Life As I Sip My French Viognier
Life as I Sip My French Viognier With an Indy Blues melody softly playing behind me, I relax on my outdoor couch, tired legs stretched out, After a brutal uphill hike earlier this windy day. A cold glass of french viognier at my lips, As I sip slowly, listening to the myriad bird calls. Yes, retirement certainly agrees with me, As well as my recent move away from the city. I feel very fortunate to be able to self isolate Without any effort at all on this beautiful coast. And I take another sip of my french viognier. The froth of the waves kiss the shoreline, As the seagulls float effortlessly above, Providing me with an aerial entertainment. I ponder on my life and my dreams for old age And I take another sip of my french viognier. Suddenly wings flap into my zen and a streak of black Flies directly towards me through my patio, Landing on the railing behind me....a large raven! I looked at him and he looked sideways at me, And I take another sip of my french viognier. I feel a bit discombobulated after this event And wonder what the meaning of this intrusion is. Was it a friend from the city flying by for a visit? Or perhaps the spirit of my long gone parents? I take another sip of my french viognier. Thoughts arise of a dear friend from my past And the memories of a life that once was. When happiness was all that I knew, That same happiness that is so distant now. And I take another sip of my french viognier. As I relax on my outdoor couch, sadness overcomes me... Another Indie Blues melody softly plays behind me, In this serene zen I have created here by the seaside. I feel I have lost something on this path called life..... And I take another sip of my french viognier.
