crying
whimpering like an
abandoned puppy
behind the bedroom door
and my
compassionate heart
broke in two.
The mighty hands
that had inflicted
chronic pain
now distorted
arthritic, useless
disabled weapons
...lifeless duds,
yet throbbing
mercilessly.
Knuckles swollen
as big as macadamia
nuts, fingers
warped
like barbwire,
