Drive mindfully, dear children, as you traverse hurdled highways of life,
Cognizant that adjacent to an oasis of joy, lies a desert brooding strife;
Assume charge of your chosen path, obey rules of road as you ride,
Pursuing life’s aspirations you vie, with compass of mind as your guide.

Beware things luring you with glitter, may be just metal, feigning gold,
Love superficial, love that is shallow, never the love for you to behold;
Don’t let a mirage~ a spurious illusion~ become an aspiration of hope,
Life, a vast ocean, as it ebbs and flows, learn to navigate, strive to cope.

As shrouds and clouds obscure life, seek enlightenment to wear a smile,
Defy encroachment of grimace, defy the vibes that cramp your style;
Embrace blissed domain of empathy, proffering missives angelic, kind,
Yield to others, who are lost, show them the egress destiny designed.

Build your abode on pillars of morals, revering honesty, and trust,
For they are the hallmarks of people, respectable, equitable, just;
Mind your paradigms and proverbs, practice always what you say,
Extend genuine gestures of regret, when actions have gone astray.

Be grateful for family and friends, honor them in prayers of heart,
Create keepsake albums of memories, life-scapes endearing impart;
For they are the priceless treasures of love, omnipresent lifelong,
Inspiring, nurturing you, reassuring all along~ love can do no wrong.

We are the high altitude sentinels.
Our small groves freckle the high plains.
We keep to ourselves, mostly
upon the snow burdened peaks
where our ashen trunks blend
and our barren branches cling
to icy white glitter.

As the breath of winter ebbs
we watch the crystal spring run-off
growing ever greener with envy
of how it races down the hill; babbling.
We whisper this to one another
in the crisp mountain air, solemn
as we keep watch.

From our station on the precipice
we behold fully the majestic sun
revering at dusk how it paints the sky.
In the failing warmth of autumn,
we offer in turn, our own reflection of
magnificent golden sunset skies
in our shimmering yellow foliage.

We keep company with pines,
firs, spruces, and other prickly sorts.
Conifers aren’t social, which suits us
as we keep mostly to ourselves.
Sentinels must remain vigilant, after all,
watchful for approaching danger.
We quake from paranoia, probably.

Our bark is pale, above all, for fear.
We’ve seen your kind before.
Your kind we watch most carefully.
If you look close, you will see
from our thousand dark eyes
we always look closely back at you.

Are you dangerous?

*I loved the aspens when my family would go camping in the high Uinta mountain range in Utah. They are beautiful and they can grow at such high elevation (above 10,000 ft) it's really amazing.

Your silence,
a stillness of alluring patience
seductive in it's resilience,
suspicious magnificence,
unmatched beauty demanding vigilance
making this man rowdy and restless for your finesse,
distressed by this drama of love's test,

You're the only woman scratching this chest
with passion's raging arrest, nails of sharp zest,
the supreme Queen keeping me raw and hard, my only quest,
I'm confessing you are the best, the most luxuriant caress, my unhesitant request,

I want every feeling you're capable of conceiving Babe,
knowing and revering your eclectic emotions, your unspoken demands,
burning for your paradon and kiss, you will always know I am love in your hands
share with me the fuel of fervent fire, gems be our eyes, together, golden pulse we've made -

Icicles on leaves and branches of trees
They begin to melt down bit by bit
Rays of sunlight appears, as winter cease
Freezing air fades, as glow of sun increase

Squirrels, rabbits run wild and free
Birds of various speed soaring high
                      Their mellifluous tweets, a melody
                      Piebald butterflies dancing merrily

Leafless, lifeless trees in healthy living
Colorful buds of daffodils, magnolias around
Their natural beauty, a wonder, stately astounding!
Rain falls, softening the earth as new shoots abounds!

Frozen grasses before, now stilled with energy light
Blossoms as well, humbled with new beginning
Seeds scattered rises as in springs
Snows gone, as sun's refulgence a revering bright

a praying mantis
on knees busy revering
me so bewildered
if this small mortal complies
why humans are ungracious

Premium Member Navigating Through Life's Highway

Hurdled is life’s highway to every milestone:
Detours, traffic woes~ impediments to goal,
Perturbing in hindrances that endlessly groan
Searching exit ramp to soothe anguished soul.

Though memories of yore, of pain bemoan,
Benevolence of today vows to mold morrow,
Prodding fate of future~ opaque, unknown,
Defying grievous intents in ill-will of sorrow.

Wished for earnestly, life is a cherished dream,
An exuberance of spring, of burbling stream,
A meaningful exploration of endearing theme;
Mystical, phenomenal, halo of mirthful gleam.

Life is a fleeting dot on scale of eternal time,
A journey of courage, yet harbinger of fears;
Gracefully revering the echoes of lifetime,
Whether reveling in joy or lamenting in tears.

Rejoice in life’s sunset, rejoice in life’s sunrise,
Greet charming smiles, yet ignore not its sighs,
Celebrate spring’s birth, mourn autumn’s demise,
Cheer life’s welcome, dwell not in goodbyes.

