The Thunder Rolls

the sultry June afternoon drips with sweat
as the impending tempest approaches
the sun struggles for its last breath of light
and an eerie stillness hangs in the air
the prairie denizens have all taken shelter
as ominous slate grey clouds rumble
across the plains from the southwest
like clouds from a stampeding herd

and in the distance thunder rolls

Thunder rolls on the rails of morning
frightening the cat, curdling the cow’s milk
sudden, sullen rip roaring.
Released from its governor, it rattles man,
shaking the frail panes of his existence.
Jagged skyward shards spark, as the storm
wheels over the harrowed rye field,
splitting the magnolia tree from crown to root.
Gutters flute, asphalt steams, and within
the tumult the lawn of morn is cleansed
to a silver sheen of green.

My Cheesy Pizza Rolls

My cheesy pizza rolls
Only you know
About my love
When i put on my glove
To take you out of
That oven's steel fortress
Because you are hot
I know i'm not
Going to burn my tongue
Because i am still young
And i like my taste buds
So i will wait
The ten minutes it takes
On top of my stool
For you to cool
Cause of your boiling sweetness
I am wanting more
Than the smell of your
Melting four cheeses
One bite and i'm falling into pieces
Because you are
My cheesy pizza rolls

When the Fog Rolls In Again

When the fog rolls in again
and the clock strikes three plus ten,
uniforms on medals pinned,
phantoms twisting in the wind.

Phantoms twisting in the wind,
those who let the demons in
see the truth with cold chagrin,
stand and face your mortal sin.

Stand and face your mortal sin,
thus the healing may begin,
shield your ears from Hade's din,
let not the devil's legions win.

Let not the devil's legions win,
behold the omen's earthly twin,
pounding hail on roofs of tin,
when the fog rolls in again.

Just wish in this lonely moment of time
I could hold and hug you right now dearest

Taking you love under my wings floating into another world
Where smiles they dance with joy inside such a blessing gift

Having you sweet for-get-me-not's draws happy visions
where the sunshine meets its brilliance at a rainbow's end

Dazzling starlight of dreams whispers within this ocean
in the moon candlelight silver shadows tango

Dancing flames together burning one fire in the light
that stands before me as the flames forever ignite loving you flies free

Hotly your the sunshine of life with eyes like stars
silver sparkling diamond jewels drifting into your soul

Sunbeams warmly touch gently held in a smile
that melts warmly into flutters of this heart

The Fog Rolls In

The fog rolls in surrounding me,
My hand before me, I barely see.
A heaviness as moisture clings to the air,
Ghost like shadows from trees that are bare.

I walk forward I don’t want to look back,
I grab a new card from off of the stack.
I think of it like turning over a new leaf,
I take a deep breath and hope for relief.

I turn the corner there are lights shining bright.
Blue lights resonate and glow in the night.
A Christmas tree lit, entirely in blue,
Like a beacon in the fog it shines right through.

The Christmas tree lights shine much like my hope,
I try to break free with some slack in the rope.
They bring a smile and fill me with content,
As the fog thickens the lights don’t relent.

They seem to glow within the fog,
I lose my bearing as I trip on a log.
I feel like a ghost upon a canvas of white,
It all disappears within the confines of night.

I hear a bell from a church on the hill,
Its haunting sound from what was still.
It seems to call to me to just forge on.
All of a sudden the ringing is gone.

I stand in darkness just me and the fog,
Something awakens, memories it jogs.
I think of my journey and all I’ve been through,
What has been done and what’s left to do.

It hasn’t been easy though it’s not bad.
I have fond memories of great times I’ve had.
Still something’s missing as I look for the door,
I know it can’t be like it was once before.

The winds picks up, adds a chill to the air.
It awakens my senses so I really don’t care.
I stand at the threshold to the future and past.
I will simply step outside, the shadows it casts.

