Premium Member Magic Words the Libertine Called Passion

The libertine flails his torches
Burning staffs in his hands aglow
Golden sparks from the kindle beseech you
To dance on flames that he throws
For he is a man they call Passion
No soul has escaped what he's sowed

Good bye to innocence
Only embers are left where he's roamed
Good bye to innocence
We all dance on the coals he calls love.

He is the thief we call Ardor
He spins plumes of turquoise and gold
Challengers fall, all are smitten
By warm sultry nights and moon glow
Behind his mask love is yearning
To break free of seductions steel glove

Good bye to innocence
His restraints bind us coarsely entombed
Good bye to innocence
We will dance on the ruins he calls love .

Give Me Your Hand....

Let me take you to Venice
passing through the canals

Premium Member How I Snagged Joe (And the Rest Is History)

Hot August, 1974, I was back for my second year at college,
having just settled into a new place at Anita Apartments,
right next to the guys’ apartment complex called Tanner’s.
My first night, we answered a knock at our door.
Steve Dietrich, a friend of my roommate, entered our apartment,
but my eyes went immediately to the younger man with him.
That would be his brother Joel, there for his first year at BYU.
My first thought was this: How shy he is, so reserved. . . but so adorable.
He was tall and thin and cute as the dickens.
They stayed for just a while, and by the time they left,
I’d formulated my big plan:
to get to know this boy Joel (who everyone just called Joe).

There was to be a parking lot dance that weekend,
and so I waited expectantly, hoping all week
to catch a glimpse of this boy I’d found so attractive,
but no matter how often I strolled past his apartment,
my opportunity for a “chance encounter” never occurred.

The night of the dance arrived and I was right there,
all decked out in my colorful tight top with bellbottoms,
long luscious lashes curled and pink frost lipstick applied.
When I caught sight of Joel, he was slow dancing with some girl.
A blonde with glasses, she was rather plain and smaller than me.
I was not pleased to see her with Joe, and I thought to myself:
Hmmmm, who does she think she is? I saw him first,
and he is NOT going to stay with her tonight.

As they danced, I fixed my eyes on him,
my beautiful, long-lashed, sultry green eyes.
He looked up and saw me then. I must have taken him by surprise
because I did not lower my gaze.
I wanted him to know that he was going to be mine,
so I willed him with my gaze to break away from that blonde
and come to me.
And so he did. . the rest is history.

Beside me at this moment, lying on our bed, watching TV,
is the man who today bears little resemblance to that
very young man I met 35 years ago.
I turn to him and ask, “Do you remember the VERY first time you saw me?”
He replies, “I don’t know; a parking lot dance?”
Well, at least he came close. . .

Premium Member The Night of the Dance

The memory, of old, returns again
and tiptoes in like summer rain.....
If I close my eyes, I can feel the night
that wraps me close, beneath the stars

There were sounds of laughter all around
And crowds were milling all about
A saxophone was softly speaking
and Sinatra's voice was crooning, ...pleasing

For with a midnight tolling near
One by one, they drifted home...
Just a few of us, to dance the floor
All sense of time had halted course...

With shoes kicked off, and jackets hung
We couldn't bear the evening's end
Cheek to cheek with you that night
The last sweet dance would soon begin

The music stopped, but we did not
We couldn't break our tight embrace
We couldn't tear ourselves apart
And while we danced in pale moonlight
Our eyes were closed, you kissed my face
This was our own, enchanted place

You held me close, we danced alone
The night was ours to keep....our own
Though not a sound at all we heard
The lonely saxophone droned a tune
The record of Old Blue Eyes crooned
The music had no end

Dance Through Dark Days

We danced like this
A fit of madness, twirling around
round as the beat drowned

drowned out sounds of outside melodies
unwanted tunes, I danced with you
black dress of luxurious lace swept low
Encasing legs perfectly porcelain
Fanciful footwork-I led you-you led me
 In this symbiotic synchronicity

The light cast down illuminate
a striking angle of your face
smiling, a twirl, hands in mine
around the floor, intertwined
hands in mine

A room looked on...no notice, no matter
Removed from their critique
 judgement, opinion.......all words of others
They mingled into sounds of nothing
noise lost in our self-made song
Eyes locked to speak all unsaid
I kissed your pouted lips instead
our steps never un synched.......

