Best Ourselves Poems
You know what you achieve by criticizing??????????
Nothing
Its merely fodder for the sad
In order to make themselves feel better
But do you know what can be achieved??????????
When the subject is encouraged
Anything
You know the subject actually even gets better
But that is sadly not the way we work
We do not want people to get better
Its the way we justify ourselves.
If we look in the mirror
What do we see
If we look behind us
Is it other than thee
If we do a wrong
Does it make it right
If we apologise
Does it change our sight
To all who have done wrong
Raise your hands
If not here
In other lands
There is many a crime
So hideous and wrong
But to do wrong once
We sing that same song
Its the level of wrong
That we distinguish to discuss
The misdemeanour
And the out and out cuss
Others will recover
A different path they will follow
Others will re-offend
It's their bitter pill, they will swallow
So there comes a time
To judge some less
Allow their reunion
Their second test

A young man at thirty one
Allow him this chance
His new life has began
Look back on this day
As we look at ourselves
How many off us, could have been
Left on a shelf

Spiritual visions are gifted not to just a select few
May the warm glow embrace us in calm sincere rapture
Allow not dogma guide us toward an elusive grand view
Or a truer and lusher emerald pasture
By grace, our inner sanctum ignites in a blaze
leaving all judgements behind to gather dust on the shelf
The experience serves to enlighten and amaze
It's best to keep our visions to ourselves
Let us, my friends,
transform our hearts into a bountiful garden
where
kindness and love bloom
so as
to enable our souls to be at peace with God
and
with our fellow man!

We Have Only Ourselves To Blame
The way we live now seems barely the same,
Enduring one ecological disaster after another.
It’s obvious we have only ourselves to blame
For changing the climate and the weather.
Enduring one ecological disaster after another:
Rampant forest fires, pollution, desertification.
For changing the climate and the weather -
Too much industrialization and deforestation!
Rampant forest fires, pollution, desertification…
Species extinction from loss of natural habitats;
Too much industrialization and deforestation!
We’re destroying everything, everywhere, like spoiled brats.
Species extinction from loss of natural habitats???
It’s obvious we have only ourselves to blame!
We’re destroying everything, everywhere, like spoiled brats.
The way we live now seems barely the same.
In this life time
I met many people
In all walks of life
Some were funny
And some were boring
However when I changed my focus
I have had chosen to glimpsed
And talked with
A wonderful person as you
As our words rippled
In our hearts and minds
Somewhat indeed I felt inside
And I realized myself
Resonated everything in you
Laughs, cries, sighs and amazement
Created imprints in our souls
That someday they shall
Magnify as we grow.
Some people say that God does not exist
Because they cannot see his face or hold
His hand. The denial of the atheists,
The Godless ones, should make our blood run cold.
We see the face of God in lightning storms
And recognize his touch in rainbows bright.
The mountains echo his majestic form;
His presence comforts us in darkest night.
We see his teaching in the flowers that grow
And know his truth in every spark of life.
In every laughing child his pleasure shows;
His promise is our strength in times of strife.
The only ones who would Himself refuse
Are those who will not live within his rules.
To See Ourselves As Others See Us
By Elton Camp
What we’re like we may think we know
Others very well might not agree, though
For in my mirror I see a kindly old goat
But others a different conclusion may note
Then there’s Sue who thinks she’s a looker
Perhaps others say, “Hey, there goes a hooker.”
Teenage Bob considers himself a laid-back dude
While others may find him foul-mouthed & rude
The candidate thinks that he is sure to be elected
The public may have his grievous faults detected
The country singer is certain that her voice is grand
But to the cultured ear, it may be too hard to stand
The professor may believe that his lectures are clear
But students may warn others never to come near
The waitress seems to believe that her service is great
The customers, to sit at her tables, may intensely hate
If others’ views we could somehow come to see
From many a foolish conceit it might set us free
Wayward, frolic into left wings
That which brings me different
Wave of introspection
Putting myself into harm’s way
If I stay where I’m at
I could become nothing
But I desire to be more than
So I harvest a new timeline
Belonging to myself only
But truth be known
It’s just a left wing
Nut job of a thought
To be free within this world
Where we could live left(…)
To our own devices
And to please ourselves
But only by the expense
Of ourselves is truly a thought
That can’t become true
There are always others
That protrude into our life
Allowing us to feel
A powerful being of love
Whenever we need this
From being so lost within
Ourselves, we think that we can
Do it all by our own devices
But we can’t
We aren’t created to be alone
We must have companionship
And friendship
We must have this bond
That will never separate
And that which makes us feel
That we belong in this world
For a purpose, other than ourselves

