When I see him standing there,
My heart starts to ruthlessly pounding
I decide to say a silent prayer
Asking God for His expedient blessing

Thoughts of our time together
Create pictures inside my mind
But I refuse to grow bitter
Because I know love is blind

The memories quiet my dreams
Of all that might have been with him
True love isn’t all that it seems
The sparkle in my eyes grows dim

He walks over and smiles toward me
I feel the heat rise in my face
Hoping that he won’t see
I pray for God’s amazing grace

Before he has the chance to say hello
I turn and walk out the door
Refusing to go with the flow
Realizing that I want more

Our time together is in the past
Times filled with hope, faith and love
But the memories will forever last
They are gifts from God above

Past Love

Why can't you love me when I love you?
Why couldn't you be there for me when I needed you?
Why couldn't you have just been okay?
Why did you cheat on me that day?
Why can't we make everything go away?
Why can't we sit along that beautiful bay?
Why on that day,
did you take our love away?
Why couldn't you have loved me,
When I then once loved you too.

Past Love

Embers of past love
Soaked in pale memory dust
Where love equals lust

Past Love

It appeared, for the longest time, that I was over you.
Each day my mind would bury your memory,
Continualy obsturing your face and your touch.
I began to shift my gaze.
I started looking straight ahead.
The past was to my back.

But most recently, from the depths of my mind,
You sprang forth!
Now I am once again at a crossroad.
Which path should I take?
That is the only question that is on my mind.
It devours my whole being.

To my right;
It is a life of hardships,
But in the darkness you'll be there.
Embracing, pushing away our troubles.
And that is all we would need, each other.
Mediocrady, but love.

And to my left;
Life like the gentle flow of a river.
Lonely but easy going.
Walking in solidarity, being content.
And I will ever long for more.
Exceptional, but alone.

Thoughs are my options, but I am stuck
Looking at the diverging road.

My late wife has told me;
It was so easy to fall in love with me?

My late love; I saw a glimpse,
And thought
She was a shiny thing!

My late love was shown my scars,
When suddenly
It was easy to leave.

My late love taught me;
Her desire was being left behind!

What if this amazement of my late love,
My wife,
That she wishes to still stay by my side?

I love her blissfully!

Life As I Sip My French Viognier

Life as I Sip My French Viognier

With an Indy Blues melody softly playing behind me,
I relax on my outdoor couch, tired legs stretched out,
After a brutal uphill hike earlier this windy day.
A cold glass of french viognier at my lips,
As I sip slowly, listening to the myriad bird calls.

Yes, retirement certainly agrees with me,
As well as my recent move away from the city.
I feel very fortunate to be able to self isolate
Without any effort at all on this beautiful coast.
And I take another sip of my french viognier.

The froth of the waves kiss the shoreline,
As the seagulls float effortlessly above,
Providing me with an aerial entertainment.
I ponder on my life and my dreams for old age
And I take another sip of my french viognier.

Suddenly wings flap into my zen and a streak of black
Flies directly towards me through my patio,
Landing on the railing behind me....a large raven!
I looked at him and he looked sideways at me,
And I take another sip of my french viognier.

I feel a bit discombobulated after this event
And wonder what the meaning of this intrusion is.
Was it a friend from the city flying by for a visit?
Or perhaps the spirit of my long gone parents?
I take another sip of my french viognier.

Thoughts arise of a dear friend from my past
And the memories of a life that once was.
When happiness was all that I knew,
That same happiness that is so distant now.
And I take another sip of my french viognier.

As I relax on my outdoor couch, sadness overcomes me...
Another Indie Blues melody softly plays behind me,
In this serene zen I have created here by the seaside.
I feel I have lost something on this path called life.....
And I take another sip of my french viognier.

Past Love

In awe of him I stared as if he a mountain
of grey glaciers where black butterflies
drooped wings eyelids of the miserable mourner
our wasted limbs entwined, celtic knots half drawn
wilted wanderers wanting a feather bed
on which to lie, under glinting satin sunsets.

