Best Liguori Poems
In solitude I dream tonight
And watch a moth in fevered flight.
It’s drawn toward my quaint porch light
And flies consumed with all its might.
Through open window I can see
Its desperation shared with me;
How freedom in this world is light—
And we as souls are drawn to fight.
Though freedom’s light may cause our death,
It’s worth the risk with every breath.
I understand the moth’s sad plight
When drawn to the glorious light.
Though it knows not of human trust,
It buzzes on because it must!

For centuries, minorities have fought
to gain their human rights. How can it be
that even now so many folks do not
feel safe in “civilized” society?
And one can’t fathom the atrocities
this very minute somewhere going on
affecting innocents in towns and cities!
Great wickedness from day to dusk to dawn!
Laws were established to ensure that we
would have our freedoms each and every day.
I look around me. More and more I see
injustice taking human rights away!
I’m most appalled by censorship and lies
controlling us to feed elitists’ greed
as my so-called “free” government denies
the rights our constitution guaranteed!
The flagrant disregard of human rights
that’s happening today is sickening.
It’s history repeating . . . and the lights
are going out! End times are quickening.
Wake up and see what’s coming! If you don’t,
too soon it will be too late for us all.
Come stand and fight with me, for if you won’t,
we’ll be as slaves, and great shall be our fall.

Joe Bonamassa and his band playing Beyond The Silence has
inspired me to write my own lyrics to this incredible song
~ and it goes like this ~
The truth is I am tired, of the fight
weary, weary of searching, for the light
I need to just, let it all go
before I am a name, in a graveyard row
Oh, I am not, the only one
whose soul, has become, undone
and when all is quiet, I think of you
and all our dreams, and it makes me blue
Beyond the silence
beyond the silence, in my heart
beyond the silence
beyond the silence, in my heart
I climb
I climb
from this storm, seeking the sublime
Jesus, can you help me fight
can your shield and sword, be my might
I want to be an unbending tree
then, my soul will be free
Beyond the silence
beyond the silence, in my heart
beyond the silence
beyond the silence. in my heart
I climb
I climb
from this storm, seeking the sublime
For, I wish to soar, in the sky
go beyond, the clouds up high
to fly, to fly, to breathe, breathe
to fly, to fly, breathe, breathe
Oh, I will not live, in the past, another day
sorrow and grief, will not be my way
I have shed, all my tears
I have said, all my prayers
Beyond the silence
beyond the silence, in my heart
beyond the silence
beyond the silence, in my heart
I climb
I climb
from this storm, seeking the sublime
from this storm, seeking the sublime
the sublime
the sublime
the sublime

Life must be navigated without family pain.
Sins that grab the dirt below leave a stain.
Wrongdoings profoundly wound the heart.
Wrongs compel us to feel like targets apart.
Can we avoid future wrongs if we forgive?
Is it better to let go of grudges or to sieve?
Life is full of hurts and scars that all us face.
Disdain, pride, criticism, sarcasm, disgrace.
No type of love that can weather any storm.
A display of virtue outrivals a hatred swarm.
We are in an era when love is seen as a delight.
A bond falls when there is no sense of insight.
Rejecting wickedness is a crucial life insight.
If a smart person bears evil well, we can fight.
The grace to endure affliction and shame.
To fight off evil, avoid reprisal, rage, or declaim.
Was forgetting a condition of forgiveness?
To ignore it is to miss the tip: lenient grimness.
A major harm can't be erased from memory.
Pardon is a duty to offer optimism and reverie.
To some, forgiveness is a sign of weakness.
Forgiveness needs heroic work and boldness.
Furious individuals escape quite easily.
Creative dialogue solves this issue gleefully.
The best approach to surviving this world.
is to request forgiveness and be unnerved.
A balance is present in this chaotic universe.
Just let life happen and live it without a curse.
Allow God to handle the care of the wrath.
Love is the central theme; it paves the path.
By forgiving injustice, humans can heal.
Man needs time to forgive; thus, mercy is a deal.

