~ CALYPSO ~

Odyssey of the open ocean
Eclipsing the performance of Heaven's delight
A beautiful name whispered along the night
Calypso enhanced with enchanted lullabies
Sweet silver streams, dreamy epic diamond dreams
Serendipity falls in like mist, under the majestic marble moonlight
Calypso, you belong to--
--Sunsets of the secret sea.
Mysterious-- many precious places to go,
Calypso --free flowing, floating legend!
Ride the beastliness breeze above the sea
Whisper, Calypso come for me!
Beautiful Comforting, Calypso Carry me!

Reflections easily deliquesce into thin air
Sedating the open waters -Voyage- view
Visionary Vessel above liquid level,
as divine in spirits she sails.
CA-LYP-SOO-- Nymph Nature Name
Aquatic belief-----------------------
CALYPSO, the journey of all journey's
For all eternity----------------------

Premium Member I Pass the Graveyard

I pass the graveyard deep in snow.
One woman at a headstone weeps
all dressed in black like winter crows

as memories in warmth she keeps.
While icicles from boughs hang low
one woman at a headstone weeps.

Still muted angels' trumpets blow
and 'cross the powder darkness creeps
while icicles from boughs hang low.

On granite crags do snowflakes heap
where frost on trees like lichens grow
and 'cross the powder darkness creeps.

As past the iron fence I go
her mortal love in silence sleeps
where frost on trees like lichens grow.

My heart into my throat now leaps.
I pass the graveyard deep in snow;
her mortal love in silence sleeps
all dressed in black like winter crows.

Premium Member Pass the Peace Pipe

In the twilight spirits come to play,
listen closely to what they have to say.

In the early dawn, they will sit with you,
and greet the sun that shines anew.

As our sacred pipe gets passed around,
through billowing smoke, some prayers are found.

A ceremonial tradition that honours all things,
come join with us as the Great Spirit sings.

Enlightenment comes when you open thy heart,
it's never too late to make a new start.

Beings from the stars will you lend us a hand?
To help unite this Earth across every land?

Premium Member You Let the Moment Pass

Eternity within your grasp
My plea? To undo the clasp
Let Desire wash away
Tomorrow and yesterday
Every other thought and dream
Meaningless I make them seem
Had you let the floodgates go
Oh, what pleasure you would know
But you let the moment pass

Tranquility came softly by
Sweet promise with you to lie
A scent full of serenity
Permeating entity
It caressed your very skin
But you didn’t let it in
No, you let the moment pass

Passion demands obeisance
Set to conquer your essence
In fevered pitch of a storm
To tempt you in every form
Fantasies of every kind
Unleashed frenzy of the mind
Transformed into what is real
But you were afraid to feel
To be tossed around and worn
To be completely reborn
Pounded by a wanton need
Every craving to be freed
Coaxed to burst into flame
But fear made your wild heart tame
And you let the moment pass

Love came knocking at your door
To bequeath a kiss and more
Calling in angelic chime
Faithful pledge denying time
Bonding of a soul to soul
Golden chance to become…whole
Promise true to last and last
But you let the moment pass

Now you beg and kneel to pray
For Him to open the way
You cajole powers that be
Somehow to change destiny
Before that moment to stand
Hold it safely in your hand
To seize me, the source of these
Let passion and love to please
To capture that golden time
Where all could fall into rhyme

Oh, my love, it will not be
My broken heart cannot see
My way through the halls of time
When I begged to make you mine
And now, my love, alas, alas
I must let this moment pass
In tears I let this moment……..P A S S

When I Pass

when i pass
i will linger on in a few memories
a few nanoseconds in man's history
place no stone above me
with some name easily forgotten
never bury me in the earth
in some hollowed-out cavity
waiting for some delusional day
when cemeteries reach some prophecy
looking like a Wack-A-Mole celebration
cremate me and scatter the ashes
in some pleasant meadow
where i may luxuriate in bathing
in the Bose-Einstein condensation
as the sun rises with the solar wind
perchance an ash lights upon a blossom
a bee gathers pollen
i cling to its toil and escape in flight
hither and dither on the hives path
let me spend a full moon
in silvery shadows that dance
amidst the mockingbirds' song of the night
or rejoice in a tempest roaring
as the trees dance in God's metronome
His power dancing across the sky
in a glorious burst of light
please a meadow of promised halcyon days
where the mortal is scattered in gratitude
of what was so miraculous
to touch, to see, to taste, to smell
blessed with the senses
yet the grandest of them all
for i was given an entitlement
graced with the gift to love
in that first breath was my eternity
when the sun runs dry and expands
all have perished at Jupiter's gates
let my mortal existence return
from which it sprang
the fruition of that breath is home
where space and time harbor no path
where it was commanded
let there be light

