Traversing Iceland's National Park, a timeless place, where daylight fills each passing hour
and twilights ever brief. While volcanoes stand by sentinel, amidst dark lava fields.
Amazing geysers so magnificent, vent angry clouds of steam. Our route wlnds through
wild landscapes, laid down by ice and fire. Breathtaking scenes see lustrous skies, change
colour constantly. To marvel as wild reindeer herds migrate, in seeking pastures new.
We rest awhile to take respite beside a waterfall, avoiding midday's heat. And bathe in ice
cool waters crystalline, refreshing tired feet. The time soon comes for us to climb to high
plateaus, where vast glaciers with melting ice, cascade torrents down below. From this
vantage point we sight, the coastal waters where we aim to spend the night. Eventually, we
make our descent, crisscrossing mountain streams, and wend our way carefully, to stroll
through pastures green. Wild ponies graze as we pass by, observing us with watchful eye.
Unbroken and unbowed by man, a force of nature, likens them to this rugged land.
At journey's end we reach the fjord, this tranquil scene gains our accord for
camping wild. Waiting patiently until the midnight hour to take some photographs.
All panoramic landscapes, and taking centre stage this star, still shining bright our sun.
Waking early to the strident sounds of seabirds raucous calls. Our experience seems
so surreal, without the break of dawn. Today our destination will end our brief sojourn.
Eventfully we stand beside where continents divide, Eurasia and North America's
tectonic plates collide.

Your life must have been worthwhile
You success is one milestone
Turning another facet of life
Likens a turning of a book of each page.
For every millennium
And for every momentum
Life after life, page by page
Is understood served well a purpose
Although its meaning contrive
Misleading a mission of life
Is just a page worn out of use.
You let open a dream
Strive for it leave no post mortem
All you did must conform
To your style and idiom.

Allamanda in April slowly open its trumpets around posts that look like
Buttercups of honey for bees to dive in to replenish their striped bellies
Crocus's yellow stigmas that flavour our food are a blessing by Hermes, but
Dead Nettle is hardly so dead with her fuschia coloured flowers on tall stalks
Early Star Of Bethlehem awaits for snow to melt and to be reborn to bless
Freesias that innocently rest atop wedding cakes with their snowy icing buds as
Glory Lily with reflexed pink petals look like a turkish cap in a showstopper
Hyacinth clusters ease tension while boasting off its colourful array of petals
Irises' three petals looking heavenwards and one downwards links us to gods
Jasmine's pristine beauty rests in my bun, leaving a trail of fragrance in morns
Knife Acacia's drooping yellow clusters add beauty to xeriscape landscaping
Larkspur's purple petals are like curtains displaying an open light heart while
Mountain Laurel in translucent white with pink accents are humbled before
Narcissus smiling from above the rockery at its reflected beauty in the pond below
Orchids, rare and royal, flourish in moss and add grandeur to pinned coats
Portulaca overhangs my flower pots on boundary walls in appeasing hues
Queen of nights likens to a creamy lotus on a cactus, blooms but once annually
Red Hot Poker's stand like tall red candies in clusters attracting children
Spring Snowflakes are reversed scalloped white cups dangling with breeze
Teddy dahlias in naughty bonniness wear the brightest sunny hoods
Ursinia fields wave in the spring breeze like floating islands in an orange sea
Virginia Bluebells ring in the spring, chiming in nooks till silenced by the rains
Wake Robin is stemless and sits on leaves with its fetid aroma to attract flies
Xeranthemum is purpled in royalty to favour love and changes its owner's life
Yellow Star of Bethlehem grows wildest in landscapes, yet aspiring to help
Zinnia blossom as space-flower in its debut aboard the NASA space station

Love, a curse or a boon
a query that has grown
there exist a lucky few
who hath tasted this feeling true
Young love likens a rosebud
pure and delicate, unshed
canst not get enough of the other
forever dying to be together
hearts thudding furious
pulse racing and curious
earnest to explore in negligence
the new world bathed in brilliance
like a bud eager to bloom
and bee to devour
(Love is justified)
Time flies in dalliance
love blooming with experience
with it comes trust
and assurance a must
here and then they falter
unable to alter
bud devoid of the dew
fragrance fading in lieu
(Is love justified?)
The rose now in full bloom
as love on its way to doom
arduous is the test of love
withering away if not conveyed
chiding and belittling the other
love start its decline and wither
It has happened time and again
repeating itself in vain
alas! In the minds of those
the answer still remain!!!