We waltzed on as the night made dawn
The floor beneath was then sand
The ceiling now sky...now you and I
The makers of noise, a memory to forget
Just an inner existence of two

Each day we dance this way
Making song and venue all the same
Taking turns at leading step
For which of us hears the music
Will lead the other in a dance through it.....

I Miss Her

Do you believe in love at first sight?
Well I surely do
I once met a girl out on a dance floor
The feeling I had was so new

She didn't know how to dance
So I showed her how
I still feel in love
Even a year later now

It was unreal
I haven't seen her since
But I picture a world
Where I could be her prince

We would dance again
In a kingdom by the sea
We could be alone
Just her and me

We could always be together
But she will never see
That day I met an angel
And she danced with me

I was hit so hard
By her charm and grace
I miss her so much
I can still see her face

I Remember

I remember as a young man dreaming of falling in love
my dreams were for a special girl made in heaven above
the kind of girl you come by only once in a while
then she walked into my life with her precious smile.

I remember when I first saw her in the middle of the room
next to the dance hall, where we’d dance our love tune
and when we became friends how it was never enough
as I had already fallen in love.

I remember how she smiled when she danced a certain way
and when we became a couple, one September day
I had at last got something in my life so right
I could hold her in my arms, not just in my dreams at night.

I remember when we were married, how it rained and rained all day
but we did not let it spoil our very special day,
I looked back down the aisle, as she came to me dressed in white
and was greeted by her smile, shining through her veil so bright.

I remember how much I loved her, so glad that she was mine,
I remember I gave a promise to love her for all time.
I remember and I will, for no one could love her more
and I’ll hold her in this heart of mine, for now and evermore.

A Dance In Paradise

A Dance In Paradise

As soft light night summer sings a sanctuary of stars to girdle the moon
the wine of your smile is full of elixir
sung on darkness tunes

I will stand then amidst silent sentinels of stone
camouflaged by Cerrunos in his green delicate Earth
basking in memories of your beauty and your love

Inside these cool air let spaces hovering mid bough of ambience and hill
I will breath the fervor of my kisses holding the soft close haven of you

As stars and moon vie in friendship for brightness
their flower of creation adds only to the lightness
of the soothing in my soul

Sweet child of riddles
Unsheathed Wicca woman of dusk
the night only announces this richness you have created
here in my enamored heart

Being with you is the closest I will come to a dance in paradise

Dance--For the Rest of My Life

As entered into the room
Filled with many people
The music plays
Melodies of my heart

I saw in the distance...
As two by two... taken each by the hand
As they got up to slow dance

So soft and sweet...
Gently moves within feet
As they music plays

As if I seen in a daze
How True Love is
Between two. By two...

As they slow dance
Across the room
As the music plays

He then lowers down
As she is embraced
Delicately kisses her lips

Enchantment takes place
For Moments in time
Music plays...

As they continue
To slow dance
Two by two

Such Love in the air
As I watched sitting there
As the music plays...

So beautiful
Between two..
Couples together

Within the room
As the music plays
God makes a way

For come
Together in Love
True Harmony
For All
Two by two

Beltane Night (Pantoum)

We'll raise the flames of Beltane night,
in song and dance we'll celebrate,
espoused by fires in Pagan rite,
our god and goddess incarnate.

In song and dance we'll celebrate
among the flames of love's desire
our god and goddess incarnate,
my promise made beside the fire.

Among the flames of love's desire
a heart and soul have been declared
my promise made beside the fire,
and now my life with you is shared.

A heart and soul have been declared
to you my love, my Queen of May
and now my life with you is shared
as we unite upon this day.