This Too Shall Pass

Sometimes I feel this urge
When my thoughts and feelings merge
The depth of the pain is inexplicable
I try to bring all my worries to the table
Each and every layer I unwrap
But I can find no way out of this trap
I think it’s going to always be there
I just have to learn to not care
Life is going to bring you lots of ups and downs
After each storm learn to straighten your crown
Don’t let anything destroy your mental peace
“This too shall pass” , and your troubles shall cease.

'pardon Me, Could You Pass the Grey Poupon'

Winds caressing fringes of
   her deep chocolate tresses
as tree nymphs nimbly hid
  midst fallen maple leaves
    happily prancing round toes,
whilst a crescendo of chimes
   played off in near distances,
warm apple pie aroma wafting
upon a zephyr tickling her nose,
unfastened her reddish cloak
  for her e'er plunging neckline
exposed an ample décolletage
 voluptuously heaving in broad
daylight waiting to seduce a crafty
wolf in sheep's clothing she had afore
encountered on the way to grannies,
called ahead to make reservations
for her & handsome knighted chef
hiding amidst the dark forest with
his trusty sharpened butcher knife,
had acquired Wolfgang Puck's
   wickedly-satisfying secret recipe
        for savory pack-of-wolves stew

Hall Pass

Had a room been open in that passageway
as a foreign night-ship, you’d have sailed by
Love would’ve been what? I couldn’t say
Life: an inveterate humid ply____________

Perhaps has passed with its pernicious waves
Acceptance rising like ocean’s eustacy
Sometimes, perfunctory was a skin-cut shave
So much more, was propitious ecstasy~~~~~

Parts of us shall never be contrite
As connoisseurs of our own fate, we played
Rage now mostly contrived in dying spite
though candid caustic thoughts can still prey…

Passion!
Our ultimate perfidy
Passion!
We should've kept astute custody.

Having guided a young man through a tough time in life
It came time for him to move on;
Before he left he shook my hand, and said:
“I want to thank you for helping me along.”

“But how can I possibly give back to you
All the things that you have given to me?
How can I ever come close to repaying you;
It seems to be an impossibility."

I looked him straight in the eyes and said;
"Son, it’s your future I am looking toward,
The best way for paying me back
Is to pass my help along forward.

Take the things you learned from me
And pass them to your friends.
Take the love that I gave you
And pass it on once again.

Pass the encouragement,
Pass the support,
Take all the trust
And pass it on forth.

Never forget that you can’t give back,
But you can always pass things ahead,
And that way, the gifts I gave you
Will live on way after I’m dead.”

" Time is the thief you can not banish "
Phyllis McGinley, writer 1905-1978

In the silence found in a burning sunset, I count the years
which have passed filled with wondrous wonders
that endlessly reveal themselves
like trembling birds hidden in the gray ashes
of my mind's burnt fires from yesterdays

In the evening's calm, they begin to glide
with shaded wings, floating on a fleeting horizon
of tender memories above a mind's meadows
  filled with shadowed images
moving away leaving imprints of fallen grass
   which grow ever distant

Like a kite tethered to my passing years
they dance on memory's winds
twisting and turning while pulling away
to become a distant star of light remembered
found in the darkness of spent wishes and dreams

It's where a mirror slowly spins between the shadows
covered in every tear that has fallen
    in search of life's laughter
now wrapped around the gray wrinkled skin of my flesh
woven into a coat worn by my soul

Alone, remembering yesterdays, I watch the sunset
before my darkness falls to bring silent eternal sleep
   I wonder
if every memory was real or imagined

Knowing everything dies I whisper the words
" My God Life was Beautiful "

Pass the Salt, Please

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it
be salted? It is henceforth cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Matthew
5:13 KJV

In ancient history, salt was sought and bartered. In some places it was carried by
camels across scorching deserts such as in West Africa where eager merchants
traded it to waiting customers. Salt was used for money in some places, thus giving
us the word salary.
Today salt is used for many purposes, stocked in grocery stores, and is available on
virtually every table.
We use it medicinally, and blocks of salt satisfy cattle’s craving. Salt in water raises
the boiling point, yet salt melts ice. Put salt on meat and it preserves it. Leave salt
off the table and your appetite leaves with it. But too much salt is harmful. It makes
your feet and legs swell and too much is hard on the heart.
Examine one grain of salt under a microscope and note its cube shape. Its sides
are made of two elements, sodium and chlorine. These combine to form sodium
chloride – salt.

