Premium Member The Wind

When it left the Arctic it was as a wild angry wind
that stormed its way across the ice bound Arctic ocean.
Blowing the snow clad icebergs and whipping up the ocean.
As it crossed Alaska and into Canada it had gentled
now it played games with leaves and softly kissed flowers.

Gaily it soared over the Rockies and tugged goats beards
causing them to shake their heads and stamp their feet.
In Playful mood it swept on hugging the coast awhile
then veering inland, it travels the plains and grows in strength
turning into a raging tornado causing havoc as it passes.

Moving ever southward it basks in now warm sunshine
and skips over the gulf of Mexico filling yachts sails.
Deep down in South America it turns into a wild fury that
uproots trees snapping them in half like matchsticks,
Then onward once more dancing past the Falkland islands.

Its destiny is now in sight and with triumphant roar
it rushes on over the Antarctic ocean and slides up
the icy barrier then screams its way across the tundra
yet slowly it loses its power and as it reaches the incline
this moody wind fades away until with final breath it dies.

Premium Member Can'T Get High Enough

I started sucking my thumb until it looked like a plumb
Things didn't feel any better so I poured a glass of rum
Some will imagine I'm happy when they hear the tunes I hum
whisky me Dixie I am the crazy unbalanced one

Yes I hum like a drum and I pretend to be dumb
I prefer the shady ladies who stay out of the sun
You might want to hang out after all I can be fun
Others will try and warn you, you'd be better off to run

You think I'm simple dear Simon, my thoughts not so deep
I know it's easy to judge me by the company I keep
I'm hanging on by three threads, one step away from endless sleep
I can't get up high enough, the incline of my mind is too steep

I'm weathered and worn kinda broken and busted
Others thought they could help get my aptitude adjusted
Yet some things can't be fixed too many layers have rusted
Kind people have attempted to get me polished and dusted
Forget all that attention I just simply cussed it

I wander asphalt streets bopping to my lost boy beat
see the crooked dexterity of my wobbly bruised feet
Nothing satiates me what I hunger for I can't eat
the ghosts in my mind have occupied my seat
My demons are hidden beneath a white worn sheet!
Don't try and peek under, you won't like who you meet!

Premium Member A Want To Climb

One day I started climbing;
without question I climbed.
Until finally I had reached the peak of Mt. Everest.
I wanted to beat my breastbone
yell like Tarzan King of the Apes.

But...
 I saw a tree.
IT!
was the highest peak.

I climbed.

“Ta da"!

But...
there was an escarpment,
 higher.

I climbed.

Once again I...

But...
Stairs,
stairs at the end of the land.

I climbed

Reached the top of the stairs.

But...
I saw a huge bird.
“I can go higher” I told myself.
I reached up with my arms,
miraculously the bird accepted my hands.

We reached the space beyond Earth's pull;
there my magical friend released me.

 I kept floating up
until I reached a tunnel in space,
a hole on an incline that led up.

I climbed!

For an eternity,
maybe longer.
The higher I got...
nothing.
An enormous amount of nothing.
I was going nowhere and I was doing it in record time.

Then...
Then I stopped.
I mean I hit the brakes,
reflected on my journey.

The wildlife?
 Had I done damage?
The escarpment?
What was the vegetation,
were there flowers?
I should of gone barefoot felt the land under my feet;
smelled the coffee.

Were those really stairs I climbed?
Was it friends and associates I was stepping on?

I opened my eyes.

The climb was like trying to walk to the end of the horizon.
All leading to more vast “I don’t know what” but definitely up.
“No!” I said aloud.
“So what!” I whispered.

So...
I slid down the best slide you ever saw.
I felt like a child again,
I could see, smell, feel and hear,
I could taste the sweetness of freedom in the air.
I love sweets.

So...
Now, back to my land
I plant myself firmly.

I am one with all,
a Giant Redwood surrounded by other Redwoods.

I am at peace.
Here, at the bottom of everything is my highest point.
I bask in the heat of the sun.
Feed from the richness of the land.
Drink the cold water gifted to me by the skies above.

What an incredible sense of strength I feel
comfortable in my own bark.
Just happy to be rooted.

Now...
 I am the smallest tree

But...
growing.
Fulfilled,
 satisfied just “to be”!

