My Imaginary Locket

I wear an imaginary locket around my neck

I go to a quiet place and look at your picture

I close my eyes softly and ponder what your eyes look like

Then I close my imaginary locket and place it even closer to my heart

Its hinges are worn

Your image is faded

I hope to see you soon to snap a new mental picture

My imaginary locket worn securely in its place

My heart dances merrily when I put it back in its place

A love kept close to the heart provides warmth and comfort . . . real or imaginary -- love transcends all. Lovely write.