Imagine soldiers in a tug of war. An ion of chlorine glares from one corner at a
sodium ion guarding the opposite side. As crystallization occurs the chlorine wins in
the stare-down. Sodium surrenders its single valence electron to chlorine and
together they become sodium chloride. Consider it in verse:

Salty Sentinels

Sodium ions stable,
assembled on the table,
salivating palates crave.
Chlorine ions tiny,
mustering soldiers briny,
guarding corners brave.
Sodium chlorine making,
crystal shakers shaking
cubes so salty white.
Ever fighting blandness;
vectors adding grandness,
enhance the appetite!

There is no wonder Jesus used salt as an example to the disciples in his Sermon on
the Mount. He exhorts Christians to have salt in themselves and have peace with
one another. See Mark 9:50

Premium Member Pass Over the Nian

Gung Hay Fat Choy, black and white it seems
Oh, it is nothing but Happy New year in Chinese
Call it Lantern festival, pleasant spring festival
Celebrations of 15 days, each one ritualized.
Celebrate, the freedom from that beast Nian
Who swallowed humans in a single bite,
Scare him away with crackers and red color
On this day of GuNian, “ Pass over the Nian”

Offer prayers, to the ancestors and all Gods
Feed the Dogs well as it is dogs’ birthday
Visit friends and relatives to pay respects
Prepare drinks from vegetables, eat noodles
Fish for long life and success in life.
Hang colorful lanterns, eat glutinous rice balls
Enjoy with family welcoming the New Year.

We Pass Each Other

He approaches fast

We bump - silly heart beats wildly
Him - lost in thought- No word of apology
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Eyes so blue - elicits soundless sighs
He stares - out into distant skies
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Sensual lips - beg a moonlight kiss
A dropped beat- my heart does miss
We pass each other

He approaches fast

New day dawns - new courage found
Courage flees - from lips no sound
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Gold tipped streaks - on hair of brown
He neither smiles - nor does he frown
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Hint of down - on a manly chin
Imagining stroking it - I hide a grin
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Convinced he’ll smile - eye contact meet
He hurries by - I concede defeat
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Smile he does - chatting on the phone
Pangs of hurt - He’s not alone
We pass each other

He approaches fast
I hurry on - with eyes downcast
A bump I feel - and look aghast
I look into the bluest eyes
My heart it stops
I groan
I die

A quizzical smile plays on his lips
Oh beating heart that soars and dips
And so this moment I shall seize
Forever in my memory freeze

We stand and grin- no words to utter
Still ----We don’t pass each other

Footnote:
School over and kids thronged a mall, where I sat sipping my coffee in a café. I couldn’t help overhearing some high school girls, loudly talking about their teenage crushes which prompted me to write this amusing poem. I’m sure parents of teenage girls the world over will undeniably identify with. Oh!! And of course Taylor Swift was one of their favourite singers.

Thaw At Crowsnest Pass

THAW AT CROWSNEST PASS

Huge mountains massed and cliffs sheer. It’s March
And endless blue sky cold is held back by the Chinook arch,
Snowy prairies rolling into their thousand-mile realm -
The landscape is gigantic, majestic, orchestrated to overwhelm.

But I stand and watch the lake-ice thaw,
Surprised by the tiny delicate music -
Descant ice - jingling, jangling, tinkling
In delicate accompaniment to the giant symphony.
Ice chunks tangled in slow waves with the wind
Tiny tintinnabulation before total ablation.
There is silence and harmony around the sound,
The small melody of the ice breaking into spring’s chorus.

Note: Crowsnest Pass is the southernmost way through the Rocky Mountains in Canada

Premium Member As Seasons Pass

As seasons pass
new reflections are cast upon their still waters
another petal falls...another ripple crosses
both drifting away, vanquished by darkness

in the silence that's left, truth is found
revealing itself between earth and sky
a prisoner held close, to testify
for every day of every year
the heart has kept in memory

where time captures each line
cut into the face
the price paid for joyous moments
and anguished struggles
as we moved from season to season
holding on to people and places
long gone...if ever they were at all

each season of each year brings a new mirror
as the distant days of yesterday fade away
like the ripples from each fallen petal
without thought or concern, searching for something
finding inevitability
