My friend congratulated me on publishing a book, by bringing ravishing red flowers. closed my eyes in a reverie ~ took the longest breath ~ inhaled the fragrance floating all around me ~ imbibed the radiance of the gleaming red ~ indulged in the memories of love ~ .....As long as I could. Gradually those Roses losing their enchanting sheen, Their unique lustre and hue diminishing, Some dried, parched petals already hopelessly crumbled on the hard floor, fading, shrivelling, drooping, descending. My heart aching mournfully to see them decline and fall, ......Who can stop the inevitable! One by one - those flowers will lose their shimmering petals, only the stems remain reminding of the brilliant past, in the end - they are painfully reminiscent of the decay of a sublime beauty, ending up being cruelly discarded, crushed, .....thrown away with little regard. Life, a meandering river ~ full of possibilities, dreams infinite, also painful memories - Wish we could hold on to the exuberant flavour of a fragile life, An incense burns to exude aroma until only the ash remains... Dreams don’t wilt.... But Happiness fades away before we know it! November 2, 2020 For Ambedo Poetry Contest (Placed Second) Sponsor: Silent One
