Red Hot Moon

It's there.....
There .....in the sky
Looking like
A bowl of rhubarb and custard

The fiery glow it emits
Looking like a giant fireball.....
Ready...to descend to earth
the moon in all its glory.

What does it mean?
Denoting spring is on its way
Or goodbye winter ....
Here's hoping the sun will shine as brightly.

It is lighting up the earth
Capturing it ...saying I can do anything
Make you look so different ...
Make you overheat and fry.

Why is it so red?
Has it gathered up the volcanic dust
As it passes through the atmosphere .
Like a pearl in an oyster,...to release a round jewel

Brings a smile to our faces
A warmth to our hearts
A soul all aglow .....
The red moon captures all

*For Matt's How to Build a Spaceship Contest

How do we create an airship that soars?
The answer was Roswell’s, but it could be yours

Make the long trek to Area 51
To find secrets that lie beyond our sun

Use a metal that is lighter than tin foil
Load the fuel tank with something cheaper than oil

Beam us up, Scotty, to the Enterprise
And view technology through a Vulcan’s eyes

Defrost Walt Disney’s cryogenic brain
To help us design the computer’s mainframe

Call Mulder and Scully out of retirement
Their UFO knowledge is alien-sent

Be sure to use tiles that don’t overheat
Like those that cast Challenger down to defeat

Let’s add Stephen King to the construction crew
If “Christine” could talk, our spaceship should too

Then let’s send the tab for NASA to pay
What happened to our space program bucks anyway?

Now we can blast Congress into outer space
For the lot in D.C., there’s no better place

Premium Member Polar Bear, I Am

I'm a polar bear, just that.
          Don't ever call me bi-polar
or I'll angrily maul you to death!

            Take a good look at me;
             I'm a hulking menace.
        Don't let my elephantine size
        fool you. I'm surprisingly agile;
           fast enough to chase down
                    an Arctic fox!

        I'm a formidable apex predator
and wanderer of the North Pole.
             When you don't see me,
           I'm probably in hibernation.
             My hunger is unslakable.
I can eat up to 10%...

of my bodyweight in 30 minutes!
My dense coat and body fat
insulate me so warmly that I...
        sometimes overheat in summer.
When I do, I cool down by
          plunging into the ice-cold sea.

Did I mention I can stand and
fight on my hind legs? I'm like the
     energizer-bunny; incessantly mobile,
       roaming hundreds of miles across
             the barren Arctic tundra
in search of seals and fish.

              I'm all dressed in white;
     the snowbank, the perfect camouflage
for me to suddenly sneak up on a prey.
Invade my frozen kingdom at your peril.
I rule the arctic wastes like the king lion
                  rules the Serengeti!

Love Or Chocolate

Why would I want to be in love?
It makes you sweat, overheat,
And hyperventilate.
It creates major heart issues
That stay with you for years.
It costs too much money
When you try to keep it with you.

But why would I want to be in love
When I could have chocolate?

Why would I want chocolate?
It makes you feel wonderful
And stimulates happiness.
It creates an environment of relaxation
That will get you through the day.
It costs only one dollar and
Stays with you for as long as you want.

So, why would I want to be in love,
When I could have chocolate?

Reflection

There has been more advance in the last hundred years
than in centuries. At first they seemed wondrous, a
miracle as they helped us in multiple ways and most
eased our lives to some degree or another.

Yet all this technology and industry has come at a
horrendous cost to our planet putting it and us in
grave peril from pollutants that threaten to smother
us and our world to overheat and life as we now know
it to cease to exist.

It makes me wonder if we had known this would start
happening if we would have done things differently?
Sadly I think the answer is a resounding no! There
are many things that could and should be done but
governments and people are slow to respond caring far
more about their wallets.

We are lucky to have this wake-up call, it is time
to use it wisely. First we must stop the desecration
turning where possible to clean resources like wind
and water to supply our electricity. Petrol should also
be phased out along with oil we have other resources
that would be much kinder. I know, I know I hear you
shout codswallop!

But reflect a moment apart from your wallet which
you cannot take with you would it really cause you
stress or hardship? By cleaning up our act we would
be assuring the future of our planet and Not leaving
this mess for future generations to suffer and cope with
If there is anything left that is!

Nature is trying to warn us just stop a moment and
REFLECT. Think of all the natural disasters that have been
happening for the last 40 - 60 odd years and how much
more frequent they are and so much more violent than
in the past and I think the choices are clear.

