A Dedication To He That This Old Poet Truly Admires

Hardened was his sad heart when a mere lad-
Never a kind word, all seemed very bad-
Born a true and strong athlete to behold
Into slavery and dark he was sold,
Emerged an honest man of mighty girth
A living Samson, a man of true worth.
As gentle friend one could truly thank God
Woe to those that felt his wrath or his rod!

Such great prowess one should never deny.
Always willing to give others fair try.

Stone-hard product of American shores
With hand axe, a slayer of savage boars
A majestic hunter of no small fame
Savage man or beast he could and did tame,
A hero returning from the great War
Proof as was seen, his many battle scars.
Never had he ever failed to show might
victor in every hand to hand fight!

Such great prowess one should never deny.
Always willing to give others fair try.

Never one to fear world's darkest powers-
A hard worker, no lover of idle hours-
Racing to do that which others so fear
Holding mother and siblings very dear,
Lover of horses, cats and faithful dogs
A Paul Bunyan one stroke, splitting huge logs.
Rock steady and never once defeated
punishing those who had his friends cheated!

Such great prowess one should never deny.
Always willing to give others fair try.

Rewarded to live to a ripe old age-
Some called hero, others a wise old sage-
Myself, I just loved him as my best friend
True chap that is faithful until the end,
Bright red roses adorn his earthen bed
none daring to walk paths he had once tread.
His life and memory are treasured gold
kind of brave man, I long to be when old!

Such great prowess one should never deny.
Always willing to give others fair try.

Rhyme, (Dedication poem)

Note- Presented as was originally composed, no edits to the verses(body of the work).
I was tempted but then I thought may be best to leave as was felt
and written the first go....
Added the word - "Old" - , to the Title, as seemed fitting since that describes the current state of the author

Salt Lake Expression

I wrote this on the Salt Lake Express, enjoy.

Salt Lake Expression

I just got my phone and im travelling home
I havent been rappin since the age of de la soul
But i happen to imagine the things i dont know
Its all about where you are, however you go

My jedi mind is tricked out,
opposite of KISS- i lick it down,
i am about to be around,
instantly syncing experience into the sound, so listen now...

Whatever I sample,
its all too hot to handle,
i dissipate stress within damsels,
what's jack and a candlestick without a candle?
I describe inside my mind simply when i ramble

The rise and fall is epic like that of the Berlin wall,
hungry cows just in for the green, im herding you all,
transmitting transitions went from winter to fall,
this tale you're listening to is legitimate, it isn't tall.

Im like Rafiki just seeking to speak with the king,
i ford rivers to Mordor to find the Lord of the Ring,
this isn't a hobbit talking but when i walk i sing,
playing the harp with heart strings,
hark the lion king
versus shot in the dark, bark, then endangering,
i dine with fine eats at a Chinese restaurant called Ming's,
before the crack im born to rap, let the liberty bell ring.

Crazier than Nicolas cage,
i face the machine with rage,
i speak on street corners, concrete is my stage,
I'm going to flee to Indonesia seeking to speak with a sage

Gourmet food for thought is about to blast off,
get on this hip hop or listen to Slim and kick rocks in flip flops,
this is not a shot in the dark or a walk in the park,
im a man ready on his mark to rock steady like Bob
and drop heavy as wonder bred never forget that's who brought...

...This to you, get in-tuned
it's not on your radio so plug in your ipod,
im not a rhyme god, but I've got my lines off
like Joseph is how my coat is, mad colors,
i think the big government is actually a bad brother,
im blessed since I have my mother,
and we all are cause we have each other.

Mnm In Memoriam

My days in the streets of despair took me from scanty shanties
Intermittent through dreams drinking the syllables of books
Cast before my eyes, I was at the bottom of nooks and crannies
Hiding in barren valleys of bushes, and sometimes cast hooks
Angling the sea for food that did not feed brain alone. T’was then
Eagled in the sky I saw you like a speck of dew swelling up
Latent opportunities kept before my race as pittance in a cup.

Nobody knows the darkness behind the iron gate of hopelessness
Omitting light except to the paler color and privileged ten percent
Registered in the status quo as rich, despair was a sweet callousness
Meandering the streets at the edge of destructive explosion, pent
Anger muted by the false theories of our worthlessness. We let it
Nurture rebellion in rock steady songs, and battled on playfields over it.

Michael Manley meant more than a man, or regular politician
Anthem in my thoughts, a new hawk against the glitter of crown
Nurturing the trodden down with wand of words, a magician
Letting us believe in the self like an abeng picked from the ground
Entering the new day I campaigned alone to bring it to pass
Yielding nothing in the struggle to the old power of caste and class.

Intelligent, gifted orator, compassionate servant moved by solemn creed
None is left like you since death fragrant you with our native weed.

Men do not write their history alone without lead from God’s intention
Ending the culture of disbelief democracy had its breathless chance
Ministering to the hovels of colonial cast offs, I saw the raw fission
Orchestrating the destiny of the past, your tongue was a glinting lance
Reneging laws of understanding where some were too comfortable
Interestingly filling the place of the great house lord, and regrettable
Another excess of the left, disbanding Africa for blind white theories
Meaningless to our negritude, still you linger in fireside love and sweet stories.

