Best Light Hearted Poems

Premium Member A Lighthearted Peek At The Apocalyptic World Of Poetry Contests

This contest style’s description is one I’ve never heard
I’m unfamiliar with that particular word
An internet search comes up empty
However, others seem to have poems aplenty
My eyes are getting blurry a total collapse seems imminent
Quickly penning an entry appears to be the only way out of my predicament
My freshly emerged imposter’s syndrome is now on full display
As I throw words together to prayerfully send a piece on its way
Whoops, I don’t believe the lines above were exact rhymes
I wonder if I will get disqualified this time
I see it is quintessential to utilize the word “quintessential”
Unfortunately, that stretches me to also use a word like “nonextensile”
Argh! I just realized I’m not counting my meter
I promise I’m not purposefully being a cheater
Oh well, competitions are all in good fun,
even if they drive you a bit crazy
You just have to be creative, put in the work,
and not . . . something, something lazy

late at night
 a shepherd
 woke his wife

 I saw...heard
 angels sing
 in the sky!

 it’s the wine
 she mumbled
 or UFOs!

In this case UFOs is 2 syllables

May the year ahead invigorate

  Helping all of us create

    Poetry first-rate ~

       I can't wait!

Light Hearted

To explain in detail, is to take away,

away from the feelings I wan to convey

My heart is inspired for a short burst of time,

so I must find the words quick, and make them rhyme.

Premium Member Light Hearted Kid

Do you remember when phones had a cord to the wall outlet?
Our son was about five years old.
We were in a hotel room and he wanted to call daddy.
He ran over to the phone and picked it up.
As he looked at me with a very puzzled look, he said it has no dial tone.
Yes, no dial tone because we are in a hotel room.

I like the Light on the water.
I like the Light on the snow.

I like the Light in the hollow.
I like the Light through the fog.

I like the Light piercing cloudbanks.
I like the Light in the glade.

I like the Light komorebi in Spring.
I like the Light cafuné in late day.
I like the Light mångata in Arjuna’s April Auriga.
I like the Light yura yura in Winter’s darkness.

I like best the Light in her eyes.
I like best the Light from her skin.
I like best the Light in her walk.
I like best the Light in her laugh.

You can keep your candle, your Equinox.
You can keep your noon-light, your lamp.
You can keep your algal fluoresce, your Moon.
You can keep your star-glimmer, your wick.

I like best the Light, that finds her,
that falls to her, that bends from Source,
to her, to me. Her Light, I call it.
The only Light.

Premium Member Frog's Monologue

Emerald green, he gleams
With rich, vibrant hues
Sitting by the water, he dreams
I wonder about his muse

Singing to the wind and stars
Joy seems his greatest skill
Maybe he is really from Mars
His voice is so loud and shrill

Echoing faintly on the night
Laughing in the shadowy dark
Gracious, he shines so bright
He should be someone’s trademark

Lively and filled with inspiration
Imagine the feeling I awaken
It could be he is some relation
To one who his heart has forsaken

Whoever he loves, however he lives
I know this frog is wise beyond his years
He offers prayers and always gives
Kisses to the girls with pig’s ears

There is a saying that is told to us all
“You must kiss a lot of frogs
To find your prince charming” – Call
Whoever you know to this frog’s monologue

Premium Member My Light-Hearted Kids Poem

Kids are rough.
They make my shoulders tired.
My eyes ruddy.
They make me 2nd,
3rd, 4th guess myself.
All of reality is questioned
And I’m summoned for answers.
Constantly running out of juice.

The fridge and pantries are stuffed to the gills
With every non-preferred food item imaginable.
I look over at my 3 persuasive goblin angels.
They appear to laugh and cry at the same time,
A rainbow of emotions radiating out
From the living room to the kitchen.
I was also laughing and crying,
Just on the inside the way adults do.

The floor was sticky under my socked feet from
Independent juicing while I was still sleeping.
My eyes fell on my wallet on the counter
As I closed the fridge.
“I just spent $140 dollars on the 3 of you.
We are not going to 7-11.”
I threw the Icee cups away and off the counter,
The ones we got at 7-11.