Industrial-Revolution

During the United States’ industrial revolution,
Eli Whitney invented interchangeable parts;
Identical components that could be substituted one for another.

This creation was made for machine—
weapons
cars
and other mechanical mysteries.
This isn't the case today.

Hips are interchangeable.
Legs are interchangeable.
Hands and fingers are interchangeable.
Hearts are interchangeable.
Now, not only with man,
but also with machine.

I can’t imagine it will be long before
software updates are reprogramming us,
instead of the devices we hold in our hands.
That we electrocute when wet,
and overheat when used for a long duration of time.
That we can recharge by cord
and turn on and off with the simple click of a button.

A small advancement, interchangeable parts were,
yet they contributed to further blurring the lines
between man and machine.

The Literature of Trepidation

Upon the paper the pen bleeds, casting its sullen gaze upon the ideals of its mere existence. Trying to unravel the mystery of its being. Uncovering the wisdom locked inside of its core, threatening to overheat and cause a meltdown the pen cannot overcome.
In times of raw emotional imbalance a window of understanding illuminates the veil of protection our ideals protect us from. Seeing its truth can undo the thin fabric of wisdom sought, making all for naught. Letting the art consume you until nothing remains.

The Redneck and His Truck

He quickly jumped into the driver’s seat.
Off he sped, there’d be no retreat.
With no place in particular to go,
He simply had a new truck to show.

Many months he had waited for this day
Now this work day he’d put away.
To stay inside and from his passion hide
Was a thing in which he would not abide.

An old junker he had traded in,
A new adventure he was about to begin.
Since all his buddies each had one,
Now it was his turn to join the fun.

Though not brand new was this truck
It sure beat that old pile of junk.
Even though it would often overheat,
It still to him was hard to beat.

The tires were worn and pretty slick,
When he’d drive by they’d call him “hick.”
The oil leaked through, the muffler was gone,
He sometimes wondered if he’d make it back home.

As he drove through town he’d swell with pride,
Many of his buddies would want to ride.
Yes, life now to him was very good ,
Even though much time he’d spend under the hood.

Madness.....

Nausea overwhelming.
     Hands desperately grasping my pen.
Body trembling trying not to overheat.
Mind blaring, eye's burning from unshed tears.
My heart ready to leap from my chest and make a run for it.
Here I stand frozen, lost in Woderland.
Two doors in front of me but which one do I choose?
What Do I DO!? What should I do...?
All eyes fixed on me, ready for judgement.
Win or lose? What will she do?
What will she choose?
Insane, sanity presented to me with a cup of tea.
One lump or two and would you like cream with your confusion?
Time frozen inside as the world continues to fly by.
Boggled and Tangled, Torn and Bleeding, Lost in the Land of the Great Unknown.
Silent whispers accuse, haunting my every move as noone's lips move.
Shallow breathing and exhaustion.
Lost in painful conflict unsure of what to do.
Right or left, red or blue, this path or that either way I shall pay my dues...
Tangled in this trickey web, lives and love continue surrounding me.
Everyone talks but noone hears.
You may know me but do you see me,
and you may see me but do you know me?
What do you see, what do you know?
What should I do... What will I do?

Wasn'T Nothing Major

The first person shooter
did video confess:

It was just a little bang bang,
no big deal ... wasn’t nothing major at all

Minor beef got some onions grilled,
cheap talk had turned dirt ill
And when the rumors started to spin,
volcanic tempers got lit
by the lava vapors rivals were spitting
Burning rubber then did the talking

In a simmering pace,
he gunned the motor ... bodies flew
left and right
Terror death mask
wore a frozen, frightened face

The exhaust did a little bang bang,
nothing major to sweat ... just a little drunken rage
behind the steering wheel
Luckily, very few bystanders got killed

Took a momentary brake,
cuz a smoke break is always calm-y good
Can’t overheat the radiator —
make you have to stop, and pop the hood

But his hot anger was on a nitro move,
it just wouldn’t standstill
Tiger on a prowl ... fool went and rattled the cage
So he rolled fast and furious to the kill

Went and did a little bang bang,
it wasn’t no major world war production
Did a couple trigger pulls,
ended the cold air breathing thang

The body count
was a bit above minimum ...
but accidents happen,
he surmised

He was caught cuz he got cocky —
Did a little talk to the dead body
Told the fade-to-black eyes,
he blood wet the bed
when he got a bullet pillow kiss
to his bulbous head

