Best My Way Or The Highway Poems

My Vision

take a holiday from your perspective, don't you say?
it would help you to evolve past hey!
my way or the highway, as it only causes pain,
what happened to beauty?
maybe it never existed just shame,
covered up by the rights to exist, in vain!
none the less i love this vein of creativity,
that streams from my pain, as i realize it's all
a gain, of experiences with which to change
my pane, so my vision won't be so stained.

Bad Boss

He was egotistical
Like Napoleon
No longer a thorn for me
           On the day he said:
“It’s my way or the highway”
This new job has set me free

My way or the highway

Premium Member Alas, That It's Lost

In a bygone America the First Amendment
Was as sacred as a Biblical Commandment:

"I disagree with what you say,
But your right to say it,
I'll defend to the death"--
  Rang out the shibboleth.

Disagreements and disputes
  Were all the rage;
Discussion, debate, and discourse
  Took center-stage.

From Lincoln-Douglas down through Kennedy-Nixon,
  Our leaders warred
With eloquent words
  Instead of with swords...

...But now there's precious little freedom of speech,
Political corretness is what academies preach.
"Sexist," "Racist," "Fascist," they all screech;
'My way or the highway,' is what they teach.

'Twas a noble idea once,
  Was Freedom of speech:
Today observed less in the act
  Than in the breach.

Premium Member Sacred Forests

Sacred native forests
remain enraptured in souls
shadowing mysterious nature's silence.

Or when so deluged and brisk winded,
stormed to rage wild absence of restraint
overpowering more domesticated sounds of commodifying busyness,
diesel fueled 18-wheelers
carrying walky-talky caffeine flying drivers,
warning blares of commerce's trains
for those without bodies and brains
to move away from rumbling dust river of busy tracks.

Native forests
speak sacred wilderness power through all five senses.
I cannot see a sacred forest
singing I Did It My Way,
or My Way Or The HighWay
appropriate anthems in their less bird-songed place, yes,
but not sacred lusty psalms of organic notes
for and from native forests,
where sacred sights
sound naturally right
and smell absent of stinky busy fright,
and taste and feel recycling peace.

Pistol Princess

Only 4 years old and if looks could kill
Definetly different with a will of steel
Butting heads and not getting along
Sworn enemies in a little girls world
Better than Barbies
Claws out like cats
Battleground and Playgrounds
Strong willed and hardheaded
Little Princess is a pistol,
And she’s about to go off
Little Princess is a pistol
And she’s about to go off
Screeching like a banshee
Firecracker blowing her top
My way or the highway
Little Princess is a pistol,
And she’s about to go off

Premium Member Intuitive Guide To Ignorance

Here's my Invisible Rules Book,
I make them up as I go along.
Don't dare make me accountable,
I won't apologize as I'm never wrong.

I don't care if you're angry,
I really don't care what you think.
It's my Intuitive Guide to Ignorance,
It's invisible, it's not written in ink.

I will do as I see fit.
I'm a player and ladies man.
Don't ever question my intentions,
I will change the rules whenever I can.

It's my way or the highway,
Don't try to change my plans.
I live by my own set of rules,
Some say I'm arrogant and maybe I am.

So once again, here's my Invisible Rules Book,
Take it or leave it, it's up to you.
Get back to me with your answer,
If you don't like it, I'll find someone new.

These are the rules I live by,
If you comply, we'll get along.
So don't ever expect me to change,
And just remember, I'm never wrong.

The Favoured Son

The story of the devil
is the story of all men
we make mistakes
the favoured son

Given to much
the son becomes spoiled
believing everything
they say

We allow them
to get away with lies
the spoiled child
will twist the knife of hate

Thinking they above the rest
knowing you are in their pocket
they attack
knowing you will support their faults

There is only one way
My way or the highway
the child making demands
breaking toys

knowing you are blind to their faults
God favoured the devil
treated the devil as his favourite son
the devil came to believe

That he was better than God
the spoiled son
the favoured child
blind to their faults

we fail to punish their mistakes
we fail to push them to succeed
we put them above others
I watched as Jason refused to go to school

his Grand mother supported him
he was allowed to stay at home
other kids questioned his desire to play
when school was over

punching then his mother as support
punished the child that had been punched
Jason grew up to lie
the spoiled son

you do your child no favour
all people should be treated equal
and yet they're not
treated equal expecting fair they learn to share

the favoured son turned against God
thinking himself better he fought for power
you are not good enough he said
I should have the power

God created the Devil
God favoured the Devil
God believed in the Devil
only one hour before the fight began

