Best Impassable Poems

At times when the night glows so dark
And dawning too rises clouding the arc
Be the street lamp ceaselessly bright
Be the candle with halo of angelic light

When travails of life flood teary eyes
And forlorn hearts pulse in sullen cries
Be the echo of solace from hills divine
Be the hymn of grace tolling in shrine

Where guns of war embroil, stilling time
And lives struggle on impassable climb
Be not the one among callously supine
Be not voice of unsung to meekly resign

Hear homeless-bawl on troubled streets
Feel the discordant wail of hunger beats
Be the day that glistens hope of sunshine
Burn brightly the flame of love genuine

Be a mighty pillar to plight of the weak
Be a luminant purveyor on blight bleak
Be the omnipresent twinkle of stellar sign
Be the eternal glory of ubiquitous shine

Rather lost, they stare over the divide,
how best to circumnavigate this obstacle?
They can see a path gently sloping down
but it is far off to the north two days ride.

West is back from whence they had come,
east is an impassable cliff of sheer rocks.
They can not see far to the south but maybe,
they talk it over and head into the unknown.

Tumble weed rolling by pushed by the wind
as playfully it blows them into their path.
Miniscule trees dot the flat plateau
and small shrubs popping up here and there.

In a hurry they head on swiftly southwards
and soon start to descend to the valley below.
Billy is pale with anxiety as they push on
his wife Betty is due to give birth.

Sammy casts worried looks at his friend knowing
there is little he can say that will help.
At last they reach the valley and gallop on
Just another five miles will they make it in time?

Their horses now struggling, sweat pouring off them.
Billy's homestead comes into view cattle scattering
as they gallop through the herd and into the yard.
Sammy hangs back as Billy dashes in to Betty.

In full labour she screams "Where have you been?"
"The preacher is here to wed us. Did you get the ring?"
"I have it here" said Billy and without delay they were married.
And within minutes the twins arrived a boy and girl both bawling.

"Geezers you cut that close Billy" said Sammy
as they slumped on the front porch drinking beer.
"We made it in the nick of time" replied Billy
flushed with the joy and fulfilment of life.

Order in court, you're charged fallible,
Held in contempt for rhymes impassable.
    Corny pick-up lines I applaud,
    Infringing copyrights is fraud!
That is why we are not compatible.

Premium Member Life is a Journey

Sometimes the light's all shining on me
Other times I can barely see
Lately it occurs to me
What a long strange trip it's been,

 from Truckin by The Dead

Life is a Journey

Life is a long journey with
high hills and deep valleys.
Day after day one foot
in front of another.

Dark nights of deep depression,
offset by sunlit days of happiness.
Take one day at a time, and
accept what is my lot.

Failures, like impassable walls
block my way.
Success provides the path
around them.

People appear along the road
to accompany me.
Some for a short time and
others for the whole trip.

Sometimes people
act as my guide.
Other times they seek
to hinder me.

Many times, I walk alone
with only myself to rely on.
Sometimes I am surprised
and other times not.

In my golden years, I look back
at the road I have travelled.
Sometimes, I laugh, other
times I cry.

The Dead were right.
It has been a long strange trip!

We had missed five days in
The last two weeks
Due to the ice and snow.
Roads and streets had been impassable—
Freezing rain, blowing snow and black ice.
We started the day late at 10 am.
I greeted them at the doors—
Worried about attendance.
But, ninety-five percent made it.
Fantastic!
They were wrapped in hooded jackets
And wore toboggans with rainbow colors.
Mothers had stuffed them with oatmeal,
Hotcakes and sausage.
One carried chocolate milk
And powdered sugar donuts,
Along with tousled hair and a big smile.
I was glad they made it.
We didn’t need to lose another
Day of instruction.

The day went smoothly, too.
In spite of the frigid cold that pushed
The mercury down to two degrees.
Frozen feet tracked salted snow
Onto brightly buffed tiles.
One carried an icicle two foot long—
I convinced him it would keep outside.

Then came lunch.
The short day was ready made for
Corn dogs and sloppy Joes—
A menu that might have been invented
By kindergarteners.
But they hardly touched either one.
Today they served
Golden Meadow Orange Dream Bars—
A dessert that was surely made in Heaven.

Ice cream on the coldest day of the year.
And the February freeze was forgotten.
The orange circled smiles of kinders
Beamed a warmth from within,
Making the remainder of the day brighter,
Marking an end to winter.