It was just a little bang bang,
no major killing damage was done
‘Specially seeing how,
T1's a human Terminator with a gun

He and Lucy Luger
had a little bang bang conversation,
to coffin shut the mouth of a big talker

That’s the long-winded version
from the first person
who drew the short straw

Then went and did a little bang bang

First, he drunk whiskey deep —
took long gulps from the short cups
Lastly, he fell into a zombie sleep,
went and spilled some mixed blood ...
guilty and innocent
In a race with the devil,
his trigger hand
was indiscriminately hellbent

He did a little firecracker bang bang ...
it was no big deal,
wasn’t nothing major at all

He gave a little Roman candle
ratpack payback,
for the missing member of the T gang

Youve Got Me Going

Well and it's just like you did
start up an old, old car now
you've got my motor running
bout to overheat, ‘bout to blow
a fuse, bout to throw a spark
you're driving me wild down
romance street oh yeah baby
YOU'VE GOT ME GOING
Well and just like flying a
World war 2 airplane
straight up into a big blue
sky oh and I'm about to
flip a gage, tripping on a high
oh yeah baby YOU'VE GOT
GOT ME GOING...
Well and just like an old
and forgotten steam engine
you've got my whistle blowin'
bout to jump track, bout to
blow my stack, rockin’ and
rollin' on down the railway of
love...
Well oh yeah baby YOU'VE
GOT ME GOING, YOU’VE GOT
ME GOING, GOING, GOING
GONE!

Kiss

Wind blowing in my hair
The breeze gently caresses my body
I feel as if I’m not here
My body feels weak
My knees are shaking
The intensity I feel
Is making
Me vulnerable
To uncontrollable
Movements
As my right leg goes up
No longer acquainted with resistance
I’m in non-existence
With myself
Love has taken over
I’m drawn in by its power
The strength from it
I let it devour
My mind, body, and soul
Entangled in a web of desire
I feel the fire
The flames burn higher and higher
I start to overheat
I’m weak
But I yearn for more
Of this piercing sensation
Your body pressed against mine
My heart is racing
Trying to catch up to your love
So much, so fast
Each one better than the last
For future time and generations past
Nothing beats the timelessness of a great
Kiss.

Shallows and Deep

7/9/17

Whether or not I ever find what I seek

You are what you eat

Bare foot or with shoes on your feet

You can try, but it'll do no good turning the other cheek

Nights of very little rest or a great sleep

Fields full of wheat
And beets

A rise of temperature causing lifeforms to overheat

You either still got or lost the receipt

Bouts of consecutive victories and defeat

On dirt roads and in the street

In the shallows and deep

On the move or taking a seat

Daily, monthly, yearly and every single week

Some foods that are spicy and sweet

The evidence was or wasn't concrete

Tasks didn't get finished or were complete

Many that just eat greens or meat

On either side of the creek

Far too many that are a fraud and a cheat

Towards them karma and havoc will wreak

Near and far from teak

Regardless of if the terrain is flat or steep

Information kept discrete or getting leaked

Resources that are rich or beginning to deplete

Hyphenated Hyperventilating

Talking heads
will give you their attached credentials
with solemn aplomb

And it’s plenty hyphen proof long

They’ll make unlearned eyes gasp
at their hyped expertise

Get simpler minds to hyperventilate,
as their lower rack thoughts
common sense overheat

Everyday, mundane pondering
takes a kid table backseat

The babble bobble heads,
with the apron string tongues,
love speaking
upper shelf kitchen cabinet highbrow kitsch

Momma says, the couch potato heads
are always angle offering a self-serving dish

Cooking up pretentious phrases,
their broasted chest stuffings
puffs a lot of jive-turkey bleats

It all sounds ear tasty good ...
got a delicious soul flavor in theory
A tone semi-sweet savor
worth artichoke heart half hearing

Daddy says, the air bubble heads
always got a shrink-wrap blurb tidbit wish

But you gotta stay tuned-in
to the next programmed “must-see” video lip-clip

Don’t let the hyphen-attachments
first guest hook you
Let not your legitimate doubts
be second guess fooled

Talking heads will always
try to tinted glass blow smooth,
make you go-getter move

Get your temper ta-ta’s
to shimmy-shuffle to the hum-drum groove
of the bad hair forecast blues

Calmly gather your lung precious thoughts,
allow the hyperventilating to cease

Supremely, thinking serenely for yourself
is a television ratings cable disease