We put our heart and soul
into caring for our children
and then within a heartbeat
their actions can change your life forever

Premium Member Santa For President

There is no doubt that Santa is in charge at this time of year
That green nemesis known as the Grinch his only job should be cleaning up after the reindeer
Maybe after Christmas, he may want to consider running for President, we surely know he can deliver
A man who produces peace and goodwill for all mankind I think we should all consider
If you see this as a fantasy have you checked the way our politicians have been acting lately
The constant chaos and fighting within our governments is certainly not stately
What presents have they left us under the tree , more of the same, higher taxes and a book to show you how nothing gets done
Look what Santa achieves with the help of those enchanting elves, who look like they are having fun
Our politicians need to read a book on how to compromise with each other
Both parties continue to play the same old song My Way Or The Highway but with two different results too numerous to cover
Politicians need to take an example from the man in the red suit, a person we all seem to be able to get behind
If you want my vote on election day put on a red suit ,It will help me make up my mind

Compromise
(in the early sixties)

Oft times I’ve faced those,
consumed with rage.
Sometimes I allowed myself,
to enter into that stage.

Compromising then,
 was such a massive load.
I thought “My way or the highway,
and you can pick the road”.

In those adolescent years,
I didn’t take others bunk.
Because in my minds eye,
I was “tougher than stewed skunk”

What another was thinking,
I gave scarcely a hoot,
Because the coffee I drank,
“would raise a blister on a boot”.

“Compromise makes a good umbrella,
but a poor roof”
James Russell Lowell

Too Many

I've been gone for a while, off to a lonely place.
Had to do some thinking, I needed some space.
Not sure if it helped make the man I wanted to create.
For I'm still unsure of who I was in the first place.
   I bend, but I don't break.
Attempts by the world's narcissists and ingrates.
I do know it's just no to anyone who wants to relate.
Too many backstabbers, too many two faced.
Too many gold diggers, too many real women, who turn out to be fake.
Too many disloyal, and untrustworthy who lie straight to your face.
Too many church worshippers on Sunday, but Monday to Saturday take break.
Too many know it alls, who knew nothing in the first place.
Too many family members who think water is thicker than blood, what a waste.
Too many friends, too many of them won't even show for your wake.
Too many racists spreading too much hate.
Too many police, killing too many men of the black race.
Too many jobs paying minimum wage.
Too many people say they got your back, too many front in too many ways.
Too many died from Covid, through too many days.
Too many laws restricting too many liberties.
Too many rich, too many poor, too many disparities.
Too many guns, too many drugs, too many std's.
Too many sins, too many going to hell eventually.
Too many times I've tried, getting back on this horse like a jockey.
Too many changes I've made, to suit too many emotional insecurities.
It's now my way or the highway, too many will no longer like me.
Too many evenings thinking about wether or not that matters to me.
Too many voices in my head saying fu€k the world, it's all about me.
If I keep going, too many pages i would need.
Too many more things, indeed.
And if you can't relate, your one of the too many, believe.

Hardheaded Or Headstrong
Miracle Man
7-29-2023

Mom often said Tommy, “you’re too hardheaded”,
I suppose I wasn’t sure just what those words meant.
From childhood these words were deeply embedded,
but I must have did things with no thought to relent.

Personality changes that came, didn’t take long,
As I grew into my twenties I always had my say.
So I continued being, a young man, headstrong,
many times it became, “my way or the highway”.

I took great pride in saying what others did refuse,
always being truthful and without hurtful intent.
I’ve never been reluctant in expressing personal views,
sometimes I’ve just sought an opportunity to vent.

Then came a day, with much of life being spent,
and I faced issues that I couldn’t handle alone.
Seeing Jesus’ face I knew I needed to repent,
so I made the decision that for my life I’d atone.

Ponderable Thoughts

Compromise is the bridge uniting pro and con
the man who utters, “my way or the highway”
Is exposed as narcissistic.
Tom

Many prolong taking action,
fearful of what the reaction might be.
Sometimes a reaction has been harsher,
than the action that gave it birth.
Tom

Faith was my first step,
toward my ultimate destination.
Tom

Man’s biggest fear lies not in what he knows,
but of things that lie beyond his grasp.
Tom

We’re all just visitor’s on earth,
with a temporary lease on things in our possession.
Tom

Thinking we have all the answers evidences our ignorance,
knowing the one who does displays our intelligence.
Tom

Life sometimes forces us to climb mountains,
it also allows us to enjoy the valleys.