Motive and Thoughts Prt 1

This is a story of a farmer

Who became an informer…

Displacement of this farmer

Was heartless, by a round belly

Robbing a Skinny belly

In a rock steady

See for any story

The context is essential

Like motivation,

An emotional state

Is the presence of stimuli

A thought ……..

But in this instance

There was no resistance

And the diction

Was nonfiction

But a contradiction

Of intuition..

To take ride of humiliation

And bear the scars of crucifixion……………..

Mrs Cuntley

Mrs. Cuntley,
a widow is my landlady.
Chubby and kinda motherly
she cooks for me.

We drink on the weekends,
and the hot stuff begins.
In a see-through gown
she comes into my room and goes down.

I can’t resist
the passion in her hot kiss.
Horny and all perfumey
she rides, wildly!

We ride the powerful waves of ecstasy.
Tit for tat I like it like that, sexually.
A cougar that will not be denied
before she is satisfied.

Hot and sweaty
we rock steady.
I feel her coochie grip,
As she bites her lower lip.

She turns red
and throws back her head.
Suddenly,
we are blown out of the bed !

Not Like This

Revelations,

intimating sanctions,

sailing you to make-shifts,

assailing with blank lips-

I rock Hetty,
while she make's a day-list,

I'm rock steady,
but she's having her hanky tins.

We both have a family-
they all have flailing limbs,

why can't we get along on a train we ask?

But soon lose to space ships

Finding God

FINDING GOD

Like naughty kids return to mother’s love -
One moment without it they are in desperate sway;
Like divers finding air is good to breathe above -
If we forget, it doesn’t mean it goes away.

In our soul’s darkness we seek something
Which already surrounds, is always rock steady.
God is everywhere, permeates our being -
How could God not be here already?

We seek not God, but the way out of our darkness
To find again that God is loving kindness.

Hopeless Nomadic Part 2

Cold nights and tree lights taught him to forget home.
He’s mellow tonight though, no telling what goes unknown.
He packs light and steps heavy and taps his fading flashlight and I bet he’s a lefty.
Duracell down spiral connects with flesh on even time, a metronome of alkaline.
Ill forever remember this snowless December and he’ll certainly forget me.
Still I sway with the music still he keeps it rock steady.

As he rolls down my street and through the night (like I roll through my week)
All that exists is the moon, that man… and me.
Ain’t it somethin’, what life brings when you start listenin’ to the quiet things?

Plastic sacks like gift-wrap, thrice reused, revalued glass
Rides passenger beside wrinkled paper grocery bags
Holding sugar coated soda cans,
Hanging from the rubber handle and his hands were full of gravel.
They grow more fragile as he travels.

And this overanalyzed poet’s delight
Does just that just as the moon tells of midnight.
The crude acoustic music moved right through the tulips, ricocheted off red bricks, treble clefs start riots.

It jukes a tune, almost a salute, not unlike the Lousiana blues, up your spine it always winds up finding the light that burns inside, even from somewhere deep in the bayou at suppertime.
A profound lyric, when you hear it slides the skin from your bones and you fall to the dirt, like ivory stones.

He's hard to get a good look at, and feared like a black alley cat;
his con-man disappearing act is long like the years you cant get back.
The words that i don’t hear his lips say are shouted aloud by his ribcage.
The nickels he bent over backwarrds fo never got easy to take.

This slow going rolling stone grew old with his folded up road map
the only thing that he had when the rain was too bad.

This landed him on a fortunate sweet spot,
an unfound tin can jackpot in the same spot you hadnt yet thought,
the start of the last stop of the things we bought and dinners we got.
His belly goes empty when everything rots.

Feel Good Music

Spreading peace, love and unity
From its roots in Jamaica
To each and every community.

This is reggae music —
The type of music that lifts your spirits,
The type of music that makes you want to smile
Every time you feel it.

So with the heart of a lion,
Stay forever ready,
Ready to move to a beat
So sweet and rock steady,
A beat sending out its good vibes
To each and everybody —

Born from the struggle,
Carved out of pain,
A song of survival
That still breaks the chains.

Cast and Crew

Exfoliated Eddie is an eagle eyed spy
He likes hot Hoxton coffee with his cold Shepherd’s Pie
Crazy for a Sheffield lass, a Steel City shrew
Her conversation’s retro but her attitude is new.

Flopping like a flapper in a 20s Bluebell hat
Comes Information Irene with her ever ready chat
With Rock steady Rory making stories out of facts
Their veracity is skinny but they’re generous like that.

