Figs stuffed with proscuitto and mascarpone cheese,
a plate of bacon wrapped scallops and pineapple.
French onion soup is bound to please
or garlic steamed mussels with which to grapple.
Artichoke hearts smothered in sherried cream;
pears with sugar and cinnamon in butter sauteed;
pork tenderloin medallions make a demi-glaced dream
while crisped lyonnaised potatoes are made.
Now with a sip of Pouilly-Fuisse'
tastes flush the palate like a gourmet concert.
A toast to good friends on this wonderful day
as ice wine chills to serve with dessert.
A plate of old fashioned Bananas Foster-
perhaps in the morning, eggs benedict with lobster!

All About Cecilia

Middle child of seven siblings and has had a troubled childhood
It has made me a stronger person, just not easily understood
Had a baby at seventeen and had to grow up in a flash
Now tends to over think, tries not to do anything rash.

I have dark long blond hair, hazel eyes and an infectious smile
Patient, laid back, but still gets frustrated every once in a while
Likes long hot showers and is wise with money
Drinker of herbal teas and hot lemon with ginger and honey

Friendly, outgoing and loves to laugh
Driven, ambitious does nothing by half
Enjoys to read, dance and play scrabble
Inspired by poetry, in writing it I dabble.

Is a PSW in long term nursing care
Empathy for the elderly I can't but share
Loves truly and deeply, is a hopeless romantic
Directionally challenged without a GPS I become frantic.

Mother of three sons, who enriched by life with so much joy
Recently blessed with a grand daughter, who I cherish, love and enjoy
Kindhearted, non judgmental and a very loyal friend
I'm always there when needed, on me you can depend.

Never smoked, did drugs and rarely ever has an alcoholic drink
Likes crosswords and sudoku, games that make me think
Loves sea food, sauteed onions and homemade soup
Energized by biking, long hikes and is a leader in a scouting group.

Moved by Nickleback's song, 'If Today Was Your Last Day'
For we should live life to the fullest, let nothing stand in our way
My favorite movie is 'Ever After' starring my favorite actress Drew Barrymore
Hoping like the movie that my prince charming will soon walk through my door.

Premium Member Onion Love

Oh, pungent onion, large, sweet and fried

in golden rings, diced, sauteed for

casseroles or grilled with meats;

tossed raw into my greens!

I love you so, that

when I slice your

skin, I’m the

one that

weeps!

Premium Member Lovin From the Oven

Those kisses from behind
when I cooking supper
make me feel so wonderful

It is like being a newly wed
you taste wonderful
mixed with sauteed vegetables

Like you love a dab of onion behind my ear
those little bites you feed me
and then I share could make the blind see

And although I have kissed those lips a million times
it is not enough for me
I pray to be doing this with long white hair
on into our destiny

I just feel like being silly. I am going through the most wonderful
time with my husband of 26 years. He has become Romeo and
I have become putty in his hands. So be looking for cliched lovey dovey junk. hehehe

Turnip Pie

Turnip Pie, why did I purchase you and try to lie?
Never once have you said "Goodbye", now you sit here in this pan to cry.

I ate you once, but not again, now I sit here to scribe 'bout you with this pen,
Turnips I won't try to defend, I like you sauteed with meat at the end,

But baked in a pie I scream "Why even try?" this is something I would never ever again buy,
I've smothered in cream sprinkled with cinnamon, quite a dream, but turnips I say should not be anywhere near me!

Premium Member Eat, Drink, and Be Merry

Oreos with chocolate chips
  Potato sticks with onion dip

Drip the cheese all over those fries
  Three scoops of ice cream and apple pie

Frito-lay corn chips beside a guacamole-filled bowl
  Don't forget those Boston-creme doughnut...holes

And how about all the candies and the chocolate cake
  Something's got to give you a slight stomach ache

These are merely appetizers, of course
  Now it's time for the game, to eat like a horse

First comes the turkey, with stuffing and butttered yams
  Along with sides of potato fritters and honey-glazed ham

Throw in a few sirloin steaks with sauteed onions, hot off the grill
  A Reuben sandwich with sauerkraut'll give your taste buds a thrill

Now -- how foolish of me! -- I've forgotten the drinks
  Left them in a cooler under the kitchen sink ...
So let's down a few maragaritas and some imported red wine
  Y'all leave some room for beer chasers --- in a mug or a stein

Yes, fans, it's under two months till Super Bowl Sunday
  Better start dieting now, so you'll still fit in your undies!

Premium Member Stir-Fried Poetry Writing

I sit to write, but first I put some oil in the pot.
Ideas need to simmer and I have a lot.
Red peppers and some celery I add in for some crunch.
Into the pot they go sliced up; it’s quite a bunch.
Some lovely water chestnuts, oh I want those too.
Ideas I can munch on . . . a can of those will do.
Carrots also. Chop, chop, chop – then into the pot
I throw them in as well. Things are getting hot.

Yes, imagination’s heating up so fine.
I want a poem on which a reader wants to dine
Onions I must add as well – so savory and wry!.
Sauteed in oil, they’ll not make anybody cry.
All my thoughts I’m stirring up. Oh they’re smelling great!
To add in all the spices I can barely wait.
For substantial content, I stir in something nice:
my major theme, which would be a lot of cooked brown rice.

I stir and stir my cooking thoughts, veggie words so bright.
With the spices I like best, it’s sure to turn out right.
Metaphors to season all is the yummy soy sauce.
Turmeric and garlic salt will really get across
the flavor of my mixed ideas, Oh, and for the last,
I crack some eggs – the final touch for my grand repast.
My stir-fried rice with eggs cooked in will give it tasty fun.
And now I quickly serve it up. Voilà, and I am done.

Premium Member Braised Himalayan Rabbit

There's an eatery here in my hometown I'd heard about,
That features exotic wild animal fare so I thought I'd check it out!
I perused the menu and here are a few examples of its bizarre cuisine:
Slow-broiled and marinated Indian elephant spleen;
Delectable bar-be-qued Texas style rib of rattlesnake;
Tender sixteen-ounce portions of grilled hippopotamus steak;
Choice butterflied pork tender-loin from corn-fed por(k)cupine;
Wild Arkansas boars' feet boiled and pickled in spicy brine;
Fresh flown-in daily from Alaska, deep-fried buzzards' gizzards;
Finely sliced sauteed tongue of Komodo Dragon lizards!
I decided to order an enticing delicacy that really caught my eye;
'Twas a dish called Braised Himalayan Rabbit that I thought I'd try!
I asked the server about its origin and its preparation mode.
"First" said she, "we find him-a-layin' on the road!"

(At that I stifled a roiling barf and from there I quickly strode!)

Childhood Scents

In laundered lilac linen I lounged half awake
What would this sumptuous Saturday share
Would gregarious grandmother graciously bake
Although the wicked waft of her cakes was hard to compare
I was silently salivating for her chicken fricassee fare

The farm freshest fricassee demanded a certain hen
accompanied by green gardens greatest of variety vegetable
sauteed snips of mint, garlic, and onion, Amen
Wafted walnut savory sauce anticipating the set table
Secret sprinkle cayenne pepper activating heat is enabled

When plated these lusciously lubricated white slices
Of soft succulent hen atop fresh potato mash
Stunningly Swimming alongside fresh vegetable dices
When your tongue tip tastes there's an instant flash
Of cherished childhood flavored food, a true saliva splash
