This Too Shall Pass
They say, "This to shall pass", so will my life
This trauma more than just a moment's strife
My heart has scarred from pain it has sustained
And though the storm has passed, I'm withered, drained
"This too pass" so will my innocence
My soul is famished without sustenance
What will not pass is burden of this grief
That masquerades as guest though cruel theif
"This too shall pass": no solace for my pain
It's haunting echos howl in blinding rain
I can not see the hint of dawning light
This adage mocks my soul in dead of night
"This too shall pass" and leave me without soul
It's gruesome passing left a heavy toll
I am alive or am I, who can tell?
Dumbfounded, here I stand at gates of hell
"This too shall pass," I hear angelic voice.
"Don't end it now, but make the better choice
To live in hope and overcome your fears
For now rest in my arms, I'll wipe your tears."
I held on tight, immersed in sweetest bliss
The comfort that he gave was heaven's kiss
"This too shall pass," I mused, "but life remains
My will to live it all is what prevails."