They hailed her as the empress of the waves
Supreme upon the ocean’s vast domain,
Yet those who watched her launch, and bid ‘Godspeed’,
Could never have foreseen her fleeting reign.
She left Southampton heading for New York;
The sky above was somewhat overcast.
Such hopes and dreams were riding on her bow,
But this first voyage proved to be her last.
The pinnacle of luxury and ease
Awaited wealthy passengers on board,
Whilst crystal chandeliers to music swayed,
A toast to life was raised and champagne poured.
On lower decks the entertainment lacked
Yet children made the most of little space.
Locked heavy gates were purposed to divide
And keep the third-class steerage in their place.
But when disaster struck the glacial path
And frozen waters threatened souls of men,
Proud opulence and rank would count as naught;
Humanity was equal once again.

I’m thankful, Lord, for all that’s good -
My freedom, health and womanhood.
So much I have of gratitude
For warmth and shelter and good food.
Especially I’m grateful for
My family and friends and more. . .
I love thy mountains, plains and seas,
Thy many flowers, plants and trees.
May people understand the worth
Of all you’ve given us on earth.
Please bless the loved ones in my life,
Especially those now facing strife.
I pray that I will not be blind
To those in need; I must be kind.
I pray whatever comes to me,
That I’ll accept it gracefully.
Forgive my faults and silly ways.
To thee, oh Lord, I give all praise.
Praise I sing again and again
to Thee, my dear, sweet dear Lord. Amen.

The cruelest of all villains lives on Mount Crumpit
for when it comes to Christmas, he says, "Dump it!"
He keeps trying to "Pooh pooh" that sacred holiday,
but so far everyone's efforts have kept him at bay.
Oh, he's a real mean one, that monster, Mr. Grinch
A devilish fiend that I would love to catch and lynch
I'd gladly dump his body in a cactus patch or ditch
if someone would tell me where he is. It's ok to snitch.
To celebrate Christmas, he has never been willin'
to let children enjoy the day. He needs to be chillin'
and stop trying to ruin the holiday when Santa comes,
and if he's a good grinch, he might get a set of drums.
He's big and he's a beast, bad-tempered to say the least
so, he's never been invited to join in a Christmas feast.
Oh, he's a vile one, that Mr. Grinch with flesh of green,
a supervillain without a heart, meanest of the mean!
He's such a grouch, wanting to commit the dirty deed
of stealing Christmas and that makes him a bad seed.
What an evil wretch to kidnap Santa and children's toys.
That's one of his sinister schemes and dastardly ploys.
If I can catch him sleeping before December rolls around,
I'll find a way to bring that thieving horrible creature down.
Oh, he's a mean one with a twisted soul, that Mr. Grinch.
Will you help me rid the world of him if I get into a pinch?

Song for an Angel
So beautiful is my sweet girl
that she can’t even see.
She asks me if she looks okay.
She sure looks good to me!
She thinks her hair is mousy brown.
She wishes that her eyes
were a nicer shade of green
and she – a smaller size.
Chorus:
It’s not about the physical. Even if it was,
she looks phenomenal. She’s my girl because
her love is like no other’s; her grace I can’t resist.
Thank you, God, for showing me that angels do exist.
We go out to a restaurant
and I see men’s heads turn.
She’s the type for whom most guys
who seek a wife would yearn.
How glad I am to have her
right there by my side.
She smiles at me, and I can’t hide
the pride I feel inside.
Chorus:
It’s not about the physical. Even if it was,
she looks phenomenal. She’s my girl because
her love is like no other’s; her grace I can’t resist.
Thank you, God, for showing me that angels do exist.
We get home from our night out
and in her quiet way,
she leaves the room and comes back out
in a negligee.
To sparkling eyes and hair down loose
and loving arms I’m drawn.
I’m gazing at an angel as
I put slow music on.
Bridge:
Playing, I keep playing sweet and soulful music.
Swaying, we are swaying with the lights dimmed low.
Romancing, sweet romancing – always leads to more.
Dancing with my angel – love's made better slow.
Chorus:
It’s not about the physical. Even if it was,
she looks phenomenal. She’s my girl because
her love is like no other’s; her grace I can’t resist.
Thank you, God, for showing me that angels do exist.

