Hall Pass

Had a room been open in that passageway as a foreign night-ship, you’d have sailed by Love would’ve been what? I couldn’t say Life: an inveterate humid ply____________ Perhaps has passed with its pernicious waves Acceptance rising like ocean’s eustacy Sometimes, perfunctory was a skin-cut shave So much more, was propitious ecstasy~~~~~ Parts of us shall never be contrite As connoisseurs of our own fate, we played Rage now mostly contrived in dying spite though candid caustic thoughts can still prey… Passion! Our ultimate perfidy Passion! We should've kept astute custody. 6/29/2021

You already know that I think your write is wonderful apart from exceptional. But if you don't, yes it is great, brilliant phraseology. Congratulations on your win, well deserved.

I have yet to try my hand at sonnet, to be honest my squirrelly brain can’t usually get through reading them, but THIS is a gem. Good luck in the contest, a winner for me! xomo

Is this for the contemporary sonnet contest. Only you could do one like this!! I remain clueless on how to make one this contemporary!!

Yes. I read a few examples online then decided this would be how I'd do it :)

I've not had much time lately to catch up on the reading, but I am pleased that I could read this gem. I am a sucker for sonnets and you have knocked all the staid and pretentious ballyhoo right into the left field and dragged it screaming and protesting into the light. Loved every line of it. :)) FAVing it!

I'm floating above cloud nine somewhere now with the queen of forms faving my sonnet - I really was kinda nervous about it too cos it's a form I've struggled with...Oh, I know you haven't had time as I see you've been writing a lot of forms I never saw on PS before - I am still too overwhelmed to comment but I shall be when I have absorbed some of them! Thank you very much :)

At first glance, I agree; why the need for contemporization in the first place.. but then, why not? Your poem beautifully brings the sonnet out of the middle ages and into modern times with brilliant contemporary artistry and flair without sacrificing depth, imagery and emotion. BTW the status is not imaginary :))

oh that imaginary status?! lol I am relieved my fave Susan loves the write as I had reservations about what a contemporary sonnet was and after reading some examples, wondered even more why the need for contemporization in the first place hehe...thank you very much :)

Remarkable! Your sonnet lines are laser like. I especially appreciate the alliteration: ."..candid caustic thoughts can still prey." So true + insightful. That muse of yours is in full flight. All the best, Brian
