......a strange color, green

Become better informed, listen to your teachers,
educate yourself....which branch will the bluejay
survey from?
The hawk, circling, choose his best option?

Bleeding soldiers depend on doctors, rich men
depend on accountants, souls depend on preachers,
tap water depends on scientists and engineers,
nourishing the parched vagaries of citizens
and houseplants.

Words fall like acid-rain, seemingly harmless,
we thought we understood rain, it falls, it
nourishes, fills our reservoirs....then leaves a stain,
a clear outline of abuse, like evaporated salt, clinging
to our shirts after a hard day, sound bite upon bite.

Still, we wade through flooded streets, hoping the
tides will descend, rhetoric return to sanity, our lives
safe, from future floods.

after the elephants parade through every mind

        the straw left behind

collects promises dumped in the streets

        polled, polished,perfumed

ready to sweep it all up on election day

        hit pause... wait four years

                               repeat

                                                wait four years

                                                                           repeat

Is This the Best We Can Do

in a country of 335 million people
one of the richest more educated places
on the entire planet

the largest economy,
the best military
still for now a democratic country

is this the best we can do
choose between three old white men
as our next leader
and the leader of the world ?

a clearly delusional NYC ex reality TV star president
still talking about draining the swamp
and fighting the evil deep state
destroying the government in the process
as he and his cronies loot the country

a gadfly Senator ex Brooklyn Jew from small town Vermont
formenting radial revolution
yet failing to excite anyone but the young
and those falling behind

and a professional politician who has been around for decades
calling to restore the old failed status quo
saying that he can restore competence to the government
hoping that the third time is the famous charm

dear God if you exist
is this the best we can do?
nothing but silence
as God does not answer my plea

Senator Edward Kennedy introduced "The affordable health care act"!Barack Obama implemented"The affordable health care act"and had some "Legislative flack, but this "Affordable Health Act " was made "Law"and that is a fact! They tried to shut the "Law" down, and "The American People said that that was not sound, and "Affordable Health Care should stay around in every "State",and in every town! John McCain,Susan, and Lisa spoke up,and said that this "LAW"should not be replaced ,because those who are "American Citizens have a real right to have "Health Care in this "United States"!!!! The "American Flag" is now more respected, because "Affordable Health Care was not neglected, and this is what "Americans have detected: "We The People" feel that we all are respected!President Donald Trump moved in the right direction, and "Detected"that our "Allies"were not paying their "Fare share",and President Donald Trump put controls on foreign imports that were sucking "America"dry, and "Donald" realized that "Americans" can create products and sell our product "World Wide"! Americans need to have "Dignity,Power,Love, and Pride!!Let us love : Do not be afraid of loving too much! Love is the fulfilling of "The Law"!!!! If I were the President
at least for one day
I’d build me a sandbox
Where everyone could play

I wouldn’t be a liar
I’d gladly tell the truth
No eye for an eye
Or a tooth for a tooth

The White House doors open
Republicans, Democrats
I’d welcome all people
Great thinkers and cool cats

I might not be popular
With those who won’t change
They might think I’m eccentric
Or at the least a bit strange

Because I’m not a politician
Power ain’t my goal
I wouldn’t worry about ballots
or claim elections are stole

I want a safe Nation
With People who are Free
But I won’t be President
So you can’t count on me

Inspired by Matt Caliri’s latest contest.

Current Presidential Campaign

The current presidential campaign seems asinine
For both candidates if elected promise all will be fine
Each runs down the other
Thus pertinent policy never given gesture
As we the people sip their political strychnine

Premium Member Presidential Trivia

President's Day is approaching so I thought I would further your education,
By revealing useless trivia about some of the dudes who've served our nation.

President Washington actually had to borrow money to get to his inauguration.
He wore size 13 shoes and seldom took a bath much to Martha's indignation!

Abe Lincoln agreed his wasn't the prettiest face when all was said and done!
Once called 'two-faced' he said, "If I had two faces, do you think I'd wear this one?"

James Buchanan was nearsighted in one eye and farsighted in the other,
Causing him to lean his head to the left and close one eye, which was a bother!

For his breakfast, Ulysses Grant loved cucumbers soaked in vinegar to eat!
He probably saved his hide since he declined to join Abe in his theater suite!

Woodrow Wilson was plagued with indigestion and was blind in one eye.
He had a pet sheep named Old Ike that chewed tobacco and that ain't no lie!

Cal Coolidge used a paucity of words so that many folks thought him dead!
He liked his head rubbed with Vaseline while eating his breakfast in bed!

Harry Truman kept a sign on this desk that read, "The Buck Stops Here!"
Remembered will be his scorching letter to an editor defending Margaret's career!

'Tis well-known that Ronnie Reagan dearly loved Nancy and jelly beans,
And was happiest at his ranch riding a horse and wearing old jeans!