Resolved to quit, a collection betrays my dear Mona.
Hers are the ones marked by colorful stain.
Her obsession likens her to my aging Smith-Corona.
It’s coughing just now as if in great pain.
Its lungs store a shiny bobble divorced from Mona's ear,
three of her Lucky Strikes all out of smoke…
My functional machine has other favorite souvenirs
including a guarded flight stub, no joke.
She was a stewardess, last year when I met my sweet “Mo”
and I became her first passenger goof.
That is, the first one on whom she spilled a hot cup of joe.
My versatile cabinet holds the proof.
Mona needs to smoke; she is addicted to nicotine.
Maybe she’ll change brands when I light her fuse.
Two new keepsakes - ads from both Life and Post magazine
claim, “Camels, the brand which more doctors choose.”
set in this 1930-40's era, this piece focuses on the cigarette industry.

Constantly is one
Contacting you is keeping alive
And loving you despite the distance
Is a gentle rain
Rapidly to dampen
Loneliness that hamper and threatens
Thus, energizing and maintaining
Our LOVE
And repotting, therefore is for existence
And likens a life supporting device.

She’s an artist of word and rhyme
He’s an artist of capturing time
She weaves lines creating emotion
He stills a moment in motion
He brings her into focus
She likens him to a crocus
They dance in monorhyme
The lighting is perfectly prime
He caresses her with long exposure
Her pen bleeds of love and allure
He looks for that shot he desires
Now she and her muse are on fire
His shutter snaps quick progression
She alliterates in rapid succession
Sunrise paints the sky with colors
Inspiring these would-be lovers
He’s waited for such perfect light
She’s yearned for inspiration to write
How fitting they finally meet
On the cliffs once walked by Keats
Her image fills the frame of his picture
As sonnets she pens like scripture
They were destined to be together

When at a Chinese restaurant, I frequently dote upon their paper place settings, the Chinese horoscope. It likens a token animal to the year that one is born and a few personality traits that some people scorn. My brother was born in the year of the monkey and many a day he's still very funky. My sister was born in the year of the rat. She's creative and charming but perhaps a little fat. I'm a large cat but I never purr. I was born in the year of the tiger. Now our president was born in the year of the dog which could make for an interesting dialogue. Dog people value loyalty and so does he. There's no mention of dictatorship or royalty that I can see. Joe Biden was born in the year of the horse. Their motivated by happiness, an excellent choice.

Political Verse
Light
Light, bright, fair
Long, soft hair
A spectacle beyond compare
Small, narrow, pointy nose
Soaps and scrubs
And cheap lightening creams get smeared and lathered
Lasers, needles, pills
And even IV fluids
Get smuggled in
A global phenomenon
A billion dollar industry
Used to be dark and insecure
But now...
I am Cinderella
I am Belle
I am exceptional
I am beautiful
Less melanin please
White from the inside out
A risk worth taking
Want to be presentable
Even if it cost me my life
Even if burns and rashes persist
Even if poisonous
And over the limit
Even if cheap, deadly ,mercury
Likens me to a baboon’s butt
Either way, I’d be better off
Bleaching my way to access and opportunity

The only thought in God’s head is
Being.
Existence
is the choice that Free Will made.
To be and know necessitates “seeing,”
and seeing requires
both light and shade.
The fractal fabric of ontology –
endless Mandela of lights and darks
that likens micro to cosmology,
the music of spheres
to the spin of quarks –
reflects upon itself at every scale
and mirrors
“the world in a grain of sand,”
analyzes the ocean in a pail
and makes us want to learn
and understand,
since,
due to Creation’s consistency,
we are not lost in random irony.

I put you on a stand; some say it is a pedestal.
I appear before you; I am in awe of the work before me.
Sometimes life is but a flat tire; air is such a revitalizer!
In you, in me!
I carefully inspect each wheel of contention; the spokes
Of time invade my domain.
And still, I can see you smile when no one else can!
I lovingly caress, polish and oil the sprocket and chain of a dream,
Waiting in the wings, amid the flare.
I have made all the necessary adjustments, my brakes cannot fail,
Possibly open the road for destruction of my 'revolutions' per minute.
Sese, my dearest friend, my physician, inscribed my simple passion;
Not for diagnosis, rather a means to diagnose.
As the miles of life, [many in my rear view mirror now], fill my odometer,
The reflectors on my chrome fenders show it has been a good ride,
On my own saddle, without a prescribed route!
The sun darts in and out of the clouds, motionless in all this movement;
And yet likens itself to me, stationary, and yet moving!
I mount my handsome steed, indelible polished hues of green, the annual
Maintenance complete!
The Green Hornet, a pedal bike, rides again!
Throw me a headwind, I shan't care,
In this life, it is far easier to ride on air!