Premium Member Where There Is Love

Far away from her, far from comfort zone
He goes there, where life beckons him
Remaining true to purpose and meaning
Atop the mountains or deep in the valleys
Revering her love, as he journeys alone.

Maneuvering around life's dead-ends
In wayward motion of destiny's u-turns,
Avenues she illuminates besting darkness--
Being his street-lamp, patently she burns.

When forces somber aim to deter him
Bravely she appears readying her valor
Standing by him, in step with his shadow.

He sees her all-over, where there is love.

I'm trying to save the world today.
The glory moment.
Finish the novel.
Feed the children.
Fill their souls.
Redeem the soul of the world.
Hand back their dignity.
Sign off on full disclosure.
Biking right through the bourgeoisie.
Let them see.
I am the light.
Shining from sea to sea.
Do you hear me?
Paul Revering?
So send me home
Or let me roam.
Any way is the way,
Since I'm trying to save the world today.

Before the Moment Passes

Two spirits of passions
From ever separating worlds

Watching and hoping with intensity

Drifting on winds of nowhere
Tracings of comfort and familiarity

Fearing the change that arrives with risk

Ignoring pangs in exchanges of nothings
Yet there exists a sweet fervor between them

That unyielding thirst of eternal desiccation

Two souls of this fiery desire
From existence so indistinct

On parallel journeys reaching for the one another

Admittance revering nature’s truth
Building intensities more than either cares to confess

Each wanting to stake all for a chance…silence prevailing

Passing the eons of eternities boundaries
No end in sight of this voiceless duel of pride

Begging inside to grapple the moment before it passes

Two spirits of passion
From ever separating worlds

If to chance a moment’s gaze to see that they truly are one

Culture Chameleon

In youthful exuberance I become a culture bandit
Well exposed, but never really learning.
Modernity taking a toll as Papa and Ante chased the goods
For my sake they said... No mistakes... deed was good
Nanny TV with her bright inviting light
My imagination on wide escapades around the world
And farther altering my personality by giving me languages, dress codes, and even an accent.
So I stole, other cultures infused, fitting in everywhere or so I thought.
And Yet
In all my juvenile delinquency I could never, tell an adult to his face you are wrong
Revering old age; what is that, where is that from?
In my Success in Corporate with policy of first names and no regard for age but ability and brain
I could never bring myself to say Pat.
Aunty Pat can you please email the document to me
Wait, what? Am I not her boss.
So I stole…. Other cultures infused, fitting in everywhere, Or so I thought.
Drawn to the immaculate white of that gown
Instinctively I top it off with a colorful Kente Scarf?
The height I can rock in these 6 inch heels
but how Royal the Ahenema slippers makes me feel
This perfect perfect pony will do well with…. no not pearls or sapphire;
Animal bone necklace and earrings
Oh how perfect my manicure will be accessorized with these….no not diamonds
Bamboo bangles
I will wear the jeans, But only with that tank top with Adinkra symbols
So I stole… other cultures infused, fitting in everywhere… or so I thought.
My true culture grasping at my core
As I gasped, when that little boy called his father’s friend Larry
When He picked the carrot stick with his left hand from the bowl serving the community I died
Though it didn’t make sense because as a right handed person I would say my left hand is as clean as dried
I smiled brightly when that couple spoke Twi, while we waited for the A- train on the subway
My Culturally biased heart coveting a conversation
So I stole, Other cultures infused, fitting in everywhere
A cultural bandit … infused with other cultures… blending in well, or so I thought.
Without need of Affirmation, I have Ghanaian blood flowing through my veins
I know the voice of my people, the beautiful colour
Of the soul that makes a Ghanaian.
In the mother land or not. Ghana comes with us.
From generation to generation Ghana is us
Perfect Culture Chameleons
We fit right in
Ghana is our heritage.

Morning Has Broken

Gazing through the crystal clear morn,
Mirrors of curves in face,
Light winged feathers in the sky
Shrilling about yet another day;
With avid and sporty,
Besides discreet to humans.

Gazing through the crystal clear morn,
Dear of my heart stay ubiquitous,
Reflecting and revering the two curves
Albeit a day of dissatisfaction;
Replacing my heavy heart,
With his valley of lilies.

Gazing through the crystal clear morn,
Retrieving some moments in the far high
altitude,
A bliss of solitude of mind among the evergreen pines
There exist a tranquil paradise;
Fall cold chilly winds,
Holding our hands together to warm each
other.

Crusade

CRUSADE

The crusader brandished his stiff sword
sharpened
didn´t want
but beheaded idols
to liberate his inner temple
swift and passionate was his riding
saturated
didn´t want
but unpaved the temples
to remember the first stone
and had peace

on the way he clashed spades
bled
sparked spades
was blinded by light
floated in the void
and saw colors
earthly shades
and then kinetic spatial explosion
of unknown prisms
crossing cross crusaders
irreligious and revering
