Light Hearted Kid

Do you remember when phones had a cord to the wall outlet?
Our son was about five years old.
We were in a hotel room and he wanted to call daddy.
He ran over to the phone and picked it up.
As he looked at me with a very puzzled look, he said it has no dial tone.
Yes, no dial tone because we are in a hotel room.

I feel like that kid could have been me, because hotel phones were slightly different than home phones. Yes, I was a child in the 80's. Congratulations on your win in my contest.

Children are so curious and observant. They like to imitate what the elders do. I can relate to what your little son did. My son too was addicted to the phone with the cradle. Those days are gone. How I wish for those days!

Yep, children miss nothing. We only think they do, giving our minds a break that they don't need. Only last year got rid of my landline...still go to the wall first when thinking to make a call. Thank you, Paula.

Good one Paula. When I was a kid we had a party line. Now everything is secure-so they say. Hotel rooms still have phones but not sure how much they are used any more.

LOL! Curiosity! I would tell the kids in afterschool how to use the phone “…listen for the dial tone…” I had to hold it up to their ear or put on speaker so they could understand what a dial tone is…lol

Great to see you here. Thank You for stopping to read/write and for your best wishes for the contest. Glad you enjoyed my "Light Hearted Kid" True Story. Each hotel room had a phone because people did not have a cell phone. Sometimes the calls went through a switchboard. I remember a phone charge for each local call.
