"Time doesn't stand still the way our hearts do, when it locks onto a memory and suspends it, holding it, caressing it, gazing deeply into it and sucking at it gently hoping to savor again one last time, the sweetness of a time otherwise gone by and forgotten.
Bittersweet with a slice of heartache is all that comes to be now, when I linger there, amoung the shadows. I often question why I stay so long, why I come back at all, what am I hoping to find? The answer is forsaken and elusive, but no longer persistant, the call that used to be like a siren song is long become an echo, fading delicately like the waves that dissolve against the shoreline.
Love is like a mockery to our senses and the mind tries often to rationalize the ashes of that which can no longer be rekindled.
Stubbornly kept, selfishly hidden, like a treasure all its own, a part of you remains deeply embedded in that which will always be me. Like neglected orphans we continue to dance under the moonbeam of innocence, lost among the tall grasses of an ebony field, our whispers reflecting off the water, our laughter entwinded within the grasp of tallest oaks thick branches, snared for a naked moment, before slipping away & fading amongst the diamond eyes of the never sky....
She smiles faintly as her fingers trace the silver chain that adorns her neck, remembering the memories deep within the chambers of the locket, far deeper than any faded photograph."
Blue bells engraved on
gold locket against my breast
reminder of love
when time carelessly spent in
lying on the meadow green
She left nothing but a broken locket,
snapped in two, as though it had been stepped on.
And as I slipped it into my pocket,
I realized that she was truly gone.
She kept our pictures in a golden heart,
saying we would always be together.
But before too long, we drifted apart,
encountering rogue waves and rough weather.
She left me in the wee hours of the night,
into the darkness that swallowed her whole.
And as she silently slipped out of sight,
she cut the tether to my heart and soul.
Failing to adequately secure it:
she left nothing but a broken locket.
It has rained all night
and here in this pause
the morning takes breath
beneath a clear sky.
It will not last long
as already thick clouds
are creeping in
from the south,
their dark loads sagging
with wet weight.
I too take breath
in this brief pause,
look up to see a pale moon
caught in daylight
and framed within
a tiny patch of blue.
It seems like a faded
photograph of a loved one
lit by a moment
before being resealed
inside a locket.
( For Lin Lane fellow lover of the moon )
Tokens of past, wrapped in memories
All ribbons tied, preserving its treasures
Those precious moments, elapsed in time
Thoughts bring forth, those sentimental pleasures
Forever to be, love and devotion
Promised in vows, we remained together
Counting the years, each day blessed
I will repeat, I do forever
Homeless without a blanket
poor as a penniless pocket
so sad I can barely take it
around her neck a locket
She lives on a destitute island with unsettling surroundings. Cold nights. Black days. No one even notices her on the streets. People speed walk through Detroit so fast that they could care less about an innocent mother who has lost her job…as well as her son. He died last year from pediatric lymphoma. Her husband left her five years ago without looking back. He never cared about his family. He was just a selfish creep who ruined two lives. What kind of man doesn’t want to see his son while on his death bed? She will never recover from her losses.
Deep into the night during mid-winter, two feet of snow covered her waist down. Shivering beyond comprehension as her legs go numb. I see this happen way too often. She had no family with no other choice but to live on the streets. I weep every night after passing her. My husband lost his job and I have very little money. Every day I walk down to the library and every time I give her two dollars. I know it’s not much but it’s the best I can do. Maybe she can buy a hot dog and water. She is an outcast to strangers. They think she wants money for the bottle or drugs.
As she wanders through a dangerous city, she witnesses drug deal resulting in murder. She hurried and hid…but…unfortunately the dealer saw her. Eyes connected, her face white with her mouth open. She ran and ran and ran. Far enough to hide temporarily yet close enough for him to find her. The dangers of Detroit caught up with her…
The next day I was walking to the library. She wasn’t there. All I found was a locket. Inside a picture of her son and a tiny prayer.
-I never saw her again.
Homeless not her choice
poor as a long lost sheep
she didn’t carry a voice
forever she will sleep

dreams of family
locket lay against her chest
within, picture torn
Old Salley faces gallows.
Will she eat Jail gruel?
Will monks pray?
This seat, this view, the hot rising sun
Memories began, flooding her heart.
As she gazed out at the tranquil beach
She recalled their hopes, their dreams, their
first time in these seats.
They had walked this beach, laughing so silly
His smile, her giggle, making love in the
sand.
He sketched their initials with a bright
yellow straw
Covered her eyes, and asked for her hand.
He clasped a locket around her neck
Like a glimpse of heaven, a beautiful poem
My strength, my soul, the place I call home.
As he approached the table, she giggles, he
smiles, he clasps her hand, the locket, close.
We chose one another with hope in our heart
Like a glimpse of heaven, a beautiful poem
This locket is a token
Of our love from the start.
Heart pounding at full speed
Smiling eyes
At the glance of you
Happiness surges through my body veins bones an all
Without you I’m afraid i'll crash an fall
Take my hand
And take my heart
Coz I give it all to you
I give everything to be with you
The earth bounds us
but the air takes us to unknown places
And through unknown stages
With all kinds of elevated feelings
For I would die over and over for you
But the question lies with you
Would you take a breath of death for me like I would do
If yes
I hope we can fly around the earth together
And let our souls entwine forever
Burn a locket of memories into our skin around our necks, hearts ,souls and spirit
Because every single minute I spend with you I know is worth it
The feelings I hold for you run so deep I cannot control them
I hope the memories I have of you will never fade away
If they do the love I have for you is sure to stay
So forever be apart of me
be my hope and lasting memory.

