Nothing Lasts Forever

There once rose a man; Adolf Hitler
Who established himself as the world’s conqueror,
Thought of himself as an immortal
But nothing lasts forever.
Seasons come and go,
For every high there’s a low
Span is always a thought to consider
‘Cos nothing lasts forever.

Green leaves may turn brown;
Great trees lose their crowns.
Smiles,slowly fade into frowns
Nothing lasts forever.

In all the pain,
Set your eyes on the gain.
It’ll be fine someday,
Nothing lasts forever.

Enjoy it while it lasts,
For it’ll soon be of the past,
Flying away into the skies like dust;
Nothing lasts forever.

Sani thought himself a butcher,
Slayed as many as stood in his way,
But where is he today,
Nothing lasts forever.

Charles tailored his schedules intricately,
He sought to establish longevity.
But for every sprout, there’s a shrink.
Nothing lasts forever.

I mean! Dada was ferocious;
Wilder than the beasts of the jungle,
Today, he’s feasted upon by maggots,
Nothing lasts forever.

Hope was brought to the south.
A man delivered them from their shackles,
Nelson could only do as much as his life would permit.
Nothing lasts forever.

I could go on and on,
Write from dusk till dawn.
But certainly, this piece has got to end
‘Cos nothing lasts forever.

Dead Love Lasts (Jack & Sally)

Nightmare Before Christmas - Jack & Sally

Darling; did I tell you?
That you make my splintering bones feel
As if they had sensitive shocked nerves still.

In the frightening night
Your stitches have the appearance
Of rusting wires impaling coarse ice skin.

If we wander
Through the lively graveyard
The night still doesn’t illuminate
The death of anyone as elegantly
As it does you.

Your hollow eyes
Make my leather skin believe
I have live insects shivering underneath.

Let me tell you
That your rattling rib cage
Holds my deceased heart; beating again.

Could we find
A place in this nightmarish town
That doesn’t heighten the dead love
That you infect my rotting mind with?

Can you believe?
Years from now
Our legendary love
Shall be written amongst the earth.
For we are living dead proof
That;
Love doesn’t end with life

When distance circles the shoreline
Painfully , a numb breeze decries
How our lackluster glance mirrors
Frail changing of hesitant eyes.
Across night’s starkly blunt edges
Fondness dangles like threadbare reeds;
Knowing warmth is not forever
When moonless summer’s rapture bleeds.
~

My spirit homeless now admits,
This fleeting affair… love resists.

Premium Member What Lasts

I stare at my baby’s perfect bald head,
Watching her chest rise and fall,
Her precious lips poised for her next feeding.
I wonder if this is my last sleepless night spent drinking in her infantile perfection.

My little girl starts Kindergarten today,
Pretty plaid dress and sparkly shoes,
A backpack with her favorite princess on it.
I wonder if this is my last time knowing that she’ll miss me as much as I’ll miss her.

I just left my beautiful protege at college,
A new dorm room with movie posters
And everything important to her proudly displayed.
I wonder if this is the last time she’ll call our house her home.

The amazing woman I birthed is 23.
Cancer now consumes her body
And my time, driving to chemo, holding her hand, praying until my knees give out.
I wonder if this is the last treatment — the one that will end her pain.

I stare at my baby’s perfect bald head,
Reminded of when she was a newborn.
But this time I’m not feeling the joy, only fear.
I wonder if this will be the last time I hold this exceptional soul in my arms.

I stare at the lovely woman beneath my tree,
Her short, curly hair a welcome change,
Making her blue eyes sparkle even more than the Christmas lights.
And I am certain this will not be the last time I thank my God for a miracle.

Many memories have I beheld
all present and all knowing
a loving family I protect
within these walls, years flowing.

Alas, the bookends of time
came crashing down this night
devils danced in wicked winds
evoking scorching screams of fright.

Now suffocating, a flaming pyre
I perish, obliterated by fire.