Einstein Rolls the Dice

Einstein Rolls the Dice

the paparazzi were all over Einstein
after he said make sure where the rope leads
before you kick over the chair
he wrote his own scripts now
Further Adventures in Archaeo-astronomy
tonight the constellation Vertigo
a place of no equilibrium
a hell of uterine contractions
even though his head was elfin
a little bone crushing ceremony
and you are out on bail
in an adorable subjective objective ruse
the beginning of a tale of envy and betrayal
you think science is pretty don't you
I didn't mean to hurt anyone went the 911 call
they finally brought him down with magnets
the meters were going purple
only minutes away from a fatal lap dance
that could blacken the portals of infinity
wizard artists awakened from a long sleep
out of the closet for the thousandth time
an army of derelict stockbrokers tried to stop them
but the obsidian blade plunged like a fang
and 73 virgin inflatable sex dolls
made obnoxious leaking air sounds
until all that was left was a talking skull
divulging sacrilege and anathema
flip the law of averages
and you are in the citadel
paradise being a system of payoffs
if existence has a face we're it
on the other side of the lens
the light is tricky in there
images fall feebly on the screen
but you can't have art without surprise
Al's life was now a gravitational anomaly
no plot no narrative no story
he was ready to sack a city
his Igor hissed let's asteroid the planet
but the mouse pad Ouija opened a channel
to the vortex of utter charm
and he stamped and splashed singing
through the sewers of humiliation
wearing his going to hell pants
with only a mother's love for protection
and thanks to the exponential growth rate
of his informative deformities
managed to lose all his pencils
somewhere between hand and ledger
unleashing pandemonium in all its ardor
being that his hands were missing fingers
most of them actually
lost in a departmental budget cut
left him all thumbs
it was a close shave but Earth was saved

Chinese egg rolls are yummy yum yum
With heaps of that sweet sauce they call plum

But sure am caught
In their grasp, to their deliciousness I succumb

Finger Rolls

The Baker’s had plenty of lovin’
Months later there’s one in the oven
With more mouths to feed
It’s more than they need
To go with their Baker’s dozen

Thunder Rolls

Softly the gentle summer winds blow
across the wheat fields golden hues,
the tassels swaying rhythmically as if
dancing to an olden tune

the azure sky is beginning to fill
with marshmallow clouds puffy and white,
until the azure is no more
the gentle breeze, stronger now

those golden tassels are bending east
held in place as if motionless
as azure turned to white
white now gives way to gray

I can hear howling now in the distance
as if the mighty wolf is calling to mate
chilling is the sound that my ears behold
for now I know the wheat fields fate

as azure gave way to white
and white has given way to gray
gray now gives up her hold to black
then it comes the lightening bolt..crack

now fervent is the electricity in the air
as my hair stands on end,
I find I am standing wide open
as I hear the Thunder Roll

Rolls

Dusk finally breaks
so we assert ourselves with ecstasy
and weed.
We claim omnipotence in pills and
crystals, whose uneven facets
reflect our fractured souls
shone through the darks of our
eyes.
Whose catalyst propels our
transmission down highways of
perfect pavement and engraves
narcotic hieroglyphs,
gashing chasms eventually.
The bittersweet glitter in matrix
with potentiations of piperazine
and lactose.
We toast to the eve with ale
and liquor--
the sapor of chemical licorice before
an overdue nicotine stick.
It tapers from tongue and
touches stomach and makes
me feel pure again.
Whose rollercoaster ride excites lust
and leaves me caressing
myself hours long.
My innards are robotic and clang
with metallic echoes--
I am a machine of total creation
whose gears are greased and
grooved marvelously.
Driven by emphasis of metamorphic
eroticism transitioning between
infinite colors--
they drape above;
it is a nebula and brushes my
cheeks.
And smiled on endless lips
ear to ear
and didn't mind a retorted,
confused frown because she didn't
understand what I was on.
She should be on this, too.
She should smile with me.
She should hear this music that
is coming from nowhere--
the weightless melodies of jazz
and blues
and the screwdriver bits of
electro-pop and trance.
They kept me until morning,
just as the flooding turned to
drought--
the barren Mississippi,
the barren Mississippi!--
it won't rain for weeks
and my chasm is complete.

Spring, Winter Rolls By

A series of cheeping notes
followed by chatter calls
welcoming a sunny spring morning

In the afternoon, the sky turns black
twilight of sun orange shades
heavy hail falling from the heaven
winds screaming in its gale force

Quivering feathers, wet and drenched
blanketing a monotonous chirrup
finding shelter under leaves

Arising smell of the heavenly primrose
lavenders the air dewdrops upon rose gold
In a chain of daisies warmly circles
In the sunlight of spring births

An effervescent voice cuts through
the parting dark clouds joining in
the long bubbling churrs of a song

Flower of all flowers, my garden Queen
When I pick you as my rose
Every color in you beautiful
Blooming red blushes pink crowning petals

Scepter of stellar beauty
Newborn flowers dance to the rays
Carnations shade the color of your chalice
A glance that holds a thousand in a split of a second