To you my love, my Queen of May
espoused by fires in Pagan rite
as we unite upon this day,
we'll raise the flames of Beltane night.

Ice Skating

I take one step
onto that ice
and an immediate shock
of electricity shoots through me
strength and adrenaline rushes through my blood stream
my heart sings
my soul screams, finally free
my body rips through the cage that it has been kept in for so long
sick of being confined to the ordinary mundane movements
of an ordinary life
finally
it is free
I am free

and i dance
i dance the dance i have danced my whole life
a dance unlike any other
a dance on ice

my soul intertwines with the soul of the ice
it is my partner and we are inseparable
we dance together, like two lovers
long removed from each other
finally reunited
grasping each other in a loving embrace

I have missed the cold awakening hug of the wind
encircling me as a spin
the sparkling ice beneath my skates
twinkling approval up at me as i dance with it

I jump
and i can fly
I am free
nothing in the world can hold me back
no one can cage me
you can't cage my spirit or my soul

I belong on the ice
its a part of me
and always will be

It's Time For a Vacay:

I have my suitcase and bag filled with cute clothes and a camera.
I have a car full of my closest friends and a full tank of gas.
It's time to hit the road and just drive all the way to Samara.

Its a little town in Costa Rica
where the wine flows like a river
and the people dance until there knees grow weak!

The sands are warm
the drinks are strong
the music bellows while people swarm.

My hair thrown back
my sun dress tightly tied around my neck
I hook arms with my best friends as we scan the bars food racks.

I have a shiver run up my neck as the foam of the ocean laps at my feet.
I spot a handsome Costa Rican and give him a grin.
I decide it's time that we actually meet.

We dance and we dance
we drink and we swim
before the night's out I discover a new and burning romance.

Thank you Cost Rica for my wonderful vacation
I'll be sure to come back
and discover a brand new sensation!

First Dance

Would you like to dance with me, and feel my arms around your waist?
Maybe our lips could brush together, to give each other a little taste.
Let us always remember this song as we the others around us far behind.
Now we can move amongst the stars above, no worries of space and time.

As I gaze into your eyes, I get lost in your stare.
Finding myself gasping for breath, I seem lost of air.
The warmth of your embrace makes me lightheaded on this night.
That smile which warms my heart, you are such a beautiful sight.
Here there is no deception, no pain, or reason to cry.
I wish you could see yourself looking through my eyes.

The first dance is almost over as the melody soon will end.
Yes this song may soon be over, as the first of many now begins.
Your gaze near keeps me steady as I drink in the smell of your perfume.
Drunk with so many emotions, my senses opened up like flowers in bloom.
No, more wishful thinking as you’re standing with me here.
I’ll always have this feeling; it will be with me all my years.
Let’s keep all the emotions overflowing, and hold them deep inside.
We can explore all the thoughts we have for each other, sharing this journey we call life.
A passion that won’t die, with this energy never to end.
A little message I had to let you know, one I knew I had to send.

Dance With Me

I want to take your hand
And dance with you, on the silver sand
To Nature’s beat and the rhythm of the sea

I want to watch you sway
To the pulsating sounds of club deejay
Lost in the music with your hair flying free

I want to see you dance inside
Mesmerised, as the dancers glide
Across the stage to Prokofiev or Tchaikovsky

I want to take you to our bed
And dance to the music in your head
Lost in the ballet, swaying free
Liquid motion, like the sea
Pulsating to nature’s sensual beat
Glistening in the flames of our passionate heat

Come dance with me…

Dance Away

To dance in the moonlight
Silhouettes holding tight
Soft steps across the floor
Dulcet tones of sweet amour

Beating hearts in tandem sound
Passing words as heavens found
Cheek to cheek in utter bliss
Both succumb in the perfect kiss

In the air are rhapsodies of love
As diamonds light the sky above
The moonbeams glow will guide
As silhouettes on stardust glide

And in the open fragrant air
Silhouettes a dance did share
Their stars and love be found
To dance in life tightly bound