Premium Member Destined To Love

    "Destined to Love"

twilight Moon cascades, haunting tapestry
as hearts incline to secrets of mellow night
clandestine caresses embrace 'neath canopy
lovers silhouette engage in sweet romantic flight
ascending to voluminous height.

in ebony atmosphere, flirtatious fondling ignites fire
as breathless succulence invades flesh and bone
with adventurous satisfaction, love pursues deepest desire
while sequined stars illuminate soft tone
captivating aura of mysterious moan.

forbidden fruit lies tenderly amidst dew-kissed heather
hypnotic force of true love refused to be denied
petite vision in chantilly lace and supple leather
emotions escalate vast inner feelings to subside
love conquers life, happiness cried.

a lovers touch creates palatial garden of delight
a beautiful expression accentuating rare romance
inhaling fragile fragrance although their precious plight
encircles pair in eternal dance
succumbing to the power of temptation's trance.

twilight Moon cascades, haunting tapestry
gently, pure white wings of turtledove
whispers an evening song 'neath lovely canopy
while heavenly stardust shimmers from above
smiling upon lovers destined to love.

Premium Member On Wings of Song

I fly on wing of song.
Twenty-three miles out of Atlanta
soaring like an eagle traveling from DC
thirty-six thousand miles high
Fly, fly away
Through the blue hues of morning
white fluffiness lie below towards earth
puffy white and gray cotton-like softness
gently moving on windsong
feeling like a Welsh princess
watching o’er her universe.
I see the world through a rectangle
looking out over the airplane’s wing
reaching outward and upward.
Soaring like hope
Moving like faith
Solid span of charity
Humming motor onward bound joyful sound
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground
wind under my winged sails
I’m pressing on the upward way.
Arrows painted on wingspan
pointing left as we travel right
viewing “safety line attach point”
feeling secure way up here
three flapjacks adjusting the wind flow
reminding of Father, Son and Holy Spirit
pouring through keeping my soul.
Upward outward incline
continuous motion held by metal strength
while thin white clouds pass by.
Heaven’s sky still far far away
no matter how far up one gets God is farther still
beyond the blue somewhere higher.
Sitting assured as my mind presses on—
landing soon will come
back to earth world
where I belong.

Premium Member The Dolphin

Beneath the illumination of the elliptical moon,
Within the cove of diamond bay, waves gently sway
Back and forth, under the oceans clarity of the big blue,
As the surfs foam and spray roll against the white sandy
Beaches beyond.
Hush the breeze whispers to the gulls above, hush, hush now,
Be still, for soon they will come, but these chatter snappers.
Refuse to yield in their battering’s scrawling, until the ocean
Itself-lashes out at them to be quiet.
In the silence of the timeless, in the paused hush of the
Aquatic wilderness, something stirs.
Behold the leaping lords of the blue abyss,
Breaching upwards, as if to tenderly kiss the moon above,
Thanking it for another day of life, to live wild and free,
Beneath the waves of infinity, of the big blue.
Dancers on fins of grace, seemingly toe stepping on the
Waves in a delicate balance, just for a second of brilliance
Display, while others incline in a somersault acrobatic
Air assault, to pay homages respect to the magnificent
Ocean for its eternal beauty, and salvation's refuge.
These gray phantoms of the divine ethereal realm,
Born with purity’s heart of innocence, true creatures
Of light and love, shine in the diamond star dust of twilight.
Birthed within the quaking wake of the lords divining hands,
At the moments his voice rose, in the beginning of time itself,
Dividing the light from the darkness, the dolphin took its first
Air breath of life, and the Lord Almighty,
Smiled down upon his aquatic creation with warmth and love.
Perfections free falling divers, enchanting the human heart
With their graceful swiftness, stealth and intelligence.
The sailor’s guardians at sea, these vigilant sentinels of the
Briny depth, follows the surging storms hailing, and await
To assist in the deist hour of humanities greatest need.
Within their loving pod, the young are nurtured by devotions
Breasts of giving, no tender a mother can ever be found
Then she the dolphin, born from the grace of God himself.
In the silence of the timeless, in the paused hush of the
Aquatic wilderness, something stirs beneath the waves
Of clarity.
Behold the leaping lords of the blue abyss,
Breaching upwards, as if to tenderly kiss the moon above,
Thanking it for another day of life, to live wild and free,
Beneath the waves of infinity, of the big blue.

