Staying Awhile
Bought at an antiques store for a song:
unframed print #225 of 750, signed by the artist
Number III of the family name, all painters,
(presumably) Those forbears hard to discard--
"Stay Awhile" its title, hospitably captioned by
a country boy, like my father, perhaps-- posing
beside his favorite horse...

If my poetry moves you to witness to stranger
Just know that I'm touched that you're "sharing my ride,"
For the fact is that giving can be fraught with danger,
But those that it calls feel much warmer inside!

I have so little knowledge to call my invention
Some came...

I have an internally repetitious desire,
need,
want,
to seek reassurance

Not so much about,
Am I the fairest/ugliest of Them all?

But, lately,
more maturely,
rationally,
calmly and yet curiously,
compassionately,

Am I healthy?
How am I healthy/unhealthy?
spiritually/mentally

weaponized suppressive
defensively repressive
straight white monotheistic privilege
paid for in tax advantages

And so
it was nationalistically done

Every fall
all co-invested residents send in their conservative
or liberal
or bipartisan dollars
to empower Ceasar's congress
to...

Yahweh's Zephyr
Christian poets are like the winds of God's spirit
that waft through these airways whispering wisdom.

announce bold convictions
declare essential faith
gladly herald, introduce
Jesus - King - Lord
maligned?
nullify,  openly proclaim
questioned?
radically speak truth
utter vocal worship xenially
Yahweh’s zephyr!

*xenially means hospitably or
in a friendly manner