Surviving Ourselves
by Odin Roark
Blame game trollops
Cruise our insides
Willing to plant more guilt
Defying accountability
To take a stand
Conscience-bots
Perform recon
Patrolling vulnerabilities
Knowing no man’s land
Between heart and mind
Have always
Will always
Be pregnable passage
Yet
The front lines of the heart
Grasp one’s dug in fortification
Mind’s fortress of strength
Is forever monitoring
Why then
Knowing we create our own reality
Do we need such skirmishes
Such oft times escalated guilt trips
That do nothing
But undermine life’s victory?
Might it be…
We refuse to accept
The “out there” version
That much touted
Societal mirage
Promoting illusion over truth
Perchance
We are stuck
Forever creating
Our trial and error reality
For fear
Of succumbing to elitist delusion
And if we’ve created
Conscience-bots
And blame game trollops
Aren’t we better armed?
Don’t personally created battle fields
Serve to strategize
To outmaneuver those
Who would have us self-destruct
Their way?
Perhaps our self-imposed reality
Doesn’t make the societal mirage any easier
But at least it doesn’t abandon
Growing consciousness for
Surviving ourselves
I am the eyes of the poor
Hungry and searching for more
They look on in awe
Of the wonders of beauty that surrounds them
But fails to embrace
I would give what I had
To make the feeling of worth come back
And the eyes shine
Once again
But giving material possessions
Would only help for awhile
To teach something new
Get a spark and a smile
And loving the intricate style
That makes us all individually unique
So I speak with compassion and say
In humanity there's got to be a way
To get past the human condition
And give all of ourselves
author note:
I went to 3 major cities, in 6 monthes time. I guess I was looking to appreciate what I had.
I have done alot of work with homelessness in the United States, so, I became that way myself.
My second month there, a man gave me a ride to the newspaper office where I was doing a little freelance. We talked along the way. It was nice since that day I was carrying my briefcase (that is my portfolio) weighing atleast 20 pounds.
He said that he had a son, that was into art. He wants to be a writer also. He asked if there was any advice that I could give. I smiled and said well, I would keep a regular job. If there's anything he is interested in, I'd have him do that, but if he keeps going back to writing, and he cannot quit. If it inspires him, makes him happy and that becomes his career. You'll know.
All writers I know are kind of different in one respect or another.
He began to laugh.
This verse may just be a few simple words, but they are penned from my gut.
It would have been nice to just sit and drink tea, for crying out loud, with a fellow writer that I dearly love with ALL of my heart and soul. Life...just gotta live it.
Ourselves
The world is filled with temptation.
The heart is filled with desires.
The eye’s is filled with it own truth.
The mind is on the breaking point of sane and insanity.
We are only human.
We are only creatures, neither light nor dark.
We are only ourselves.
Some wear mask to defeat others.
Some wear mask to defeat themselves.
Some wear mask to hide who they really are.
Here is the point where we must decide in our life where we stand.
For trust and love and kinship of your blood will be tested.
First was the temptation.
Then it sets with desires.
Afterwards either the truth or lies are spun.
And to the last who shall stand brave or break under the weight.
We speak of truth when behind us is nothing but woven lies, and hearts full of deceit.
Can you not see the hypocrite side of us?
Ha! It wounds me to known this, even more that I am one of those.
Take heed and resist or be forgotten with all others.
For in this life there is only good or evil, light and darkness, the possible and impossible.
Such is us.
Such is you.
Such is me.
Our world is filled with temptation.
Our hearts is filled with desires.
Our eye’s is filled with what we wish to see.
Our mind’s is filled with things that can make and break us.
You foolish boy!
What have you done!
Come son, come!
Cast out yourself,
‘cause it’s the demon
that’s goin' ruin you.
Child, get that big black bible;
the King James Version is better
‘cause it’s written in the old tongue.
Read boy, read!
Read a Psalm,
and ask God to help you.
Spill your guts to God boy;
don’t bottle in the devil.
Those demonic lies,
that come from your lips,
cause heavens to close their eyes.
You cause me so much pain boy,
even at your birth.
Come on, read!
Maybe someone curse that very day
I brought you to this earth.
Read yourself a new life.
Ask the father for new hands,
so you won’t steal again.
Ask him for a heart and a new brain,
so you won’t remember.
Pray son!
Pray, according to God’s will.
Let that foul spirit go.
Ask God for amnesty
for the innocence you kill.
Go wash the curse from your pores child;
use the oil the chaplain gave you.
It's goin' be alright,
everything is goin' be alright.
Daylight goin' bring peace.
My heart exhales with delightful ease.
the morning will bring some peace,
the morning will bring me peace.
As the days grow shorter and the nights have more length,
We have more time to ponder on God and receive more of His strength.
To pick up the pace where once we were slack,
And to know it is into God’s arms we can always fall back.
To find more refuge, to find more reason,
And to know that our Father is there, no matter the season.
To search out our heart so that it can be a humble abode,
To receive and contain the word our dear Savior once told.
And to lift up those who need a gentle lift,
And help to place them on the right road to receive Jesus, our greatest of gifts.
To teach that love is so much better than hate,
And sharing seems to add so much more to your plate.
What do we gain if we lose sight of heaven as our goal,
Earthly riches cannot buy hope for a lost and wandering soul.
Only love and obedience to the Word of God can our ticket be bought,
And knowing why our Savior came and died, so the reason of His spilling of blood will not
be for naught.
To live each day like it may be our last,
That not in sorrow but in gladness we await and always holdfast.
To serve our God with all the might we can muster,
And let His light shine through us with brilliance and luster.