In Twenty Four Hours

In twenty four hours life can drastically change.....

One moment blissfully happy walking on cloud nine
Thinking life is beautiful and wonderful, oh so divine
Then something happens that fills you with despair
Feels like you have been sent to hell without a prayer

Maybe doctors tells you have some incurable disease
Up to the heavens you look, reciting desperate pleas
Or you have cancer and you must battle for your life
It is like being stabbed in the gut with an invisible knife

You find out the one you adore, no longer loves you
The life your shared together is suddenly bid adieu
Or you lose a loved one, death causes so much pain
Barely holding self together, trying not to go insane

In twenty four hours life can drastically change.....

One moment living a life filled with sorrow and strife
Questioning your fate and the purpose of your life
Then somethings happens that fills you full of hope
A glimmer of an incline instead of a downward slope

Your disease is treatable, quality of life still intact
You decide to fight with all you got, stop being attacked
Your cancer has gone into remission, life is yours once more
You promise to live each moment fully, like you never did before

A person enters your life and shows you what love truly is about
This special love will last forever, this you know without a doubt
A newborn enters your life whom you cherish and adore
The unconditional love of a child, no one could ask for more.

In twenty four hours life can drastically change.....

It's how you chose to deal with life curves is what really matters
Try to be positive and not let negative thoughts rip you into shatters
Find the courage and the strength to face each day anew
Everyone has hurdles that their trying to live through

Their is always someone that is far worse off than you
Let family and friends help hold you together like glue
Remember you matter to those that hold you dear
Have faith and hope, don't let yourself succumb in fear

Don't dwell on yesterdays sorrows, for you can't change the past
Tomorrow is beyond our control and comes without being asked
Live for today and deal with each battle as they come
For your life is the last thing you should abstain from!

Premium Member A Quick Look

From the mountaintop, we look behind
Rivers crossed, the gradual incline
Obstacles seen clearly, paths not taken
Hills and valleys, opportunities forsaken
Winding paths, in all directions
Coming together, in retrospection
For a moment in time, take one last peek
It's down the backside, golden dreams we seek
Obstacles ahead, challenging no less
From a better perspective, looking down from the crest
Our future prepared, by yesterday's dares
As the sun slowly sets, shadows replace glares.

Premium Member Who Are Those Funny Poets

John Wulf, with his funny Limerick antics telling funny hilarious stories,

“viagraology

There once was a medical study
of things flapping flaccid like putty
those men given placebo
couldn’t enter gazebo
it drove the poor fellas plumb nutty

but also has his very soft spot for all of us

Then there is my very favorite lady, Jan Allison, with all her humorous poems,

ANOTHER VIAGRA POEM HAS JUST POPPED UP - INSPIRED BY EVE ROPER AND JACK ELLISON

It hung so limply like Niagara
Doc told him to take some Viagra
Just one little blue pill
Gave his wife such a thrill
It sticks up so high it could stab ya

but lover her with all our hearts she is the sweeties of them all

Jack Ellison, teasing back and forth with his witty poems,
so who’s the greatest of them all,

OD'd On Viagra

Hickory, Dickory, Dock
Overdosed on Viagra, whatta shock
My wee fellow looked up
Said, “You ain't no pup!”
I cried, “This guy don't go by no clock”

But a jolly soul because his Santa Jack this year.

Then there’s our Mystic Rose that joins the group with  her sense of humor;

A Little Viagra Goes A Long Way

Incline thy ear o-friend of mine
Me poor husband got it bad
He got a dicky that won't pine
Tis sad Tis sad Tis really sad

I heard yours takes Viagra pills
Malone's will not erect nor stay
and yesterday he got the shills
Just letting dicky out to play!

Would you be so kind to send
The medicine that made him sleep
I'll give my hon a pop to rend
His dicky joy, so he can weep

Few tears of joy alongside mine
Oh how my smile would shine
He got a dicky that won't pine
And that's a real bad sign...