And finally, from Barack Obama we learned that there are fifty-seven states,
And that he makes skillful use of a teleprompter to ensure there are no misstates!

Th-th-thats all folks - more than you ever wanted to know about these chaps!
(There's much more I could reveal but it best be kept under close wraps!)

BP knew on February Thirteenth

Of structural flaws in the well beneath

     Goldman Sachs sold its stock

It should come as no shock

The Lord in heaven is grinding his teeth

*Goldman Sachs was the number two contributor to the Obama campaign and
suspicion has surfaced as to why the White House has inadequately monitored
offshore drilling and has been slow to act on stopping the oil spill.
GS sold nearly 60 percent of its BP stock before the April 20th explosion. Coincidence? Insider trading?

Ronald Reagan in his prime
Was a foodie, way ahead of his time
   Though others thought it 'kvetch-able'
He daringly labeled ketchup, on meat, a vegetable!

Premium Member Presidential History Reprise Surprise

George Washington chopped down a tree as a lad
Then told his dad that he'd been bad

With the stroke of a pen, Thomas Jefferson kick-started a nation
Touting revolution every so often with his Declaration

Andrew Jackson had a penchant for whiskey
Native Americans found him way too frisky

Abraham Lincoln was thin but brave
Reunited the nation and freed the slaves

As a child Teddy Roosevelt was always ill
But as President he led the charge up San Juan Hill

His cousin Franklin took over in the Great Depression
And then three times won reelection.

JFK and Jackie ushered in 'Camelot'
'Til in a Dallas motorcade he was shot

Ronald Reagan demanded the Soviets end their stall,
"Mr. Gorbachev, please, tear down that wall!"

Bill Clinton said, "It's the economy, Stupid!"
Before he was cut down by Monica and Cupid

And now Mr. Trump draw lines in the sand
Saying, "Let's make America great again!"

And did you know that Yankee Doodle preferred apple strudel
To a leftover dish of cold, wet noodles?

Hope you've enjoyed this reprise of Presidential history
Which to the majority of Americans is an absolute mystery

P.S. Rumors have it that Yankee Doodle is considering a
comeback run for POTUS in the 2020 election.
His slogan reportedly will be, "Make America
        handy with Yankee Doodle Dandy."
        The "Me-too" movement has already
        dialed in death threats ...

Obama's Presidential Election

It's better to learn
from those above the rest.
and nothing is good
like being as one.

I believe the best way
is to unite,
and to make a right choice
in the right time.

I mean
we should unite all for peace,
one love and one world.

Corruption and wars
are useless today,
if we are to unite
in the world of peace.

As with many dreams, I do not understand the dream I had last night. On the night of December 19, 2007, I dreamed about a candidate for President of the United States. I dreamed that he was the recipient of a strong spiritual awakening. In the dream, it was evident that it was not a political ploy, but was sincere and truly genuine.

I do have a pull toward governors because of their prior experience and administration abilities. Also, Although it matters, I am not very concerned about the candidates' religion. It also concerns me about their marital success or the lack thereof. In addition, I like candidates that are fiscal conservatives with flekibility and pragmatism with regards to social issues.

This country needs more balance with regards to military interventions. We seem to swing too far to the left/right extremes. We must defend America's way of life and our vital interests around the world. However, it is time for both parties and all Americans to reclarify and redefine what our vital interests are.

We can be proud of the fact that we have always sought to discover, invent, and innovate new ideas and new ways of doing things. I believe that we have led the way in making the world a better place in which to live. May our fathers' God show us the way out of our present wilderness.

This dream will force me to take a closer look at the candidates. We are clearly at a new crossroad in the quest for a God fearing, peaceful,, and properous America. Perhaps this dream also portrays a longing for a rebirth in the hearts of all Americans.

The high level of prosperity that we have experienced in America has not silenced the cries of the human heart. Could it be that I have seen a preveiw, not of a particular candidate, but of America's new leader, whomever he might be? Or could it be that America has come to a place in our history whereby every fiber of our being is crying out for a new awakening?

I cannot interprete the meaning of my dream or what it might signal; but I can say with certainty that it is most crucial that we be vigilant in employing our next leader. cj122007 (Edited and condensed for PS, 10012016)

The Presidential Haters

The real reason why there is such criticism with the Presidency,
is because Obama put an end to the Haters' parties,
The dining on gourmet flesh, in the name of terrorism,
came to an end when the Democrats got back in,

The stench of corruption, fornication and debauchery,
executed on the backs of residents of middle eastern ancestry,
died an abrupt death when a minority seized the reigns,

The Presidency may be at stake from the withdrawal pains,
Haters refusing to relinquish their sinister grips on foreign flesh
and the wealth that it brings,

The Presidency stands in the way of their sins,
The day their delirious fun ended, a wave of hating started,
The advantage taking of a people came to a halt,
giving way to the rantings of naysayers, seeking to bring the
President down.