When the lights go off
When curtains are drawn
When stillness settles here

 I lie thinking

It is you swirling in me like feathers in soft winds or letters over an ocean

Like a little girl swings in spring time
 Swaying slow
At the bus stops by the ways where vineyards grow
At times you try and hide
Some how your feelings show:
Puddled eyes, swaying hips both arms in a hold,
Drawing circles in the sand with the end of your toes

Over time you became so quiet
I left you in the stillness the nostalgic silence like the lost bow of a violin
Perhaps in time retirements
Perchance someday we'll find it

You fell and wept, I knelt as you bled, there's a scar that I've nursed on the side of your leg

Premium Member Past Love Letters

How many lovers
Pen in hand
Sat on this park bench
Inspired by the kiss of this same sun
Enjoying a breathtaking moment
In spite of their heavy heart
Writing a love letter to their beloved
Separated for any number of reasons
Obligation, tragedy or even war

When I close my eyes
I could be in any era
Today we email, tweet or text
But back when things were more simple
Things were a lot more complicated
The letter was by far the most romantic
When all is said and done, it always will

My Past Love, My Love

My past love
I loved you but love you no more
My love i love you
And I know you love me
My past love
You gave up and left me
My love
Your here with your love for me
My past love
Once you were everything now your nothing
My love
You have my heart and you are my soul
My past love
Why do you still love me when i dont love you
My love
Our feelings shared they're intertwinded with our hearts
My past love
Your out of my heart but why do you put me in yours
My love
Your in my heart and I'm in yours thats how our life is.
My past love
I can love you no more for
My love
Is here for me and you are not and never were

Past Love

A cold day as this reminds me of the good old days;
when we were together, holding hands and kissing nights away.
Now on a cold day like this one that chills my bones;
I wonder where you're at.
On the sat-covered streets where the bare-feet freeze as they carve pathways,
through an already paved road;
they smile and hold each other close as I sit and freeze alone,
while I wonder where you're at.

A bouquet of roses given to you by another hand... another heart.
It hurts me to wonder like this about you,
but my heart is still there.
My heart still crawls out of the bed of the past,
and it's listening to those old songs,
and it remembers those cold nights together;
close at hand we were.

Living in the past is not the way to go,
but when the heart knows no other happiness it shall stay in the past and smile.
That's all I have left,
leave me now,
go on with your day,
your life;
I can't blame you for moving on,
getting high,
fly to Cloud 9,
see the Red Dragon we call love;
I can't blame you.
Maybe one day my heart will get sick of the past and want to go to Cloud 9
where the Red Dragon sits,
lips pink and puffed up,
and that beautiful, but scary Red Dragon will kiss me,
and I will kiss her,
and I'll smile again.

... And love will follow.

Emerald Isle. ( song )
.
One ... day I will return to the emerald isle
That I ..love
Where I was born
And my heart belongs
To chase the pretty girls again
And listen to the old
...folk songs……..
.
For although I be a travelling man
And my feet cannot stay still...
So I roam…,,,
I’ve yet to find
A better place
My heart can find a home….
.
How I long….
To breath that air again….
And touch the emerald green
Sit and watch the fishing boats
Sail by
Like as a boy I did
And….. dream
.
How I miss the old.. pub in town
And all the people I used to know…..
I wonder how many are living now
And how many underground
.
For although I be a travelling man
And my feet cannot stay still
So I roam…...
I’ve yet to find
A better place
My heart can find a home…….
.
How I long….
To breath that air again
And touch the emerald green…...
Sit and watch the fishing boats
Sail by
Like as a boy I did
And….. dream
.
One day I will return to the emerald isle…...
That I love
Where I was born……..
And my heart belongs
To chase the pretty girls again
And listen to the old
...folk songs

Unraveled

I've been waiting for you for quite a while
Though when you resurfaced I was unable to smile

I was tangled up in a web of lies
with the one I needed to say goodbye

His grip was strong as he held me tight
Blinding me; I could not see your light

The day arrived when I came to my senses
Letting go of all past defenses

I washed away all of my sins
Now I am ready to begin

I needed time to heal my heart
That is why we could not start

Time was my friend throughout this trial
It sure was indeed, all the while

I am free now to pursue
whatever I wish myself to do

I am secure, I am for real
Let's go ahead and make our deal

There are no tricks, only treats
Therefore we'll endure any defeats

Let the past be forgotten
Failing relationships, it makes us rotten

Communication is the key
For me for you, you for me

I long to hold you close, hold you near
making all your nightmares disappear

I always wondered what we could be
Me inside you, you inside me

I love you more than you could ever know
So let's get started and give it a go!

Premium Member A Better Man

Am I a better man today
Than yesterday? Who knows
Outwardly nobody can say
Inwardly there I was..
I was, this pretty much describes
Me in the present tense
I’m living in the past that dies
Within a plot I sense
It saves a better life for us
That’s where I belong
Isn't in something you may trust
Apart of life that's gone
Those days with darling love I keep
In files of memory
I never thought it goes that deep
Deeper than we can see.
