Lotus

Lotus petals soft with shadows
Drinking from your shallow pond,
Blossoms that compete with heaven,
With the twilight hour you bond.

Aquatic in your very nature,
Deemed fit to float at Buddha's feet,
Your peaceful beauty calls awareness
Where such enlightened beings meet.

Sacred plant known through the ages
Your spirit dwells within my heart
And centered there, your spark of light
Assures me that we'll never part.

diamond

sun of snow,

envied by venus,

lifting her peacock eyelashes

to stargaze beyond pinkish petals of mild moonrise,

enclosing rusts of rosy jealousy in ancient ruins like lotus Minerva.

Synthetic is the world we’re living in.
Plastic’s life seems timeless; it can’t replace
nature’s portraits: skies that leave us breathless,
bright swirling leaves, and rustic scenes of grace.

To see gold fields - a rainbow overhead -
how can any person not feel enthralled?
I think of high peaks garlanded by clouds
and wild flowers over our landscapes sprawled.

Technology offers us illusion.
The sham of it I'm often forced to see.
Land, air and waters untouched now seem rare.
Where peace can emanate I long to be!

I want to be where silence reigns over me,
so I close my eyes and imagine this:
a blossom on an unpolluted pond,
I float, unclothed and free, in lotus bliss.

Strange Water Lily, your petals
delicate as a rainbow.
Seeing your wonder in this moment
eases dark memories,
yet there in clear water below
your black, feathered roots
appear strangely sinister.

Endearing the gods of enlightenment, dip tenderly into the rainbows
Color band of intrinsic light, softly breathing, as the hushed breath of
A morning doves first coo of life, the lotus flower does blossom and bloom.
Infusions delicate creation floating in the still pond of the everlasting,
Drifting, swaying at the mercy of life's strife, yet in harmonious peace
Its beauty remains perfections timeless jewel, sparkling beneath the mid-eastern
Sun.
Bending does the reddest rose, yielding it's petals to the keepsakes heart
Most sacred inner place, a whirl winds tidal storm of emotions contemplation
Point of origin, it bleeds with a crimson preciousness,
Tangled are the vines woven to and fro, but rich is the human soul.
Floating, cascading cherry blossom's dance, amongst the winds of
Destiny's air, ever gently whispering of loves softness, comforting warmth
Within the arms of lovers devotional vows.
These are the delicate tokens of the for-get-me-knots, showering of the
Lotus, a blending emergence, behold the feminine
Oh let the captive sparrow sing so softly the notes of spring, let her soar
Amongst the eternal skies of white clouds beneath liberation's whitest
Wings of grace.
Upwards, lifted upwards to touch and caress the distant sun above,
Little bird spread your delicate appendages, lie thy offering of the lotus
Leaf before the divine, and may it appease the God's, from which it draws
Life itself from be thy finest gift ever sacrificed,
Tender are their tears are shed, for she the sparrow of mortality.
Exhalted amongst the stars in the very heavens on high,
A beauty figure thus stands, poring the water of life into the deep
Rivers of the universe, and behind her ear lies a lotus blossom.
That blooms eternal.

God does not blink in his eternal watch,
because time does not come in to it at all!
pure stillness reigns where he is awake,
no breath, no whisper there is nothing at all!
in a turbulent pond- like a lotus calm!

slaves we mortals are to the whip of time,
we measure it all day, measure it all night
by the beat of the heart, rhythm of the breath,
at the birth of a child, to the end of our lives,
by the revolutions of earth, Sunset, Sunrise!

look deep within the calmness of your Soul,
there is a glow of divinity that is real you,
there is stillness within that is stillness of God,
the absolute truth that doesn't change at all,
in a turbulent pond - like a lotus calm!

the absolute truth is not the slave of time,
because it is so still time does not exist at all,
life’s many gains and losses, defeats and pain,
have no longer any meaning in this domain,
in a turbulent pond- like a lotus calm!

align your mind with that divine stillness,
perceive the glowing unending brightness,
cast away the body, surrender your soul,
nothing exists! you are part of absolute truth,
the lotus glows - the pond was a mirage!

LOTUS FOR SLOPING KNEES
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

the contentment of disheveled twigs
sitting on shoulders of humming trees,
the sunlight wafting shades on meshed nets---
it is before early morning, pale always ever,
pagan and pliant as the swoon
of winged winds. after all, while village trawlers
tug the day’s haul of buttery clams,
salmon and weeds,
the river washes its feet unobserved.

even when the hills fondle the peaks
of embossed leaves, there is no time
for human leisure on the streams, not yet. not till
compass’ hours stray too long, tedious, unabated
for folk fishermen to haul the orb ropes
and slug aquatic baits in exile, washed
from sea wine that cradles trout’s liberty…

many a time, when incandescent beam
envelopes all things gentle and sunlight drifts
on lotus flowing, rowing; as clouds hover odorless
upon sloping male knees: fishermen become
the fishes darting free, finally tranquil…
content as disheveled twigs lying
on shoulders of humming trees.

Destined Lotus Petals

Through the vacant corridors
of my heart
Echos of a love lost that
once tore me apart
In an infinite vacuum, it’s as
if each beat cries out
Wishing for a time that was,
yet still holds doubt
How it had blossomed as
its essence unfolded
It’s imperfection around my
soul had molded
Imagined expressive sweet
allure and grace
Destined lotus petals held within
a tender embrace
An act of the spontaneous
creation revealed
Didn’t matter if it had to be kept
forever concealed
Calling out to a heart with its
expressed invitation
Definitions and concepts
unknown realization
Promised of a unification of two
hearts and beings
Blinded by obstacles somehow,
felt very freeing
Sitting upon creations reality
it had seemed fused
In the end the complexity had
left one feeling so used