Nothing But God Lasts Forever

Learning His lessons at last
The past must die as the past
The future must never exist
So let the fates turn and twist
No time to berate and bemoan
Each instant is ever on loan
Right now is the now or never
Nothing but God lasts forever

Where Love Lasts Longer

"Where Love Lasts Longer"

My world is blue
and green
I sleep within the
blue
I see through the
green
the dreams
that follow me
overtake the
black and white
bleeding into
whitewashed gray
within the inner
portrait of me
the ruins
they spray painted
covered in graffitti
the core
like a diamond
remains
from what
they framed
the day of great
betrayal
hung on a wall
like flowers
to dry with
the life sucked
out of me, flattened
like a bad memory
pressed between
indolent pages
the dreams
that follow me
overtake the
black and white
bleeding into
whitewashed gray
within the inner
portrait of me
the core
like a diamond
unbreakable
remains

My world is blue
and green
I sleep within the
blue
I see through the
green

eventually
I awake from the dream
into another dream

where sentences are shorter
and love lasts longer
and the unwanted
memories fade

Premium Member Love That Lasts

Abiding love is a gift from above
bestowing favor to one special love
caring, committed and being kind
doing the hard thing, sacrifice in mind
enjoying one another’s company
forever grateful for you and me
going the distance to the very end
having and being each other’s best friend
interests shared, and taking the time
just to listen to your thoughts and mine
kinship that grows through the years
loving the good times, sharing the tears
may be moments that cause great strife
no matter how hard, we’ll make it right
over the years, seeking help from the Lord
purposeful prayer to trust Him more
questions may go unanswered, but we
rest in His promises and let them be
so now we’ll continue to sojourn as one
trusting His care and trusting the Son
undying love, with a strong bond we share
venturing forward, and being aware
wanting to please, and letting it show
xenial ways bring pleasure that grows
youthful exuberance, breaking the mold
zest for living, together, as we grow old.

Moment That Lasts Forever

She is a blank canvas
I am the artist
Love is the perfect portrait that we make.
I search for a moment that lasts forever.
Something to express what i feel for her.
My unchained emotion, that goes on forever unchained,
unlimtied and untamed.

You cant cage this animal
nor tame this lion in me called love,
nor arrest it's cousin, passion
or its uncle, emotions.

I adorn her earth with kisses
ravish the garden called her trinity,
each sound turns the grass greener.

earth shattering pulsations
on this bed love founded on a bed of fresh roses

She is a blank canvas
I am the artist
Love is the perfect portrait that we make.
I search for a moment that lasts forever....

That lasts forever.

That Which Lasts

Common little treasures,
lying still upon the shelves
or hidden in the corner of
of a near forgotten drawer—
all these surround me now—
brand new once and
gazed upon with fondness still.
Though scratched, chipped
and tarnished, each performs
its daily task—offering no complaint.
I love and trust them all the more.

Premium Member Love That Lasts a Lifetime

I thought I caught a glimpse of you today
And passing by your door I heard you laugh
Or just a memory, I could not say
It fades away like dusty photographs.

I was ever there for you, so faithful
A haven from life's woes, a sweet retreat
Inside my arms we knit a bond so true
A tie so strong no other love could meet.

Yet all the while I knew you had to go
To venture out and make your dreams come true
And find a love that you could call your own
To make your mark that only you could do.

So proud to see the man that you've become
This mother's love is ever true, dear son.

A rare November day,
sunny and warm
with a brilliant blue sky
visible thorough suddenly bare limbs.
Brown leaves crunch,
laying the bed for winter.
Oak lasts longest.

Premium Member Lust Lasts But Not Love

Marry not as per the social rules expect
But if you are in love, you got to marry
If your love is real but don’t get married
Life expansion stops

Most of the girls fall in love, marry elsewhere
If the boys follow, will remain unmarried
Followers impossible to find in year

Enjoy While It Lasts

ENJOY WHILE IT LASTS………
Sparkling like sparkles,
Sunny like mine sunshine,
Bubbly like bubbles in beer,
And frisky like a fizzy drink,
Enjoy while it lasts………….

Gloomy like a cavern,
Morose like a hungry dog,
Poker faced like a poke-weed,
Melancholic like a rejected child,
Enjoy while it lasts……..

The emblems of life,
The sweet-bitter taste of life,
Embrace when sweet and kiss when bitter,
No condition is permanent,
Enjoy while it lasts……….

Sometimes we tumble, plunge, keel and topple over,
At other times we hoist, haul, propel and zoom,
Life is unstable,
Life has got different branches, alleys, tracks, lanes and pathways,
Enjoy while it lasts………….

We run in circles and don’t even realize it,
With so many questions on our minds, surrounded with problems but never solutions,
Always asking but why but not how,
Enjoy while it lasts……..

Enjoy while it lasts…..the twist and turns, the whirls and twirls…..
Life is short…..
As the clock tickles, so does your lifespan,
Sooner or later your life will be dilapidated…..
Enjoy while it lasts……