Premium Member Midnight's Miracle

Moonlight glistened like stars on the snowy mountain lane
Ascending to a mesa above the timberline
Horses from the valley ranch often grazed with free rein
More than once fillies had climbed up the steep incline

One morning after the mare Midnight had disappeared
Ranch hands formed a posse and set out to search the hills
The raven-black horse was loved; for her safety they feared
A winter storm set in; hands faced heavy snow and chills

As night approached, dejected posse members returned
The ranch owner consoled them and offered his deep thanks
All felt their rescue mission failed, hung their heads concerned
As snow piled high, blowing, drifting into heavy banks

Three days of frigid weather kept horses inside their stalls
Passing Midnight’s empty booth made rugged cowboys sad
It was on the fourth day they witnessed an end to snow squalls
A sight on the mountain trail turned many faces glad

Midnight slowly plodded down the hill, nudging her foal
A painted pony, black with vivid spots of white
The colt looked like her mother, covered with flakes of snow
Hoof prints down the mountainside shone in morning light

Midnight had taken shelter inside a tiny cave
Just large enough for a determined equine mother
To rest a few days after birthing a stunning babe
A miracle, ranch hands said, unlike any other

Premium Member To Endear Me To You

What more can I do to endear me to you?
How can I endlessly draw your gaze?
How might I incline your heart to be mine,
To reside beside mine, always?

You might have guessed that you are my Muse—
The source of all my inspirations.
I’m doing my best to respond to your clues
To permanently win your affections.

Each song that I sing, each verse that I rhyme,
Are meant to attract your attentions.
Each bouquet that I bring, endless time after time,
Are just my endearing enduring expressions.

My soul’s compass always points towards you,
Pulled by more than just mere attraction.
My life is in focus, and my sky’s brightest blue
When I am searching in your direction.

What more can I do to endear me to you?
How can I cement your gaze?
What must I refine to call your heart mine,
That our paths may entwine, always.

Inspired by the song CHERISH by the group The Association.

JULIET

Your long black hair, set in a velvet bow
Your well set shoulders tell me all I know
That you and I are no betoken age
As you take your bounding place upon my stage
So glad your grace, so lovely you of limb
That counting clans of discord does not dim
Your radiant eye, your gentleness of touch
Which show how I need you and how much
I read your looks with love in every line
Dream all night, and in your arms incline
Such gentleness and looseness all is won
Our beleaguered families need you as a sun
So much so, that you and I are all
The world needs to cleanse it of its gall.

Premium Member Murmuration of Starlings High

Murmuration of starlings high. I’m high!
Low stars twinkling with wings. The trumpet’s call!
As winds of war, incline, in warm wind sigh,
the flock, a shock, sans enemies appall.

These friends do fascinate, heard like bombers,
like Japanese over unsuspecting
Pearl Harbor fight ~ these darling bird-balmers.
The nudge of melodic buzz, quite affecting.

Not of national consequence, abuzz
not with politicking but peace of soul -
remains of war pittance, the scrawling-t’was.
My awesome sight, this di’mond-bling of coal.

Mere humans offer crumbs ~ my heart flaps wings.
With murmurs high and low, communion springs.

Premium Member I Am Who I Want To Be

Who knew you were so mechanically incline
My cardiac specialist, you fixed the broken in mine
Who knew you possessed such a green thumb
Growing feelings in a salted heart that was numb
Who knew you could build something out of nothing
Filling the void, the abyss, the hole with your everything
Who knew you could be a blanket wrapping me
Without disillusion, with you, I am who I want to be

A Walk With Me

Waves crash the rocks in ecstasy
as I pass the archway
to the sea.
Onwards to the village,
busy cafes,
the aroma of coffee brewing,
as a power of teens gather, texting.

I venture down
a chestnut lined road
under a canopy
of Copper Beech
where bright shafts of sun
illuminate a lane of lavender
a sea of perfume
wafts the air.

Climbing an incline,
hills in view,
the distant sobbing
of water sounds
a trickling brook emerges
ambling through magenta heather
and thorny gorse.

I reach a stile,
entrance to the woods
where a carpet
of frosted red cyclamen
bleeds down to a deep dark glen.
A chicory lake lies there, frozen
as a mist uncurls between reeds.

The granite hills,
 soft with snow,
luminous against a whale grey sky.
A copse of pine trees
surround a curving river
where trout pout, bubbling.

At the fold of day,
returning hom
The pale sun sinks the horizon
as stars tremble
into a velvet night