Awesomely white, amazingly glorious
Bible Revelation Horse* --- victorious…
Carrying CHRIST from heaven celestial
Driven for tasks, divinely essential…
Enthusiastic, daring, energetic
Fulfilling well roles that are prophetic…
Governed by truth and wisdom of Scriptures
Hoisting faith along God’s kingdom ventures…
Instructed upon righteousness' great stride
Jumping over trials midst holy pride…
Kingly Saviour’s Horse bearing gracious light
Leading fellow stallions with goodness flight…
Mounting against evil for love to reign
Never neglecting duty of peace gain…
Optimizing strength as the Lord’s War Horse
Powerfully propelled by triumph force…
Quick to respond toward blest reaching-out
Readily hurdling tests of hardships- bout…
Steadfast and stable to smite sin downfall
Trotting above frustration neigh and call…
Upheld to ascend via kindness’ speed
Vanquishing hate by Master’s loving deed…
Winning favor of supreme Commander
X-ing out loss, praising Servant Leader…
Yielded to Creator Almighty
Zealous joyful Horse toward eternity.
*Revelation 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

Abecedarian
So, once upon a time, there was a cat
that had no real home, and all alone,
she'd wander here and there amid the yards
in a community with lovely lawns
and shady trees and bushes that gave her
some shelter from the sun and pouring rain.
She'd go from house to house and beg for food;
with kind gold eyes and fur of shiny black,
she made some friends, but then, she'd run away.
Except, one day, she found her perfect home
and stayed and stayed till they adopted her.
So, in and out she'd go in her two worlds,
content for shelter and fine tasty meals;
still loving her adventures when outdoors.
But, oh one day, her 'daddy' caught a scene
that put such fear into his loving heart!
For there she was across the street, oh no,
in frozen stance and nearly nose to nose
with a coyote, large and tawny-gray!
For many seconds, neither moved, but then
she lunged into his face- was so surprised
and shocked...the huge coyote ran away!
As Licorice, (her name), came racing home
she flew into the open door and hopped
upon her 'mama's' lap and looked up with
her large gold eyes that twinkled with delight,
as if to say- don't worry about me-
my homeless days made me a warrior.

Fervent mishaps start life's biggest wins.
The first crocus shrieks and grins.
A bird's song caused snowflakes to bloom.
Pink, peach, and gold hues in the sky loom.
A fib said once might have afar-reaching effects.
Even as there's time for the truth to tie its elects,
I once took a pathless route to a sluggish win.
Suitable people can clash with the truth within.
Appearances may mislead, and secrets may hide.
A brave and savvy tale, hiding an enigma inside.
Cross rivers and lofty hilltops to find the truth.
Seeking truth amid a world of lies and sleuth
Aged tale as Eden Tree, vernal as a raw tooth
Men grasp lip-thatch form, art, and truth.
Erstwhile, tales, and fables tell.
Truth, rising from the depths of its well.
Authenticity faces life's storms defenseless.
Yet slyness stays sealed to strife senseless.
Justice and fairness ensure all are rated fairly.
Dark deceit and evil send spun wiles sparsely.
Be brave—the liar is a coward and a slave.
Sneaky, skilled at scams and lies, awful knave.
Being honest is punter than money and status.
Stick to the truth, relish light, do not tend to fuss.
Righteousness is power; truth must prevail.
True bravery for an hour typically will avail.
Under any disaster, selfish wails yield no gain.
Inspire with grit and firm will, not always pain.

Cocooned
Just like a butterfly trapped tight,
her folded wings await the flight.
Cocooned, she fears what to expect
when from her safety, disconnects.
With wings of flight, she must escape
into a world with new landscape...
Just like a butterfly entrapped
inside a world so tightly capped.
Cocooned, she fears the world outside
seen from within...freedom denied.
Transfiguration, a gift of few...
needs wings of flight to change her view.

World peace one cannot buy
Over the sky
Round the mountain's eye
Lands near~~far and high
Decades this has been the cry
People ask why
Everyone wants to say to war good-bye
Ask why do they need to die
Cause man is evil~there are many a bad guy
Everyone wants peace with a sigh
