Best Notions Poems
Grounded by the gravity of our earth
Our body and spirit are often pulled
In opposite opposing directions in
Contention between visceral emotions
And logical, intellectual, left brain thought.
Too much of one may eviscerate the other.
A combination of both are needed to retain
Balance and a sense of inner sanctuary.
Poetry has the sensibilities to stir our
Emotions, to speak to body and spirit,
Melding our terrestrial selves with the divine.

Random thoughts flutter across a page
And take shape in verses of expression
Reflecting the notions of the poet/sage.
While the actor repeats upon the stage
Phrases acting out playwright’s impression
Random thoughts flutter across a page.
Both painting portraits of love and rage
In concise words, the writer’s profession,
Reflecting the notions of the poet/sage.
Visually the reader will absorb, engage,
Theatergoers easily observe the passion
Random thoughts flutter across a page.
Poets create images like a bird in a cage
Their poems coming in and out of fashion,
Reflecting the notions of the poet/sage.
The value of writers the public will gauge
Sometimes without the proper caution
Random thoughts flutter across a page
Reflecting the notions of the poet/sage.

Let me write poems for all our souls
With a pen in my hand …
Let me communicate all our words
With a pen in my hand …
Let me take all emotions and confuse them with my own.
Let me have all notions to tend until they have grown.
Let me cry for all our sakes
With a pen in my hand …
Let me pray for all tomorrows
With a pen in my hand …
Let me dare as I know best to distinguish all life's nettle.
Give me all of your unrest so each heart in turn may settle.
Laugh ~ burdens will become half
Frown ~ more muscles bring you down
Cry ~ sorrows flow from your eyes
Smile ~ adds beauty to your style
Stare ~ you're surprised unaware
Hug ~ warm love to keep you snug

People can claim all sorts of nonsense that love is unconditional, or should be. The bible itself does
not even make such a claim in the teachings of changing for God, changing to better man, changing
for oneself and changing to love another human being as properly called. Why does man feel that
something is owed to them when they have not proved their worthiness of love that is due? I am not
Jesus to just offer it like he does. Human beings need to be respected, loved and honored, and
showing some sort of courage for the human race.
I offer my love and tenderness openly to those who deserve it. That does not mean that I do not
care about their general well being or health, but I will not be made to feel guilty of lies being fed of
unconditional love that does not exist?
So your wife sits around and does not clean? Did you say "fine", let us live this way, who cares?
No, you did not. Conditions exist.
I will not buy into unconditional love, for even the bible rebukes such a fairy tale and pathetic
notion.
In the faraway kingdom of my imagination;
My land of make believe thrived on one Disney creation.
Join me here; you’ll never spend a more enchanting ev’ning.
Over there is Cendrillon. Step lightly. Hear her singing?
Terrible Lady Tremaine rules missy with the sweet voice;
Loving parents died apart leaving the maid with no choice.
Stepsisters waste their lives here…bungling, fumbling Drisilla
And big-toed Anastasia—so vile; so like their mamá.
Royal orders bid damzels here to heed the regal ball;
Prince Charming’s quest to find a wife would dawn after nightfall.
Grandeur turned the ugly heads of two secretly scheming
To wed the purple crowned prince who would one day be their king.
“Sweep the halls and flight of stairs”, Cendrillon’s stepmother snaps.
“Do the dishes, light the fire, bring us warm robes for our laps;
Wash the windows, dust the chairs, do the laundry, knead the dough.
Finish in time for the ball…find a gown and you can go.”
In my fairy tale castle one couple waltzing caught my eye.
“So this is love”, he was saying as they passed me by.
He swept her off her feet and new happiness stirred me too;
All I was wishing came true. The prince of my dreams is you.
“And they lived happily ever after.”

When harm smothers grace
Notions of mercy remain
Unheard by the soul
Unbelievable
Unique small noticeable notions
Of love just because this love
Love unimaginable undeniable
Unbearably how sane we be.
Are we? Unbreakable unmistakable
Unbridled unshakable love unashamed
Staining all walls all laws
Of hearts and art
Understandable unquenching thirst
For more unabbreviated
Substantial amorous demanding
Flammable never boring
Don't bore us
Settle in indelible friends
This love with a whisper of
Exaggeration left no page unturned
Bow to and kneel to this love
A ray of reverence to this love
Vow to this love
All attributes indowed in this love
Note worthy of a positive vote
Notice a noticeable love
Have you noticed
Fairly BOASTUROUSLY
BLOSSOMING WHAT MADNESS BE
Of this show of the art of love
Tonight I died Cold and lonely,
Caught between regret and peace.
Life hereafter for me will cease,
but not from existence;
Rather from cruel intentions,
inflected pain from a host of honorable mentions.
journeys of ascensions and descents into madness;
Surely they are my birth right.
For Fortnights I have contemplated,
Indecisive with the notion;
Poisoned by dreams and haunted by quotation.
The part of me that has passed shall no longer be mourned;
Goodbye dear self, hello dear scorned.
Form:
Painted were her eyes,
Somewhat azure and syphilitic, her heart;
And when I got home I realized,
I'd just fallen in love with a tart(!)
I sometimes wonder if a monk
Succumbs and sinks into a funk;
Since he is lacking normal *****,
Well, how is one to know?
The same for gurus – though they’re wise
When seen in solemn guru guise,
Perhaps they’d take us by surprise
Beneath the mistletoe.
And rocket scientists, so smart,
With so much knowledge to impart,
Quite possibly might fall apart
When playing tic-tac-toe.
For notions that are preconceived,
Despite what we have all believed,
Should from our psyches be retrieved
And given the heave-ho.
He's just a sewerage worker, he has no fancy notions
He doesn't like his job... he just goes through the motions.

I've these odd notions in my mind
oddball fancies like thread unwind
spooling strings of creative thought
stitch together the wacky lot
Loose ideas, patchwork pieces
smooth as silks (or fuzzy fleeces)
incoherent alone, single
yet together, mix and mingle
into quirky mosaic scene
so fresh and bright, and strangely keen
A crazy quilt of high ideals
imagination spins and reels
transporting me to places far
away from how things really are
and off to what might someday be
a better world, a better me...
Strong hands explore
The pure silk landscape
In gentle topography
Tracing her features
Beneath his fingers
Mapping her contours
Her sensual curvature
The undulating terrain
Soft mounds contrasted
By prominent peaks
Then across the flatness
Of the tremulous plain
Thru sparse coarse undergrowth
To the hot moist valley beyond
Strong hands explore
And as fingers probe
The pure silk landscape
Reforms beneath his touch
Sometimes folks get notions,
'Bout certain people, places, things,
And get the wrong impression,
From the feelings that they bring.
Without finding out for certain,
The impression that they got,
Was correct in the beginning,
They go off half cocked.
They hold forever grudges,
Make enemies, lose friends,
And clinging to false sense of pride,
Don't try to make amends.
It's the mind of the human being,
In this case that's to blame,
What goes on in your own mind,
Oft leads to pain and shame.
Some folks are so wrapped up in self,
That they see nothing else.
They never learn from their mistakes;
For they're caused by someone else.
This I've learned from watching,
Taking notes and keeping log.
The more I see of people,
The better I like my dogs.
