towers were erected On the Berlin Wall, separation strategies Although the Berlin Wall was finally torn down The Great Wall of China remains a monument Created to protect the Chinese Empire Keep out nomad invaders with a firm armament Now a line spans the aisle of the US Congress They’re seated to the right or left, never centered And if a brave independent tries to speak out Be assured this courageous soul will be censored Lines are used to separate wholes into sections What mankind needs is more unification now Segregation is wrong, regardless of intent To those who seek to eradicate “lines,” I bow

Great beauty lies in this thought provoking lines. I do agree with you to eradicate all such lines, which divide us from that dot which is the ultimate goal of every one. Congratulations on your well deserving win. Love and best wishes always....Ravindra...Carolyn Devonshire

Carolyn, This is excellent and I totally agree with your last stanza here. This is sure to do well in the contest. I wanted to let you know that I don't mess with Facebook after getting a virus from there on my desk top. I only keep it so I can see photos of friends. Aloha, Connie

Yes! Eradicate lines, but do something about the flow over our boarders. California is a mess. I dig your third stanza. Love, Dave

Hi Carolyn, love this you are so right, one point though, if we had unification, society would probably throw a line around it, and in doing so, create exactly what we have now. thank you for your comments on my work. Harry

Remember the Berlin WAll finally came down. It was unnatural. So is our current divided country. It will either be reconciled by public demand or by civil war. I ferar the former. I dread the latter, LOve, to Donna from Gerard.

Oh, my God! Carolyn, you are so right and this is so well written. I totally agree with this. We do need more unification. This world is still filled with walls, as we, humans, can find these also within ourselves. Thanks for sharing. soupmail! Caroline.