Then suddenly my 7-year-old walks over
And hugs me around the waist.
“I love you, dad,” he whispers,
Attempt to quell my raging thoughts
Wailing mutedly across my small apartment.
He then went into this valiant speech he delivers
Now and then when the mood feels right:

“And if I woke up one day and had a different dad
I would punch him in the face and go look for you.”

Kids are tough.
But they’re worth every penny.
And everyone else’s pennies.

Strawberry Moon

You don’t look much like a strawberry, moon
But you do look like a shortcake in June
Round and gold and waiting for that sweet mess
Of strawberries and syrupy sugar, oh yes

I can sort of see it now, like a summer dream
Of beaches and carnivals, heaped with whipped cream
Now you’re gleaming white and clean as an empty plate
Right in front of whom I sit hungrily and wait.

Light Hearted

Somewhere beyond this there's recovery
Somewhere between the heart and the mind
Sooner or later we will find peace, love and
Joy...we just have to believe even in our
Darkest hour there a light within that always
Shines so don't be so hard on yourself
This too shall pass, keep the faith 'cuz what's
Past is best left in the past...allow yourself
To be Lighthearted, let go and let God
Everything happens for a reason so enjoy
Life and all the beauty that surrounds you
This season...there's really no real reason to
Be afraid no matter how bad things seems
Everything will be ok...so be Lighthearted
Give yourself a chance, sing a new song
Dance a new dance 'cuz somewhere beyond
This there's vindication somewhere between
The heart and the mind...we will find grace of
Sweet redemption...so be Light hearted and
Let your spirit shine!

Infinity Blessings

Waking up to the sound of birds,
Flying and chirping along the wave of the wind.
The long awaited comfort of the warm sunrise,
Finally dispels the coldness of the night.
Beauty can be seen through everywhere,
Through sight, sound, touch and feelings.
Oh wait, how forgetful I am,
Life has always been a bliss.
Infinite blessings that seems to be neverending,
The feeling of appreciation is what humans can return.
I am me, young at heart,
Still seeking the meaning of life.
Sometimes when bad things comes creeping in,
I accept the challenges ahead to prove that I can be better.
Just like the repeating cycle of the sun, rising and setting,
So am I, to rise and fall multiple times.
Even failing has it's own wonderful perks in it,
We get to experience the warmth hands that are being offered to us.
All at once, the Creator continues to works in mysterious ways.
Our only purpose is to live and make it as a light hearted experience.

Premium Member Pow Wow

I long to dance and chant around the orange crackling fire in front of my tribe, the Sioux
Hot humid July night.
Sweat and passion.
Kick up the dust from my ancestors teachings.
Yip and scream my heart's desire.
We are one.
God is to be feared.
He made us to be revered.
Join me, won't you?
Release your fear, worry, and doubt! And dance and shout!
Celebrate this hallowed night.
The elders gather.
The youngin's bob and scoot.
This is sacred time.
Sacred land.
Our stomachs full of nurturing food from the creator.
Bears, wolves, mountain lions dare not enter our camp.
We are the danger.
The Chief and Medicine Man nod from across the fire.
The warriors dance.
The princess' prance.
Great design?
Or all by chance?

Feel the rush,
Chased the ghost,
These are the things
We miss the most.
All of the laughs and all the cries,
These are the words behind the lies.
Never again and never enough,
Know when to hold and when to bluff.
Defeated myself,
Forgot the past.
These are the times,
That never last.
Deception and truth,
Smoke and the mirrors,
Groans and the moans,
Laughs and the cheers.
From dusk till dawn,
From built to broken,
Our secrets are safe,
Trust never broken.
One more hand,
And one more round.
To hell with sleep,
We will rest in the ground!

Eternally

I am happy.
I am free.
I’m excited,
To be me.

To be me,
Is a gift from God,
Because I’m His,
Eternally.

Eternally,
I’m ever changing,
Ever growing,
And rearranging.

And rearranging,
Is what I do best.
It’s my sacred quest,
To ever pass this test.

To ever pass this test,
Is why I’m here,
And I’m here, to win this war,
To return home with honor.

To return home with honor,
Is what I’ll do,
As I am happily changing,
To pass this test.

To pass this test,
Is a gift from God,
To be free,
Eternally.