In Dreaming

I chose to jump that cliff
In sweet sleepwalking
Accidentally into each other
We fell, lulled dream-talking
Tucked cozily on his shoulder
Nestled, esteeming to exalting

But the stench of fear
Arose so unnerving
Out of the blue, casually
The only certainty is an ending
Panic bloomed, mushroomed
The million spores to its propagating

So paralyzed, I was stricken
Stuck, imagining and dreading
That the way in isn’t the way out—
No fleeing or retreating
Could drive through this impassable wall
So I’ll just stay forever dreaming

Premium Member Floods

The land is flooded
rain that never stops
houses lay abandoned
water running through

Still the rain comes
relentless, incessant
roads are impassable
villages cut off

Army busy building
defences that are
all too soon swept away
and still the rain falls

Cattle airlifted to safety
their fields under water
a state of national emergency
declared by government

Promises to help
local authorities
given freedom
to spend whatever needed

Still the rain falls
lives lost far too many
homeless people in despair
they have lost everything

Homes that will take months
to dry out and be habitable
for now their owners wait
staying with friends or in shelters

Forecast says more rain
and yet still more rain
when will it stop?
and things return to normal?

we are suffering from the worst rainfall in around 10+ years water levels up more than 5-6
feet on the Somerset levels so many people made homeless as their houses are flooded
and the loss of life, cars swept away animals airlifted to safety it will take months
for things to return to normal. That's when the rain finally stops for now the forecast is rain
and yet even more rain. There is another inch forecast for today and gale warning too

Deep in the forest was an inaccessible cliff
that soared high above the tall tree canopy.
People had wondered for years what lay beyond
yet the landscape was so inhospitable none dared
to try to reach the impassable cliff and scale it.

A hunting party got led astray as they tracked
after a herd of mountain bearded goats.
The chase had been long and very hard
as their elusive prey kept far ahead, tempting
them ever onwards. Now with night approaching
they were caught far from home with no shelter.

They searched along the cliff base for a cave
finally one spotted a narrow track.
With trepidation they followed it into the cliff
it twisted and turned getting narrower,
darkness coated them almost smothering them.

With brush torches they plunged ever deeper
into its midst, the rocks covered in green slime.
Which gave off an odd luminous light that
distorted everything in the strangest way.
Giving rise to images of long lost creatures
that flicked and danced in the eerie light.

Along way ahead they could see sky
and odd trees on the distant horizon.
Finally reaching the end they looked
out on to a very different world.
Everywhere they looked were new plants.

Wondrous plants with enormous fruits
and strange multi coloured birds
that flocked to them without any fear,
settling on shoulders chattering away.
Deer came up and nudged them gently
seeking their pockets with wet tongues.

Flowers spanning six to nine feet
made for the perfect resting places.
Cosy and bouncy the weary hunters
were soon fast asleep and woke invigorated.
The stream bubbled by contentedly.

Its waters were crystal clear and sweet
and enormous fish lazily swam by.
They spent a few days there exploring
all the treasures that nature offered.
Reluctantly they made their way back
and excitedly told friends and family.

They scoffed at their tales with disbelief
until in frustration they led them back to the cliff.
For hours they searched in vain for the trail,
They looked at each other incredulously
Had they just dreamt it? We will never know!

Your Forest

Your Forest
You're gone, far far away
Come back, that's all i want to say.
I want you to miss me
But i know that's impossible
Still, your forest is impassable

Your forest is beautiful
Staying inside is so meaningful
Although i know it will rain,
But i can survive in the pain

All these problems i can go through,
if i have you
So I need you.

Tijuana Mexico

Casualties of an enforced lifestyle shiver in the breeze
Along the rugged roads of old dust and ditches that divide
Rest a group of modest enclosures they call home
Built out of left over wood and delivery slates in 90 degrees

They seem content with their simplistic lifestyles and unsightly miles
Water is delivered in worn out trucks and stored in their homes in discarded tanks
There is no sewer system, very few working water systems are scattered
Yet, if you were to pass through for a visit, the women would be cooking with smiles

During the day, men are bused to work in factories and earn fifty dollars a week
Few people have the resources to receive a doctor’s visit and medications
“Anencephaly” a brain birth defect that their infants have, now significantly rise
When it rains there the roads become virtually impassable and unusably bleak

They are a hard working people with values and a drive to nurture their youth
Bathing their children in the same lavadora they wash their dishes in
Tijuana is among one of the poorest places in the world
With these living conditions, it’s hard to turn your back from the truth

Love Will Find Away

Real love is like water from tropical mountains
It will find ways to flow down from the hills
Wild water is draw by forming beautiful river
Battered and tumbling down to kiss big boulders

