Best Hot Dog Poems
Memorial Day
official start of Summer
don't burn the hot dogs
My dog sometimes has the desire
To lay too close to the fire,
To the warm hearth he succumbs
His favorite spot when winter comes.
One night when tranquility prevailed
An exploding spark got on his tail,
He yelped so loud my canine friend,
I had a hot dog with one burnt end.
Ah, the great American food mind!
Nobody else could ever make such a find...
The American "Red Hot", or HotDog..
A national tradition...
Superb in every edition....
But my son and I,
When to the movies we went,
Had a hotdog, and money was well spent...
Why can't we make Hot Dogs like these?
If they asked, to find out,
I'd fall on my knees...
Tried every brand...but just
not quite right...
So I stewed it over, and went
on my way...
Until one fateful day...
I came across kitchen appliances
on sale...
I don't need none...wait! Did I
forget the bun?....
And somehow I found special
hot dog makers...
I'd seen them many times before,
But never in an appliance store...
Roasters, steamers, spits and lots more...
I ain't got no clue,
What most are for....
Then I remembered the movie show,
And suddenly, Eureka!, I did know!
They had those odd machines,
Automatically turning hot dogs,
on little rollers...I said, wow!
Gotta get one of them!!
Found them on line,
And I espied their great cost...
$500 bucks minimum,
of course...
What the hell, ya only live once...
So I ordered one up....
While I sipped on my cup....
It soon came,
and Amazing it was!!
Much better than I'd hoped...
but yet, still just a little something off...
I thought to myself, I gotta figure this out...
Went to the store,
Plastic pulled out...
23 types of mustard, relish and such,
Three different buns,
different in shape, size,
and touch....
And now, every brand of hot dog in the store...
Had to be twenty or more!...
It took me some time,
But when I was done,
I knew he right mustard,
I knew the right bun!...
The band came over to play that night...
I served everyone hotdogs,
It was so out of sight!!
Well it took lots'a time,
and money too...
But soon enough,
Everyone knew....
You needed Hebrew National Franks,
Though their cost was so dear...
But after these investments,
I had little to fear...
So from then on,
it was Coney Island in Queens..
I was the hot dog king...
Nothing else meant a thing!!
So if you need a real tasty dog,
Come see me here,
Where I'm high on the hog,...
And for a mere five bucks,
you can have a dog...
And say "Oh Shucks!"
He's small, barely eight inches tall
but those little legs let him chase the ball.
It's his favorite past time much to my chagrin
but I do it for the pleasure in watching him.
He's quick, he's fast
thrilled to chase or catch the ball as it is cast.
Too soon my enthusiasm wains
and playing endlessly becomes a pain.
The snow man made totally of snow
plump, round and cold
can hold the battered ball so old
and pretend to get ready to throw.
My dog with such a tiny brain
never let's his joy falter or wain.
There he sits without bark
waiting patient for the game to start.
Most of my time is spent in a Piggly Wiggly line
So you know the Hollywood rags I have seen
Scouring them inside out, top to bottom, back to front
I know all the skinny on all the skinny stars in-between
This day Mona in a Moo Moo says from behind me
Something about this must be done
So with the east in our rear (That doesn't sound right does it!)
Look out Hollywood California here we come
Not long after landing in Los Angeles
Before we even barely had time
We set up what "THEY" think is an organic juice hand squeezed by Virgin's
and Himalayan soy Sushi bar
Out of our Hot Dog cart on the corner of Hollywood and Vine
And yes, we've added a little secret ingredient
Something to fatten those Hollywood types up
So they'll look like the rest of us in America
With the line around the block it looks like they can't get enough
With a little dab here and a little sprinkle there (wink, wink)
Our food has become the talk of the town
You'd think they would have figured it out by now
As each delicious bite adds a few extra pounds
And menu items with names like
-Add Another Roll Sushi-
Or the...
-Don't Look Behind You Sushi Surprise-
Then there's our most popular item
The -California Your Butt SuperSize-
Now that we've fattened up most of the Movie Stars and then some
California's so heavy it may soon slide into the sea
With a new concoction we've developed to stimulate brain juice's
We're now taking our Hot Dog Cart to Washington D.C.
Hot Dog Paradox
20 boys ate a hot dog
Which was a simple thing to do
I’m confused
I only want the truth
Did 20 boys eat the same (1) hot dog as clearly mentioned above?
Did 20 boys eat their own individual hot dog, (20 hot dogs), also clearly stated?
