You can act like the world owe you everything
Or you can go out there
Take a deep breath
And create your own magic

Even sharing your smile is a catalyst
When you don’t feel your worth
Remember potential are packaged in different forms

Step away from wanting to be what others think you should be
And just be you
Your worth and your potential is not determined by strangers
It starts within

Premium Member Break Ranks and Run

Scrambling over each other, trying hard to be heard, interrupting, yelling out, being yourself.

We knew how to do this when we were two, and three, and four, but they socialized it out of us.

So we grew up un-learning our naturalness, un-learning our playfulness, unlearning our potential.

Sure, they say, we are going to help you with your potential, but as we fit into the lines, conforming,

Winding our real selves into the pretenders others accept, we lose our potential, because it is

Not ours anymore, it is your idea of what ours should be. When we break ranks, and run for it,

You lament that you cannot control us. Thank goodness you cannot, for the leaders, the ones who have

Stood for hundreds and thousands of others have learned to scream their truth from the roof tops,

Challenging those who think controlling others is normal. There is nothing more abnormal than that.

The Theft of Your Potential Remains In the Future

It is Never Too Late to Be What You Were Born to Be
You are a creature of purpose
Therefore empower yourself with what is already yours!
Passion and the power of your vision
Can be displayed in your life
All you need is that decision and
You can enhance the precision in your life.

Procrastination might be wrong!
In this century
Now is the time to live strong
Accumulate the thoughts you have left behind
Because the theft of your potential remains in the future.
Do not let the cemetery rob you of your potential
Fulfillment of your purpose is essential to your life so
This matter of persistence is certainly not inconsequential.

Believe in the steps of time or else
The crime of procrastination will follow and
You will live a shallow life
The theft of your potential remains in the future
Therefore empower yourself with what is already yours!
It is never too late to be what you were born to be.

I Meant To

Mother,

I meant to finish college and
go get my Master’s degree,
to become and engineer
and built great things in our cities.

I meant to show you my new house
with a suite above the garage,
so you could leave that damn ghetto
and have a safe placed to lodge.

I meant to tell you of my Marie,
how she’s all wrapped around my heart,
let her tell you how excited
she is for the family we’ll start.

I meant to show you your grandkids,
two boys and a little girl,
so you could spoil them rotten,
show them off to all the world.

I meant to thank you in a speech
when I got that big award,
then be ushered off the big stage
before the audience got bored.

I meant to help you with the bills
when your health began to fail,
to rant and rave at the doctors
if you continued to ail.

I meant to make the Holidays
a joyous time for family,
to invite them all down here
and throw a truly righteous feast.

I meant to do so many things,
to love, strive, achieve and give,
but mostly mom, to be honest,
I think I most wanted to live.

But in an inner-city clinic
they stuck a vacuum in my head,
barely made it half-way out,
you meant for me to be dead.

Premium Member Hidden Potential

Look at me, what do you see?
I have the potential to be great.
But I can't do it on my own.
Calling all brushes, I need you.
I want to reach my full potential.
Whose knows I may become a,
Masterpiece on full display.
What I become is all up to you.
Calling all brushes, big and small,
And please don't forget the paint.
Only then will I become complete.

Far from home

Weekend clouds remind me of home
Deviating myself not to be alone
The sky during sunset turns pale
I fell into a loophole the day after.

Many hold you during the first breath
They will be there behind, watching you
Even moments with mates never fade,
You hope to have eternal time again.

Get the one-time opportunity to excel
Unleashing potential aligned with purpose
Unveiling fair play with the time I have
And make my purpose a mighty farewell.

Many surround you after the last breath
They will be there behind, watching you
Make the most of the time you will have
Make it glad as you left home with pride.

Premium Member Expectations

promise may be both a blessing and curse
sometimes turning into something far worse
potential the symbol for higher things
beyond the grasp of most human beings

entering such an uneven bargain
few do willingly pick up the burden
where any result short of final goal
makes an individual less than whole

pressing beyond standard deviations
brought down by weight of old expectations
having become the fly-in-the-ointment
can’t avoid looks of clear disappointment

all but a game of another's making
freedom lies within the role's forsaking

Old girlfriends, my dad’s drifting down that path,
Into death valley as my mom seethes wrath.
The old man’s gone crazy.
His mind sharp, not lazy.
Mom’s dried the dishes. Dad’s in the flight path.

Premium Member The Loss of a Friend the Potential Loss of Another

The loss of a friend
- Kenny - 58 years.

May the blue skies
and your brown eyes
be filled not – with a tear,
only memories of everything dear !

The potential loss of another
- John - 48 years

It has been many a year,
John, since from you, I did hear.
And now, to learn, my man,
fate has played it’s pat hand.
Cruel as it is John, I guess it will stand.
I can only hope and pray John, that you
may get to play another hand or two.

The Potential For Love

Excite for the opportunity,
gracious of the chance.
For the possibility, to discover,
our connection, in romance.

In hopes, of us, finding,
the aspirations, of us, to gain.
A relationship, where all, is shared,
through our happiness, and our pain.

However, with there, being risk,
in each others reflected credential.
We can never, be truly afraid,
to seek, our true, love potential.

The Potential

Is this tangible as depicted by my senses?
Never knowing if I am here or there in my alibi,
Foreseeing a multitude of path that lies in unison,
Intuitively choosing as choices disappear in the drag,
Nesting in my being, will I bid in a fond adieu?
If I am forced to say goodbye, will it even be mutual?
Take it away! This fondness of dystopia,
Existing in an infinite potential of a Singular.

Hint:
One cannot exist without the other,
From one end of the spectrum to another.

A mattering, started scattering, broke and shattering
Choke, broke, spoke, yoke

Hostile for a while, quite a gal, would beguile, could compile
Seduce, reduce, produce
Abuse, excuse, obtuse, what's the use
Wangle, angle, dangle, wrangle
Worrisome thought, Lincoln was shot, outside is hot
In between was caught, hit the spot, ended with dot, within earshot

Now go for it. Jim Horn