Made noisy to cruise a hundred miles of destination
The birds and flowers cheering together in the excursion
Running water made high ways to reached the amazing journey
A journey that river and ocean met and lived happily

What a wonderful world man be falling in love
Find ways in reaching the impassable road of love
Building a strong meaning of loveliness
And vanished all doubts meaning of loneliness

Fear

What is fear?
It clutches and binds you;
Its clinch constricts your conscience and gestures.
It degrades and damages you;
Its triumph abolishes your own proficiency to prosper.
It stops and holds you;
Its impeccable knack of holding you still is impassable.
It overcomes and you surrender;
Its will to thwart your approach has you anxious to ensue.
It is burdensome and palpable;
Its load weighs you down and disables your efforts.
It is real and ever present;
Its nearness is felt in your existence as it hides in wait.
It is debilitating;
It is maddening;
It is caustic;
What is fear?
It is controllable and facilitated;
You can clamber over the hindrances it extends you.
It is fallible and erratic;
You can perceive its shifting deeds as it scours for a way.
It is provisional and remedial;
You can tolerate its manifestation or expel it into a void.
It is daunting and probable;
You can be valiant and foretell its vain efforts against you.
It is frail and cognizant;
You can be assured that fear fears itself; it is casually ended.
It is short lived and perpetual;
You can sustain longer than fear, you can evolve as it ruins.
It is ignorance;
It is a curtain;
It is cowardly;
Fear is crushed with the knowledge of the entirety of a state. In these periods of terror we must cast fear in its just position, behind us, and trudge headlong against those who intimidate and threaten the beliefs for which we have battled arduously to safeguard, preserve, and be tolerant of.
Fear is…
Not an option today!

Premium Member My Winter

Our winter weather is highly unpredictable
Jack frost often paints frosty ferns on our windows, but we seldom get any snow
Occasionally we get a flurry but it rarely stays on the ground
However, I vividly recall the winter of 2013
It was the first time I purchased thermal underwear!
Gale force winds blew snow into blinding blizzard conditions
Snow fell in such copious amounts it took everyone by surprise
It was the heaviest snowfall recorded in fifty years!
Huge snowdrifts towered up to ten feet in places and they caused chaos
Roads were totally impassable and whole villages were cut off
Little lambs and sheep had no chance and thousands perished
Shop shelves were soon emptied as no supplies could get through
Overhead power lines got damaged and people were without electricity
Yet everyone pulled together to help out those in need
The only ones that were happy were the school kids
All the schools were closed and the children could have fun outdoors
Colossal snowmen appeared in many gardens
Tea trays were used as sledges and toboggans on the snow clad hills
The snow is long gone… but the memories will always remain

Id

I have a secret place to go whenever I feel the need. It is a place that is visceral,
dark, and so unforgiving that the joy of being there sometimes makes me want to stay
longer than a moment. There, I am like a beast uncaged, running free, and devouring all
that I see. When the beast runs, there is no stopping it. There is no leash or muzzle to
keep it at bay. There is no place that it cannot go, and its desire for retribution is
like an insatiable hunger in its belly. The beast there is ever hungry. "Where is this
place?" you may wonder. I always try to remember to take the key with me. For it is the
barren, lonely, and impassable door you cannot reach...it is the Id within me.

Premium Member Drums Tell the Story

The drums could be heard far away
across the savannah they travelled
spreading, telling the awful news
of the awful deaths and suffering

One village drums talking to another
as much as fifty or so miles away
dreadful news they told the listeners
everywhere lie the dead animals

Of the worst drought in living memory
people dying like flies with thirst
animals stuck in mud trying to reach
the last remaining precious drops

The last few drops of brackenish water
bloated carcass's everywhere you look
hopeless in people's eyes watching
when will the monsoon rains arrive?

The drums beat ever louder and faster
but no help can they bring to sufferers
only water can do that, can rejuvenate
and bring some hope to this parched land

Bring back life, and fresh greenery for all
now the drum tone changes becomes insistent
rain two hundred miles away will it reach?
often it stops, but not this time

Soon the rivers burst their banks flooding
in what seems an instance all springs back
that life saving water has rejuvenated all
bringing fresh hope and life returns abundantly

there are two things that Africa needs to survive rain and sun.
The failure of either causes such suffering to both man and beast
the other danger is floods they can wash whole roads away sometimes
leaving a crater that a bus would not quite fill so then the roads remain
impassable until the dry season which could be 4-5 months away
Just think you turn a tap and hey presto water. Animals and people
daily have to walk 20-50 miles daily just to drink
