Best Meandering Poems
One spring day meandering in a meadow,
I saw a butterfly whose beauty matched that
of May's azure sky.
With blue silken wings like that of a fairy,
she flitted here and there -
aimlessly as butterflies seem wont to do.
Oh, to be that butterfly,
alighting on any pretty flower whose scent delighted me -
unhurried and unworried.
I would be that butterfly breezing through the meadow
meandering . . . meandering . . .
to where – I did not know,
but soon I found myself beside a brook.
My heart became the song of blue bells
which danced with the wind beside the brooklet.
And as my little friend fluttered on,
I careened behind her with arms outstretched,
laughing as the long grasses through which I leaped
tickled the calves and shins of my legs.
Soon I was approaching a grove of tall green trees -
meandering . . . meandering.
I kept my eyes on the bright blue wings ahead of me.
Freely I flowed like the wind that swept through my hair
as it fluttered the leaves of the tall green trees
until suddenly – the butterfly
was vanished from my view!
I knew not to where I’d wandered,
but in my heart I had no fear.
All things come to an end eventually,
but also all paths eventually lead
to somewhere.
Turning myself back toward the direction
from which I’d come
and with my arms spread wide,
I let the butterfly in me
take me eastward -
meandering . . meandering.

Meandering
a speechless glee
allowing the dust of purpose
a cleansing breath
shedding the garment of time
playing hide and seek
with your shadow
no past – no future
only lazy footsteps
guiding you
in a wanderer’s waltz

Meandering rivers, streams and burns
Zig zagging, flowing in contour turns
Sparkling waters as pure as can be
Flow through the glens and down to the seas
Much life is found in these translucent waters
Species of fish, and delightful otters
Along these rivers, streams and burns
Grow many grasses, trees and ferns
Varieties of greens in wonderment bloom
A most beautiful sight is natures front room
Her seasons dictate, the rise and the fall
The pictures she paints, delightfully enthrals
These graceful rivers, streams and burns
Lured us to settle, for beside the seas we yearned
Villages turned into towns, and towns into cities
For the lure of these waters, some murky some pretty
For all around the world, the patterns the same
These are just a few, the Thames, Ness and the Seine
Look after all waters as they are all our concern
Our meandering rivers, streams and burns

It is a beautiful spring day,
birds are singing their little hearts out.
I am rocking in my favorite rocking chair,
as a cool breeze covers me like a blanket.
What could get better than this,
I ask - as I sit and ponder?
"There's a river meandering through the mind,"
with many thoughts.
Thoughts are running wild,
like the river meandering around each rock.
About days of old and how it was,
days that are gone forever.
Guess we cannot get time back,
a river cannot get its water back once it's down stream.
Just like the river meandering away,
we are both stuck here in the present.
Oh how my mind looks to years past,
longing for the good old days.

A crystal vase, a bunch of withering Roses.
... it’s almost a week....
My friend congratulated me on publishing a book,
by bringing ravishing red flowers.
closed my eyes in a reverie ~ took the longest breath ~
inhaled the fragrance floating all around me ~ imbibed the radiance of the gleaming red ~ indulged in the memories of love ~
.....As long as I could.
Gradually those Roses losing their enchanting sheen,
Their unique lustre and hue diminishing,
Some dried, parched petals already hopelessly crumbled on the hard floor,
fading, shrivelling, drooping, descending.
My heart aching mournfully to see them decline and fall,
......Who can stop the inevitable!
One by one - those flowers will lose their shimmering petals,
only the stems remain reminding of the brilliant past,
in the end - they are painfully reminiscent of the decay of a sublime beauty,
ending up being cruelly discarded, crushed,
.....thrown away with little regard.
Life, a meandering river ~
full of possibilities, dreams infinite, also painful memories -
Wish we could hold on to the exuberant flavour of a fragile life,
An incense burns to exude aroma until only the ash remains...
Dreams don’t wilt....
But Happiness fades away before we know it!

Drifting in the vacuum, I see a sun rising
Pulled inexorably towards the event horizon
Infinity condenses into a single quark
Lighting the universe bathed in the dark
I see the charm of its strange, beautiful truth
Came up from the bottom; like a galactic baby tooth
The super symmetry of fundamental force
Has set us on an interminable course
The quantum mechanic can not fix our car
Because our neutrinos all have zero charge
So I guess we will hitchhike to the next star cluster
Led by a supernova and all its luster

Meandering stream of dreams,
That flows beside the old willow~
Where laughters of my childhood echo
Upon the river rocks of blue and yellow.
I throw a stone upon her bosom~
To see at least a tiny ripple,
Instead I see lilies blossom,
In the meandering stream of dreams.

Ah, to spend a languid summer afternoon on the bank of a rippling stream,
Lying on my back watching vagabond clouds as I reminisce and dream!
I hear the soothing sound of the water's hymn as it plays its merry tune,
Blending its musical melody with that of a meadowlark and loon!
Did you begin thy sea-bound odyssey in yon mountains as melting snow,
To form a rushing mountain stream, later to grace these verdant leas below?
Or, were thy banks filled with tears from Heaven by some distant tempest?
Whate'er your source, with thy simple majesty I am truly, truly blest!
Look! Even the beautiful rainbow trout leap with joy in a placid pool!
There! A doe and her delicate fawn sip thy life-sustaining waters so cool!
You have provided this mere mortal with much needed peace and rest,
Flowing so gently past me as thence you pursue thy meandering quest!

Meandering river,
Just passing us by,
Looking so blue,
While reflecting the sky.
Gently the flowing,
The trickle sounds small,
Louder the crashing,
Of the waterfall.
The sun on it glistens,
As it weans it’s way,
Creating the background,
For this sunny day.
Stones to be skimmed,
Many times will it bounce?
Just for fun really,
No win to announce.
Meandering on,
On its journey to sea,
The beautiful river,
That’s always set free.
Sometimes there’s boats,
On the river To view,
But just passing by’s,
For the water to do.
Meandering river,
I stare and I sigh,
You’re fresh and relaxing,
Meandering by.
So if the worlds mad,
Nothing quite in its place,
Just sit by the river,
A smile on your face.
Just stare at the river,
While sat on its banks,
Meandering river,
Just want to say thanks!

Often meandering,
With forks full of potholes;
The highway of life.
It's not the yellow brick road...
With Dorothy
Prancing along.
Caution must be exercised;
Gentle on the gas pedal...
At all times on our travels.
We eventually reach
Our destination
We aren't in a nascar race;
Patience is
Of paramount importance!
Life's serpentine freeway
Couldn't be more treacherous
We either obey
The speed limit
Or risk recklessly
Careening off.

The Meandering Brook
*******************
the brook meanders across the moorland,
dividing heather and bracken with banks
adorned with wetland flora, looking grand.
sandy patches, fauna can fill their tanks.
birds of many feathers' quench their thirst, bathe.
water shrew, get lucky, a chance to gaze.
a dipper where the bank widens; washed rock.
the brook earns its reputation, don't knock!
it gurgles, babbles, the midges raving,
mosquitoes, mayflies, themselves on display,
searching for a mate, only have one day.
water scorpions, be wary, nippers!
babbling brook now meanders on, a stream,
then a river full of shoals of bronze bream!