Once upon a time her cat dissolves in my arms
one night while she was at work
and once upon a time
because what i did that night
will never happen again
i promise, i promise
i broke into her house
that's right
that's right
i broke into her house
like a sneak in the night
that i am
oh don't mind me
she wouldn't care
it's only me
the one she hates to love
and loves to hate
the one that's rock bottom
and bottoms rock
see i'm not that bad
i tell jokes
and stir the straw
into her bottoms rock
on no he didn't say that again
he did, did he
and i met,
i did, did i
my acquaintance with her cat
Austin, Austin
right off the bat, you see
her cat was onto me
first as a sneak in the night
then she sniffed out the goodness
you see, you see
and warmed up to me
to me, to me
i could win anyone's heart,
you see, please do
including her lovely cat
but not her, and why
and why
Austin peeks her head
from the side of the couch
watching with those big blue eyes
so cute those eyes
so real, so real
i said Austin
come here, come here
kit-tie, kit-tie
she did, so cute
and why wouldn't she
her tail wagging
her rump high in the air
walking slowly at first
with elongated steps
cautious, cautious
staring into my bonding eyes
she likens to me
i gave her some bacon
her favorite new food
now she loves me
she nudges a friendly greet
she's pregnant with joy
and she brings a smile to my face
and i bring a smile to hers
you see, you see
the silhouette of the night
happy, happy
like there's a halo over her for the first time
her happiness emanating
very well, very well for the first time
she purrs, and lies on her back
trusting me, you see
i pet her on the chin
chinny, chinny, chin
she likes that
i give her kiss
she's beaming
the house is quiet
but pleasant
me and her cat
two in a mitten
a new friend in her catnap
me, you see
it was nice that first acquaintance
paw to paw, hand in hand, nudges to nudges
then, then, like all good things
must come to an end
the first day of light peeking
peeking in the morning light
i say austin, i say austin

I adopt dainty etiquette
when quenching thirst or dining
to buzzfeed growling beast
inside me tummy.
The missus requests obedience
raising both my little fingers in the air
upon taking beverage or repast to lips.
Additionally, she also requires I
(well healed husband who toes the line)
perform dance shuffle - think clog
feigning to trip over feet
as if yours truly quaffed to much grog
while balancing atop log.
Miss iz manners re: lee the spouse
sets prime example being lady like,
what with her belching and snorting
of course with mouthful of food
no surprise she nurtured impolite brood
raised on learning language crude
even this Geico caveman exhibits
less coarse attitude,
he likens himself to subdued dude
trying his darnedest (golly gee)
to avoid family feud
general behavior hashtagged as rude

slurping or masticating in the nude,
whereby other body sounds made
unsuitable for strait laced and prude
folks who don't take a fancy hearing
so called uncouth soundclouds exude
out body orifices considered foul,
inapropos and extremely lewd
when unless quarantined in solitude.
One upside of COVID-19
postprandial aural emanations

Tex-Mex Connection
in North Wales, Pennsylvania
where we shared our first date
(outsize bean burritos)
I tooted my own horn,
she unwittingly got me into checkmate,
just for that her fate got sealed,
when our respective gametes
(ova and sperm cells respectively)
new life we did miraculously create
the first of two female offspring
would become housed in utero
and come to resemble
a spheroid somewhat oblate
even now unnamed counterpart,
(and partner in crime) still swell person
hook hood benefit to lose some weight,
cuz... well adipose freight
quite ample around equator.

A mountain of faith
Like a mountain of dust
A good gust of wind
Will banish all trust
Faith likens hope
Delusion to some
To others the vision of
Great things to come
Foolish is he who stands
Twixt the two, for he
Risks the wrath when
He faces taboo
Better he sit's on polemical
Fence, than enrage the
Faint hearted with no
Recompense!