Annihilation Annie’s sitting waiting for a fool
She never wants to play the game but loves to break the rules
At the table by the window now she’s looking out the door
Left her right glove on the bus and dropped the other on the floor

Say goodnight to the sailors, say good heavens to the sea
The light on the horizon must remain a mystery

Nancy joined the Navy but she never had a chance
Argued with the Admiral, got lagging at the dance
She’s dreaming of the oceans from the comfort of the land
And she’ll empty out your pockets if you offer her your hand

The sailors are all sleeping now, in softly rocking beds,
No mattress for their bodies and no pillow for their heads

Say goodnight to the sailors, say good gracious to the sea
The light on the horizon must remain a mystery

Forever and a Day

I thought we were,
The perfect pair.
  I thought we had it,
Special and rare.

  I remember our talks,
Going to the bay.
  Side by side,
We always met halfway.

  If you leave, I surely
Would follow.
  You ran away,
A hard pill to swallow.

  I could never have,
Turned to another.
  We were rock steady,
Then came your mother.

  I believed in our love,
It Was one of a kind.
  You and me together,
The stars have aligned.

  My world shattered,
It is cold and dark.
  This feeling of suffering,
This broken heart.

  Now you look at me
With hate and disgust.
Justify it any way you need to,
If you must.

I gave you all I had,
I gave you, my best.
It proved too much for you,
My heart you still possess.

  You are not solo,
I'm all alone.
  All by myself,
My fate is unknown.

  How do I make
This go away.
  Waiting for you,
Forever and a day.

My Friend Jo

MY FRIEND JO

Friendship isn’t easy,
It doesn’t just happen;
It takes care and commitment
and a willingness to give of yourself
freely, without hesitation.

There are friends you’ve had since childhood
who know all about you, and you them.
You get together on special occasions
or you hear from them
on Birthdays or holidays.

But the most rare and treasured friend
Is one whom you meet unexpectedly,
you connect with immediately,
who seems to know what you are thinking
before you say a word…
who seems to read your soul .

They sense when you are in need of comforting,
or a laugh when you are feeling low.
They don’t judge you when you make mistakes
but are there to pick up the pieces when you do!

A true friend is a treasure, a rock steady and sure.
That’s what you have been for me my friend
And I know that our friendship will endure.

Phantasm

I am ready to rock steady with a brother.
He will be jealous of my healers, which are schemas.
We are such a beautiful couple.
Our cup of love is bubbles as we bath together.
This is phantasm.

Figment is a mental segment that contrives.
He said I was plotting when I was only concocting a plan to realize that he was
     part of my life.
Back channel and SWOT Analysis is how I blew his mind.
The designs I have are curriculum.
I instruct him on how I desire his attention.

This is Phantasm.
I am the wicked witch in this Haven.
You are the Warlock that does well.
Together we compose our lyrics.
Be calm not afraid.
We are bonded to sage.

As a product of fantasy, we have created the Warlock’s Garden in imagery.
I am only savant.
     You are my delirium.

Sagacious is our time in this Garden.
Our secrets will destroy who desires them.
Shrewd we are.
Erudites we are as scholars.

Phantasm of the elusive tenuous form is born to be Armageddon.

We Knew

In all the happy times, there we were,
Your laughing eyes and honey sweet smile
A constant as we travelled through life.
But the sun can’t always shine above,
And ghosts thrive in the stormy nights.
Still, though my heart lay bare and cracked,
You didn’t leave me as I thought you would.
Though I entered a world of darkness,
You knelt down beside me, arms out
To keep me standing against the gale.
When blood ran in rivulets on the stones
From my wracked and ruined body,
You were not appalled, said nothing,
Simply waited for the ghosts to fade away.
Your patient, silent rock steady hope
Enveloped my haunted mind to protect me.
And, rewarded, the ghosts finally did fade,
And hand in hand, we walked on.

Rock Steady

My eyes linger instantly when you enter my world
They light up bright, like a new lightbulb has been replaced
I blink my heavy eyelashes, and you slowly dissolve into my uncertainty
Your look tortures every fiber of my body
I stay put, hoping to obtain a partial smile
I feel a painful stab from your quick stare, your blade is dull cutting my feelings, making me fragile
I feel the blood of my passion, dripping down my spine
I have so much to tell you, I can count the ways
Yet nothing is said on my behalf
My tongue is heavy and swollen, scalded from his thing called love
I tremble at your majestic presence, and you remain so cool and calm, chilly cold as ice
No aftershock is felt, no a single vibration, or comfort
You are dry as earth soil can be
The ground doesn't break, not even a crack
My hands remain blistered, and yet no response
I look in the little mirror, the one hanging on the wall
My hair is perfect, my lips red, my body small
You don't notice my effort, I spray a nice scent
Your nose is up in the air,but you don't look again
I see you walk quickly, you seem to want to get away...you hide in your room
I only hear your sour voice the rest the day
Nothing i have done, nothing I said has moved you toward my way
You seem cemented down steady to your world
I feel your indifference, I want to shrink down and just fall
How do I replace you, you seem so wonderful
I Want to feel this way no more
How to tell my heart to stop beating for you?
I feel a rush of fear, how did it ever get like this
I have concluded this is a thing that needs to be put to rest, it must end
I will look at you no more, your rejection is to much for me to bear.