Like the oyster keeping its mouth fastened with pearl,
Her locket was calm with pearl of secret, treasured;
Link has loosened somewhere? Nerve got numbed? Sudden whirl…?
Once psychologically bound has now leisured...?
She held it to her heart; right hand clasping it tight,
Haven't her life-time dreams and hopes lie bundled in?
Horror dreams had woken her sometimes at mid-night,
She looked for it first, than anything else, with grin...!
She knew her neighbor, who got one from her sweetheart,
That when got broke how soon her life got upside-down...!
Her vowed life with her spouse turned true hell; torn apart;
Aren't all these, yet, omens-tinged and fate playing clown...?
Shouldn't broken locket be fixed like other gifts?
Should broken locket be cause for endless love-rifts...???

A new time, enveloped inside mine
Keeps ticking aloft besides
And slides the locket of her mother
Beyond the socket of the wayside
Opens diversity into plain view
Where others place their often misguided
Open-faced mindless guffaw over
The mantle of deceit, where she sits
Like she is the queen of eternity
But she can’t keep that locket
If it means that time eludes the father
Of all the worlds money, which opens
When she befalls the worship of the uncanny
Where leviathans keep their beck
And over the side of Egypt, the call
Bellows below the falling of the wayside
Where a locket grows eternal questions
Where her mother, that of nature cries
And beneath all factions that crawl
Those that think they are right
Mistake the ruling of the supremacy
Of the father
Tick tock, tick tock, tick
Tock

I wear an imaginary locket around my neck
I go to a quiet place and look at your picture
I close my eyes softly and ponder what your eyes look like
Then I close my imaginary locket and place it even closer to my heart
Its hinges are worn
Your image is faded
I hope to see you soon to snap a new mental picture
My imaginary locket worn securely in its place
My heart dances merrily when I put it back in its place

On Her Locket
================
O altering love! My love,
Let you remove the locket
Your pir-father has given you to wear
Around oh! Your delicate neck.
I’m sure you’ll find this life lovely again,
This earth—heavenly.
Those slipping smiles and that loud laughter,
Shall return.
That scolding and sulking,
That tickling, irritating and false-fighting,
All that fun, will surely return.
We’ll fly again together to that platonic world
And rule there…
As queen and king.
Or don’t tell me to interpret your dream,
“You were whole night
As amid dark dotted snakes
In a deep dark ditch
And loud laughed over by
The nasty monsters surrounding.”
In the symphony of love, there is a resonance,
where hearts beat in harmony, finely attuned.
Two souls entwined, finding completeness
together; they dwell by the warm hearth.
In their eyes, a promise made evermore,
within their palms grasp, a treasured locket.
One half holds a memory in this locket,
A reminder held near his heart of her resonance,
In hers, a ballad of forever, played evermore,
Recorded with heartstrings; she perfectly attuned,
Her composition of passionate notes rests upon the hearth,
She scribed words made of strengthening completeness.
Within the rhythm of life, they discovered completeness,
an unbreakable bond; like the chain of their cherished locket
Together, they cord the wood used to feed beneath this hearth
The warmth of which holds an eternal resonance!
Remembering their spirits working together became attuned,
and bound by a love that promises evermore.
Whispers of devotion, now sing loudly evermore,
In every glance, they’re a pair of completeness,
A melody of love, perfectly attuned,
For them, time stands still, cradled in a locket,
In the quiet night, their songs track lays down a resonance
Openly, these two stars burn bright upon that hearth.
Handmade is their last night’s love by the hearth
With every dawn, they respect the last day evermore
Echoing affections enduring resonance,
in each other’s presence, they found completeness.
A strung duet facing one another in a priceless locket,
their souls pitch perfect; forever attuned.
Their harmonious hearts magically attuned,
in love's embrace, where they built a hearth
Bound by the promise held inside a locket,
a sanctuary where dreams echo evermore!
They found each other by questing for completeness
In their union, beats a drum of timeless resonance.
Where attuned hearts shall dwell; inside evermore,
eternally tempered beneath the hearth of this completeness.
Was forged their locket, a pendant containing his and her resonance…