Only one hot dog was eaten at a time
And so defined
20 boys ate a hot dog
I don't see how or why
I’m glad it wasn't mine
Don’t ask me what the girls ate
Or I’ll go blind
Sumptuous
savoury
smothered in chili
onions heaped high
on a tasty mustard bun
I will not waste one morsel
of you
My eyes feast upon you
on my plate,
as you sit and await your fate!
My palette awaits
I want to hold you
and devour you
Love of my life,
you make my mouth water
I am tantalized by your smell
Your aroma tempts me
My taste buds tingle
Come closer!
You are my Red Hot!
Hot Dog,
I have been awaiting this moment
to bite into your burning flesh,
and experience your texture,
and enjoy Umami
The 6th sense
More green than orange or yellow
rolling hills of trees take my breath as I speed the highway
hot dog breath on my neck
my eyes drift up to catch nature
of change before my eyes
speed seems required
just as in spring
the first day song spills out your windows into fresh air
so I glide in my old fast car
up the highway
feels like skating
Redd's got his head out the window.
Wow well that's clever. I mean really really intelligent. Must have done all the research well. And drawn exact plans as to not make any errors. Roaring fires sit down in an ice bucket whilst wild seas are placed in shot glasses. Wow. How rather remarkable. What a notion. Ideal isn't it? And squashing the elephant into a child's bathing suit and that mammoth into a negligée meant for a petite lady frame. And as for the wild rampaging rivers well they are meant to be channelled into one centimetre alleyways built with cardboard cut-outs. Dugouts are neither pull outs nor are they pop up books. And bookshops selling their hardbacks with cushions for pages and covers of corrosive substances. Hardly hardy and built to last are they? Which causes the pavements and other concrete areas to crack resembling an old man's face then weep like a memory of childhood dreams. Landscapes link lines and lines frown. And frowning is not a frolicking fauna nor fawn and a dawn would always say hello to the tops of the trees first. Backwards belonging being beforetime bringing basting battling bullfrogs being birthday babies. And a naivety is a navel in a crested guild sitting on the top of a carved antique cane then tip tap down the little streets of old intertwining with the modernity of fashionable shops, markets and bistro bars. Late night stink. Burping. Rather a percentage than a percent sign then. And numbers drawn on a scarf is a scar on a material that was a one off item never to be sold in replicas on shelves. So stick a pin to hold the water of sinks and baths for this is often better than using plugs. Put all plugs away. They are no longer to be used and are now banned in most countries. Pickup puck picked puck pucks picking prickling prickle pickles. Running. In formations on a shelf. And a dive bomber went zoom down the stairs in a five centimetre breeze block house with several rooms saying oh. Z multinationalism multicoloured disco pants and ballet shoes. Turning. Z Socialization Z at thirty-three garden gnomes catching six fish in a snowstorm. And a savoury dip in a kilt dancing with a cracker in a hexagonal hat. Hahaha xx xx xx Z

Icky nasty hot dogs,
Roley Poley meat logs,
Made of scraps from hens and hogs,
Delightful treat for rats and dogs.
Eat them up in pork and beans,
Eat so much you split your seams,
Eat too much they'll fill your dreams,
Wake you up with sweats and screams.
Trample people to the ground,
When those hot dogs are around,
Fight and punch and kick and pound,
Just to munch those hot dogs down.
Quiet now, just one more bite,
Then put the hot dogs out of sight,
The bingeing's done now for the night,
The heartburn later on to fight.

There just ahead she stood in line with just two customers to go
I already knew what I wanted on mine, lite on the onions though
And now it was the Sister's turn as my own mouth began to water
Oh but the lesson we would all learn as I went to place my own order
With her order in her hand she walked over towards the back wall
Confused, we didn't understand but it sure caught the attention of all
There was this man on the ground... I really didn't even notice before
Oh I do always see them around, but usually I just simply try to ignore
But the kindness she showed in how she knelt down to him so meek
In this certainly not being owed such volume did Sisters actions speak
Now all eyes were upon her, people now feeling what they had sought
Yes there We all were, but why did so many of us need to be taught
In seeing perhaps our sad sorrow or sensing that we too wanted to try
She murmured something about tomorrow, that she can't make it by
That man ate well that next day as some of the same people were there
In going about her daily way Sister was in turn just teaching us to care
Stubborn hunter born again
Couch and bed—new badger’s den
Everything long except legs
If it can’t steal then it begs
A lead paw—they food driven
House train full stop forgiven
Being boss in stare and bark
All the coats from light to dark.
